When the Discrete Fourier Transform of an image is computed, the image is implicitly assumed to be periodic. Since there is no reason for opposite borders to be alike, the “periodic” image generally presents strong discontinuities across the frame border. These edge effects cause several artifacts in the Fourier Transform, in particular a well-known “cross” structure made of high energy coefficients along the axes, which can have strong consequences on image processing or image analysis techniques based on the image spectrum (including interpolation, texture analysis, image quality assessment, etc.). In this paper, we show that an image can be decomposed into a sum of a “periodic component” and a “smooth component”, which brings a simple and computationally efficient answer to this problem. We discuss the interest of such a decomposition on several applications.  相似文献

This paper presents a modular system for both abnormal event detection and categorization in videos. Complementary normalcy models are built both globally at the image level and locally within pixels blocks. Three features are analyzed: (1) spatio-temporal evolution of binary motion where foreground pixels are detected using an enhanced background subtraction method that keeps track of temporarily static pixels; (2) optical flow, using a robust pyramidal KLT technique; and (3) motion temporal derivatives. At the local level, a normalcy MOG model is built for each block and for each flow feature and is made more compact using PCA. Then, the activity is analyzed qualitatively using a set of compact hybrid histograms embedding both optical flow orientation (or temporal gradient orientation) and foreground statistics. A compact binary signature of maximal size 13 bits is extracted from these different features for event characterization. The performance of the system is illustrated on different datasets of videos recorded on static cameras. The experiments show that the anomalies are well detected even if the method is not dedicated to one of the addressed scenarios.  相似文献

The separation of red blood cells from plasma flowing in microchannels is possible by biophysical effects such as the Zweifach–Fung bifurcation law. In the present study, daughter channels are placed alongside a main channel such that cells and plasma are collected separately. The device is aimed to be a versatile but yet very simple module producing high-speed and high-efficiency plasma separation. The resulting lab-on-a-chip is manufactured using biocompatible materials. Purity efficiency is measured for mussel and human blood suspensions as different parameters, such as flow rate and geometries of the parent and daughter channels are varied. The issues of blood plasma separation at the microscale are discussed in relation to the different regimes of flow. Results are compared with those obtained by other researchers in the field of micro-separation of blood.  相似文献

This paper presents a quantitative framework for early prediction of resource usage and load in distributed real-time systems (DRTS). The prediction is based on an analysis of UML 2.0 sequence diagrams, augmented with timing information, to extract timed-control flow information. It is aimed at improving the early predictability of a DRTS by offering a systematic approach to predict, at the design phase, system behavior in each time instant during its execution. Since behavioral models such as sequence diagrams are available in early design phases of the software life cycle, the framework enables resource analysis at a stage when design decisions are still easy to change. Though we provide a general framework, we use network traffic as an example resource type to illustrate how the approach is applied. We also indicate how usage and load analysis of other types of resources (e.g., CPU and memory) can be performed in a similar fashion. A case study illustrates the feasibility of the approach.

Texture and grain size distribution of the austenite phase at high temperature have distinct effects on the subsequent transformed microstructure and mechanical properties of steel alloys at room temperature. Measurement of austenite at high temperature is not, however, a trivial task especially if orientation maps are desired. Therefore, a technique for determining austenite texture and grain size that was present at high temperature is highly desirable. In this work, we review several pipe samples intended for use as well casing with large variations in toughness and martensitic microstructures at room temperature. Microstructural analysis of the martensite structures could not easily explain these differences due to how martensite forms from austenite. An algorithm was developed to reconstruct the parent austenite at high temperature from martensite microstructure at room temperature. This technique successfully reconstructed orientation maps for the prior austenite in these samples, demonstrating differences in texture, grain orientation spread, and austenite grain size that could account for the differences in mechanical properties.  相似文献

The network interconnection and its regulation consist in solving the following dilemma: increase competition and preserve the universal service through access charges, which symbolizes today institutional organization within the telecommunication industry. This paper presents some of the economic and social factors that drive the interconnection policies namely ona (open network architecture) in the United States, or onp (open network provision) in Europe. In the first section, we list some social and economical issues related to open network policies. In the second section, we study the different answers brought up by the regulator through alternative interconnection price formulas. In conclusion, we discuss the stakes and risks of interconnection, while the technological evolution of network introduces intelligent software in switching équipement and implements the tremendous abilities of the digital broadband networks.  相似文献

A dynamical model based on three coupled ordinary differential equations is introduced which is capable of generating realistic synthetic electrocardiogram (ECG) signals. The operator can specify the mean and standard deviation of the heart rate, the morphology of the PQRST cycle, and the power spectrum of the RR tachogram. In particular, both respiratory sinus arrhythmia at the high frequencies (HFs) and Mayer waves at the low frequencies (LFs) together with the LF/HF ratio are incorporated in the model. Much of the beat-to-beat variation in morphology and timing of the human ECG, including QT dispersion and R-peak amplitude modulation are shown to result. This model may be employed to assess biomedical signal processing techniques which are used to compute clinical statistics from the ECG.  相似文献

During an interview 20 patients who had attempted suicide and 20 matched nonsuicidal patients were asked to relate their favorite joke. Jokes were told by 12 attempters and 9 controls. 2 raters, blind to the purpose and nature of the study, rated each joke for direction of punishment expressed in the themes. Based on the combined chi-square probabilities associated with ratings by the 2 judges, suicidal Ss told significantly more jokes with a self-punishing theme than did nonsuicidal controls. The electropolymerizations of 2,2′-bithiophene and of pyrrole to form conducting polymers were investigated by several electrochemical methods. Cyclic voltammetry indicates that a peak at 1.1 V is associated with the polymer and that the same product is formed from thiophene as from 2,2′-bithiophene. The rate of polymer formation has a zero kinetic order dependence on monomer concentration for polymerization of pyrrole or 2,2′-bithiophene. A dependence on concentration of supporting electrolyte is interpreted as a consequence of anion diffusion and oxidative doping in the polymer. The kinetic results are consistent with an oxidative coupling mechanism for polymer formation. The electrochromic switching of the polymer film was investigated by spectroelectrochemical methods and the kinetics were examined over a range of film thicknesses.  相似文献

Thermoforming (free blowing) of poly(ethylene terephthalate) preforms was successfully and quickly performed in a rotating system designed for dielectric hysteresis heating. Temperature profile modeling was carried out with the amorphous poly(ethylene terephthalate) permittivity at different temperatures. The Maxwell and heat equations were used to determine the best profile and power tuning. The determination of the theoretical boundary conditions was accomplished by the adjustment of the numerical transient external surface wall temperature with experimental infrared pyrometry results. In comparison with infrared, microwaves allowed high power density absorption inside the perform wall without a dramatic temperature gradient. Consequently, the heat blowing stage could be accelerated, and the process took at least 5 times less energy than infrared heating.
