In most studies using informant reports of personality, the informants are recruited by the targets. Such informants may tend to like the targets and thus portray them in specific ways (e.g., too positively). Study 1 (N = 403) demonstrated the necessity to distinguish between “liking” and “knowing” in studying the relationships between informants and targets. Informants who liked their targets better described them more positively (i.e., as being more extraverted, agreeable, open, conscientious, and less neurotic). The association between personality ratings and liking was moderated by item evaluativeness. Liked targets were also described as being more similar to each other (range restriction), which would lower correlations of informant ratings of personality with external variables. Study 2 (N = 90) used a within-subjects design to disentangle actual personality differences between targets (substance) from the informants’ specific views on the targets (style). Ninety informants were asked to nominate targets they did not like. These targets then nominated informants of their own choice. Target-nominated informants liked the targets very much and described the targets’ personalities very positively and in ways that were highly redundant with the average target’s self-rating. There was evidence that lower liking may be associated with better accuracy. Higher subjective levels of knowing were not associated with better interrater agreement but with a greater willingness to describe targets negatively. Implications for the field of recruiting are discussed. Where possible, the choice of informants and referees should be made independent of the targets’ preferences. In technical applications strain gauges are widely used. Apart from conventional polymer foil based strain gauges that are glued to the work piece surface, sputtered strain gauges are already commercially used in special applications. Those sputter strain gauges are typically made of NiCr alloy and the sensor layer is as sensitive to strain as the ones used in the glued strain gauges with a gauge factor of 2, but neglecting problems of creeping and swelling of the involved polymer materials. Diamond-like carbon (DLC) films offer significantly higher strain sensitivity, but usually they are also very sensitive to temperature effects. Using metal doped diamond-like carbon (Me-DLC), higher strain sensitivity than conventional metal based systems, in combination with thermal compensation, is possible. The influence of different process parameters on the gauge factor and temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of DLC and Me-DLC films produced in industrial sputtering systems was investigated. Gauge factors up to 13 in combination with a high negative TCR in the range of a few thousand ppm/K were reached with sputtered DLC films. The substrate bias voltage in particular showed a strong influence on the resulting gauge factor of the films. For Me-DLC films different deposition methods (dc and rf sputtering) and various doping metals (Ag, Ni, Ti, and W) were investigated. Using dc sputtering of the Me-DLC films only Ni-DLC showed gauge factors slightly higher than 2. Furthermore, only for Ni-DLC zero crossing of the TCR was observed by variation of the metal content. Using rf excitation especially Ni-DLC films showed gauge factors exceeding values of 15 in combination with a TCR close to zero.  相似文献

Whereas the contribution from renewable energies in the electrical power market is increasing rapidly, similar progress in the heat market is yet to be made. A prerequisite for progress is the development of innovative support instruments that transcend the usual support through public subsidies or tax reductions. We present an overview of the various classes of possible instruments. Some particularly interesting instruments will be selected and evaluated, comparing them qualitatively and quantitatively for the case of Germany. The most favourable model is found to be a new, allocation-financed1 model known as the Bonus Model. This model will be described in more detail.  相似文献

The controlled assembly of gold nanoparticles in terms of the spatial arrangement and number of particles is essential for many future applications like electronic devices, sensors and labeling. Here an approach is presented to build up oligomers of mono functionalized gold nanoparticles by the use of 1,3‐bipolar azide alkyne cycloaddition click chemistry. The gold nanoparticles of 1.3 nm diameter are stabilized by one dendritic thioether ligand comprising an alkyne function. Together with di‐, tri‐ and tetra‐azide linker molecules the gold nanoparticle can be covalently coupled by a wet chemical protocol. The reaction is tracked with IR and UV–vis spectroscopy and the yielded organic‐inorganic hybrid structures are analyzed by transmission electron microscopy. To evaluate the success of this click chemistry reaction statistical analysis of the formed oligomers is performed. The geometric and spatial arrangements of the found oligomers match perfectly the calculated values for the used linker molecules. Dimers, trimers and tetramers could be identified after the reaction with the corresponding linker molecule. The results of this model reaction suggest that the used click chemistry protocol is working well with mono functionalized gold nanoparticles.  相似文献

Organic layers can be used to realize special functions in optical interference coatings. Suitable compounds for such layers were thermally evaporated and characterized. A plasma etching procedure was applied to produce nanostructures on top of the organic layers to reduce their effective refractive indices. Broadband antireflective coatings were obtained by combining these artificial low-index layers with conventionally prepared interference stacks.  相似文献

Antireflective coatings on sapphire were optimized by variation of the coating design, the total thickness, and the highly refractive material used. The coatings were characterized with a focus on their scratch resistance. It is known that austenite strength determines the morphology of the new phase during martensitic transformation. As the strength of austenite influences the growth of a martensite crystal, i.e. the movement of the austenite/martensite interface, a correlation between strength of the parent phase and Ms has to exist. Ms depends on thermodynamical and mechanical properties of the alloys. To distinguish the individual variables, austenite strength was changed by different hardening mechanisms: solid solution hardening, plastic deformation or both.  相似文献

Uniformly [14C]-ring-labeled 4-(3,5-dimethyl-3-heptyl)phenol (353-nonylphenol) is a highly relevant isomer of the technical nonylphenol mixture. We studied the sorption, desorption, and degradation of the synthesized isomer in an agricultural sandy loam at various soil/sewage sludge ratios. Sorption of 353-nonylphenol was high and differed with the amount of suspended soil in water. log Koc values, which are used to assess the risk of nonylphenol, ranged from 3.80 to 5.75. Desorption was slow and low and resulted in constant concentrations of about 15 ng/L353-nonylphenol in water after several desorption steps. In degradation studies up to 6% of the applied 353-nonylphenol in soil was volatilized; we consider this an important source of nonylphenol in the environment. With increasing amounts of sewage sludge in the soil/sewage sludge mixtures, 353-nonylphenol was stabilized, probably because of the lack of oxygen in sludge aggregates even under oxic conditions in flow-through systems. Unexpectedly, a less-polar metabolite was detected in amounts up to 40% of the applied nonylphenol after 135 days of incubation. This novel metabolite was identified as 4-(3,5-dimethyl-3-heptyl)-2-nitrophenol. This product formation might indicate the existence of novel metabolic pathways of nonylphenol in the environment.  相似文献

Chromatin remodelling and histone-modifying complexes govern the modulation of chromatin structure. While components of these complexes are diverse, nuclear actin-related proteins (Arps) have been repeatedly found in these complexes from yeast to mammals. In most cases, Arps are required for functioning of the complexes, but the molecular mechanisms of nuclear Arps have as yet been largely unknown. The Arps and actin, sharing a common ancestor, are supposed to be highly similar in the three-dimensional structure of their core regions, including the ATP-binding pocket. The Arp Act3p/Arp4p of Saccharomyces cerevisiae exists within the nucleus, partly as a component of several high molecular mass complexes, including the NuA4 histone acetyltransferase (HAT) complex, and partly as uncomplexed molecules. We observed that mutations in the putative ATP-binding pocket of Act3p/Arp4p increased its concentration in the high molecular mass complexes and, conversely, that an excess of ATP or ATPgammaS led to the release of wild-type Act3p/Arp4p from the complexes. These results suggest a requirement of ATP binding by Act3p/Arp4p for its dissociation from the complexes. In accordance, a mutation in the putative ATP binding site of Act3p/Arp4p inhibited the conversion of the NuA4 complex into the smaller piccoloNuA4, which does not contain Act3p/Arp4p and exhibits HAT activity distinct from that of NuA4. Although the in vitro binding activity of ATP by recombinant Act3p/Arp4p was found to be rather weak, our observations, taken together, suggest that the ATP-binding pocket of Act3p/Arp4p is involved in the function of chromatin modulating complexes by regulating their dynamics.  相似文献
