Amorphous silicon carbide (a-SiC:H) thin films were synthesized using trichloromethylsilane by a hot wire chemical vapor deposition process. The deposited films were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, x-ray diffraction and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy to confirm its chemical bonding, structural network and composition of the a-SiC:H films. The optical microscopy images reveal that hydrogen dilution increased the surface roughness and pore density of a-SiC:H thin film. The Raman spectroscopy and FTIR spectra reveal chemical network consisting of Si-Si, C-C and Si-C bonds, respectively. The XRD spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy indicate a-SiC:H still has short-range order. In addition, in vitro cytotoxicity test ensures the behavior of cell–semiconductor hybrid to monitor the proper coordination. The live–dead assays and MTT assay reveal an increase in green nucleus cell, and cell viability is greater than 88%, respectively, showing non-toxic nature of prepared a-SiC:H film. Moreover, the result indicated by direct contact assay, and cell prefers to adhere and proliferate on a-SiC:H thin films having a positive effect as artificial heart valve coating material.  相似文献

Transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), a member of the TGF-β cytokine superfamily, is known to bind to sulfated glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), but the nature of this interaction remains unclear. In a recent study, we found that preterm human milk TGF-β2 is sequestered by chondroitin sulfate (CS) in its proteoglycan form. To understand the molecular basis of the TGF-β2–CS interaction, we utilized the computational combinatorial virtual library screening (CVLS) approach in tandem with molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. All possible CS oligosaccharides were generated in a combinatorial manner to give 24 di- (CS02), 192 tetra- (CS04), and 1536 hexa- (CS06) saccharides. This library of 1752 CS oligosaccharides was first screened against TGF-β2 using the dual filter CVLS algorithm in which the GOLDScore and root-mean-square-difference (RMSD) between the best bound poses were used as surrogate markers for in silico affinity and in silico specificity. CVLS predicted that both the chain length and level of sulfation are critical for the high affinity and high specificity recognition of TGF-β2. Interestingly, CVLS led to identification of two distinct sites of GAG binding on TGF-β2. CVLS also deduced the preferred composition of the high specificity hexasaccharides, which were further assessed in all-atom explicit solvent MD simulations. The MD results confirmed that both sites of binding form stable GAG–protein complexes. More specifically, the highly selective CS chains were found to engage the TGF-β2 monomer with high affinity. Overall, this work present key principles of recognition with regard to the TGF-β2–CS system. In the process, it led to the generation of the in silico library of all possible CS oligosaccharides, which can be used for advanced studies on other protein–CS systems. Finally, the study led to the identification of unique CS sequences that are predicted to selectively recognize TGF-β2 and may out-compete common natural CS biopolymers.  相似文献

In this article we describe an application of active contour model for the segmentation of 3D histo-pathological images. The 3D images of a thick tissue specimen are obtained as a stack of optical sections using confocal laser beam scanning microscope (CLSM). We have applied noise reduction and feature enhancement methods so that a smooth and slowly varying potential surface is obtained for proper convergence. To increase the capture range of the potential surface, we use a combination of distance potential and the diffused gradient potential as external forces. It has been shown that the region-based information obtained from low-level segmentation can be applied to reduce the adverse influence of the neighbouring nucleus having a strong boundary feature. We have also shown that, by increasing the axial resolution of the image stack, we can automatically propagate the optimum active contour of one image slice to its neighbouring image slices as an appropriate initial model. Results on images of prostate tissue section are presented.  相似文献

This paper reports the feasibility of using pre-consumer processing agricultural waste to remove Cr(VI) from synthetic wastewater under different experimental conditions. For this, rice husk, has been used after pre-treatments (boiling and formaldehyde treatment). Effect of various process parameters, namely, pH, adsorbent dose, initial chromium concentration and contact time has been studied in batch systems. The removal of chromium was dependent on the physico-chemical characteristics of the adsorbent, adsorbate concentration and other studied process parameters. Maximum metal removal was observed at pH 2.0. The efficiencies of boiled and formaldehyde treated rice husk for Cr(VI) removal were 71.0% and 76.5% respectively for dilute solutions at 20gl(-1) adsorbent dose. The experimental data were analyzed using Freundlich, Langmuir and Dubinin-Radushkevich (D-R) isotherm models. It was found that Freundlich and D-R models fitted well. The results revealed that the hexavalent chromium is considerably adsorbed on rice husk and it could be an economical method for the removal of hexavalent chromium from aqueous systems. FTIR and SEM were recorded, before and after adsorption, to explore number and position of the functional groups available for Cr(VI) binding on to studied adsorbents and changes in adsorbent surface morphology.  相似文献

A cost-benefit analysis of a third camera for stereo correspondence   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
This paper looks at the twin issues of the gain in accuracy of stereo correspondence and the accompanying increase in computational cost due to the use of a third camera for stereo analysis. Trinocular stereo algorithms differ from binocular algorithms essentially in the epipolar constraint used in the local matching stage. The current literature does not provide any insight into the relative merits of binocular and trinocular stereo matching with the matching accuracy being verified aginst the ground truth. Experiments for evaluating the relative performance of binocular and trinocular stereo algorithms were conducted. The stereo images used for the performance evaluation were generated by applying a Lambertian reflectance model to real Digital Elevation Maps (DEMs) available from the U.S. Geological Survey. The matching accuracy of the stereo algorithms was evaluated by comparing the observed stereo disparity against the ground truth derived from the DEMs. It was observed that trinocular local matching reduced the percentage of mismatches having large disparity errors by more than half when compared to binocular matching. On the other hand, trinocular stereopsis increased the computational cost of local matching over binocular by only about one-fourth. We also present a quantization-error analysis of the depth reconstruction process for the nonparallel stereo-imaging geometry used in our experiments.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Aflatoxin contamination of various commodities can occur as a result of infection, mainly by Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus. Every year, almost 25% of the world's food supply is contaminated by mycotoxins. Aflatoxins B1, B2, G1 and G2, which occur naturally, are significant contaminants of a wide variety of commodities. A number of biological activities have been associated with Ageratum conyzoides. We have therefore investigated the antiaflatoxigenic, antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of essential oils of A. conyzoides. This could help to turn A. conyzoides, a nuisance weed, into a resource. RESULTS: The essential oil of Ageratum conyzoides L. shows the presence of 12 compounds when analyzed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry. The growth and aflatoxin production of the toxigenic strain Aspergillus parasiticus was completely inhibited by essential oil. All the studied concentrations of the oil demonstrate a reduction in mycelia growth and decreased production of different aflatoxins in fungi, as revealed by liquid chomatographic–tandem mass spectrometric analysis. Volatiles from macerated green leaf tissue of A. conyzoides were also effective against A. parasiticus. The strongest antibacterial activity was observed against the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis in a disk diffusion bioassay. Essential oil and methanol extract of A. conyzoides L. were assayed for their antioxidant activity. Methanol extract showed the highest antioxidant activity in FRAP and DPPH assay, whereas essential oil showed greater lipid peroxidation inhibition than methanol extract. CONCLUSION: The plant's ethno‐medicinal importance, antioxidant potential, inhibitory activity against the Aspergillus group of fungi and production of aflatoxins may add a new dimension to its usefulness in the protection of stored product. Nonvolatile memory technologies in Si-based electronics date back to the 1990s. Ferroelectric field-effect transistor (FeFET) was one of the most promising devices replacing the conventional Flash memory facing physical scaling limitations at those times. A variant of charge storage memory referred to as Flash memory is widely used in consumer electronic products such as cell phones and music players while NAND Flash-based solid-state disks (SSDs) are increasingly displacing hard disk drives as the primary storage device in laptops, desktops, and even data centers. The integration limit of Flash memories is approaching, and many new types of memory to replace conventional Flash memories have been proposed. Emerging memory technologies promise new memories to store more data at less cost than the expensive-to-build silicon chips used by popular consumer gadgets including digital cameras, cell phones and portable music players. They are being investigated and lead to the future as potential alternatives to existing memories in future computing systems. Emerging nonvolatile memory technologies such as magnetic random-access memory (MRAM), spin-transfer torque random-access memory (STT-RAM), ferroelectric random-access memory (FeRAM), phase-change memory (PCM), and resistive random-access memory (RRAM) combine the speed of static random-access memory (SRAM), the density of dynamic random-access memory (DRAM), and the nonvolatility of Flash memory and so become very attractive as another possibility for future memory hierarchies. Many other new classes of emerging memory technologies such as transparent and plastic, three-dimensional (3-D), and quantum dot memory technologies have also gained tremendous popularity in recent years. Subsequently, not an exaggeration to say that computer memory could soon earn the ultimate commercial validation for commercial scale-up and production the cheap plastic knockoff. Therefore, this review is devoted to the rapidly developing new class of memory technologies and scaling of scientific procedures based on an investigation of recent progress in advanced Flash memory devices.  相似文献

We investigated the properties of indium-doped zinc oxide layers grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition on semi-insulating GaN(0001) templates. Specular and transparent films were grown with n-type carrier concentrations up to 1.82 × 1019 cm−3 as determined by Hall measurements, and all In-doped films had carrier concentrations significantly higher than that of a comparable undoped film. For low In flows, the carrier concentration increased accordingly with trimethyl-indium (TMIn) flow until a maximum carrier concentration of 1.82 × 1019 cm−3 was realized. For higher In flows, the carrier concentration decreased with increasing TMIn flow rate. Sheet resistance as low as 185 Ω/sq was achieved for the In-doped films, which is a significant decrease from that of a comparable undoped ZnO film. Our n-type doping studies show that In is an effective dopant for controlling the n-type conductivity of ZnO.  相似文献
