The electromigration process has the potential capability to move atoms one by one when properly controlled. It is therefore an appealing tool to tune the cross section of monoatomic compounds with ultimate resolution or, in the case of polyatomic compounds, to change the stoichiometry with the same atomic precision. As demonstrated here, a combination of electromigration and anti‐electromigration can be used to reversibly displace atoms with a high degree of control. This enables a fine adjustment of the superconducting properties of Al weak links, whereas in Nb the diffusion of atoms leads to a more irreversible process. In a superconductor with a complex unit cell (La2?x Cex CuO4), the electromigration process acts selectively on the oxygen atoms with no apparent modification of the structure. This allows to adjust the doping of this compound and switch from a superconducting to an insulating state in a nearly reversible fashion. In addition, the conditions needed to replace feedback controlled electromigration by a simpler technique of electropulsing are discussed. These findings have a direct practical application as a method to explore the dependence of the characteristic parameters on the exact oxygen content and pave the way for a reversible control of local properties of nanowires. 相似文献

Ionic self‐assembly of charged molecular building blocks relies on the interplay between long‐range electrostatic forces and short‐range, often cooperative, supramolecular interactions, yet has been seldom studied in two dimensions at the solid–liquid interface. Here, we demonstrate anion‐driven switching of two‐dimensional (2D) crystal structure at the Au(111)/octanoic acid interface. Using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), three organic salts with identical polyaromatic cation (PQPC6+) but different anions (perchlorate, anthraquinonedisulfonate, benzenesulfonate) are shown to form distinct, highly ordered self‐assembled structures. Reversible switching of the supramolecular arrangement is demonstrated by in situ exchange of the anion on the pre‐formed adlayer, by changing the concentration ratio between the incoming and outgoing anion. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that perchlorate is highly mobile in the adlayer, and corroborate why this anion is only resolved transiently in STM. Surprisingly, the templating effect of the anion persists even where it does not become part of the adlayer 2D fabric, which we ascribe to differences in stabilization of cation conformations by the anion. Our results provide important insight into the structuring of mixed anion–cation adlayers. This is essential in the design of tectons for ionic self‐assembled superstructures and biomimetic adaptive materials and valuable also to understand adsorbate–adsorbate interactions in heterogeneous catalysis. 相似文献

Extrusions of hollow profiles with weld seams were conducted using the magnesium alloy ME21 applying various extrusion ratios. Subsequent analysis of the profiles’ microstructure was performed comparing weld free with weld seam containing material using (polarized) light optical microscopy (LOM). Additionally, the local texture and microstructure in the weld-free material as well as in the weld seam region has been examined with a scanning electron microscope coupled with electron backscatter diffraction technique (SEM-EBSD). The weld-free material and the weld seam are characterized by recrystallized microstructures, whereas few residual cast grains were identified. The local texture distinctively changes from the weld-free material to the weld seam. The texture of the weld-free material is comparable with the typical ME21 sheet texture. In the weld seam area, a pole density is found, which is distributed towards the transverse direction (TD) combined with a split and broadening of the pole density in the extrusion direction (ED). This texture influences the mechanical anisotropy due to the dependence of the activation of basal 〈a〉-slip and \( \{ 10\bar{1}2\} \;\langle 10\bar{1}1\rangle \)-extension twinning on the loading direction in favorably oriented grains. 相似文献

In order to clarify the influence of intrauterine growth restriction on systemic hemodynamics, catecholamine response, and regional distribution of brain energy metabolites per se and during mild hypoxic episodes a study was performed in thirty newborns with a well-characterized state of intrauterine and intra-natal development. Thirty animals were divided into fifteen normal weight piglets (NW) and fifteen intrauterine growth restricted (IUGR) piglets according to their birth weight. Category "NW" covered animals with a birth weight of > 40th percentile; IUGR category covered animals with a birth weight of > 5th and < 10th percentiles. Animals were anesthetized with halothane in 70% nitrous oxide and 30% oxygen and after immobilization artificially ventilated. The acid-base balance and blood gas values at baseline conditions were similar within the different groups investigated and consistent with other data obtained from anesthetized and artificially ventilated newborn piglets. Mild hypoxic hypoxia which was induced by lowering the FiO2 from 0.35 to 0.15 resulted in reduced arterial pO2 (NW: from 115 +/- 37 mmHg to 39 +/- 7 mmHg; IUGR: from 117 +/- 23 mmHg to 39 +/- 3 mmHg; p < 0.05), but arterial pH and pCO2 remained unchanged. Under baseline conditions arterial blood pressure, cardiac output, and myocardial contractility, expressed as dp/dt(max) and plasma catecholamine values were similar in all groups studied. Heart rate was slightly increased in IUGR (p < 0.05). Mild hypoxia led to a strong increase of myocardial contractility in NW as well as IUGR piglets to 2.4 and 2.7 fold and remained increased during recovery (p < 0.05). Moreover, total peripheral resistance was enhanced at the end of recovery period in IUGR animals (p < 0.05). There was a significant increase of epinephrine (E) in NW animals in comparison to sham-operated animals (p < 0.05). Interestingly, during reoxygenation the further increase in E and norepinephrine (NE) levels were enhanced in the animals which suffered from mild hypoxia (p < 0.05). Regional distribution of brain tissue metabolites was partly affected by intrauterine growth restriction. In particular, brain tissue glucose content was strongly reduced by 65 to 72 per cent in all brain regions investigated. Mild hypoxia led to an increase of about 30 percent in NW animals (p < 0.05). In IUGR piglets the percentage increase of brain glucose content was on an average more pronounced but with considerably higher variance. Also, a strong increase of brain lactate content appeared here (p < 0.05). In contrast, brain tissue ATP was quite similar in all groups studied, but brain creatine phosphate was significantly reduced in some forebrain structures of IUGR piglets after mild hypoxia (figure 2, p < 0.05). In summary, this investigation provides information on cardiovascular functions and brain metabolites of normal weight and naturally occurring growth restricted newborn piglets. Mild hypoxemia was well-tolerated from both animal groups. It is suggested that lactate may play a significant role as a source for brain energy production in the newborn IUGR piglets. 相似文献

Embedded wireless sensors are important components of mobile distributed computing networks, and one of the target applications
areas is health care. The preservation of mobility for senior citizens is one of the key issues in maintaining an independent
lifestyle. Thus health technologies inside a car can contribute both to safety issues (supervision of driver fitness) as well
as healthcare issues by monitoring vitals signs imperceptibly. In this paper, three embedded measurement techniques for non-contact
monitoring of vital signals have been investigated. Specifically, capacitive electrocardiogram (cECG) monitoring, mechanical
movement analysis (ballistocardiogram, BCG) using piezo-foils and inductive impedance monitoring were examined regarding their
potential for integration into car seats. All three sensing techniques omit the need for electroconductive contact to the
human body, but require defined mechanical boundary conditions (stable distances or, in the case of BCG, frictional connection).
The physical principles of operation, the specific boundary conditions regarding automotive integration and the results during
wireless operation in a running car are presented. All three sensors were equipped with local intelligence by incorporating
a microcontroller. To eliminate the need for additional cabling, a wireless Bluetooth communication module was added and used
to transmit data to a measurement PC. Finally, preliminary results obtained during test drives on German city roads and highways

Code injection attacks are one of the most powerful and important classes of attacks on software. In these attacks, the attacker sends malicious input to a software application, where it is stored in memory. The malicious input is chosen in such a way that its representation in memory is also a valid representation of a machine code program that performs actions chosen by the attacker. The attacker then triggers a bug in the application to divert the control flow to this injected machine code. A typical action of the injected code is to launch a command interpreter shell, and hence the malicious input is often called shellcode. Attacks are usually performed against network facing applications, and such applications often perform validations or encodings on input. Hence, a typical hurdle for attackers, is that the shellcode has to pass one or more filtering methods before it is stored in the vulnerable application??s memory space. Clearly, for a code injection attack to succeed, the malicious input must survive such validations and transformations. Alphanumeric input (consisting only of letters and digits) is typically very robust for this purpose: it passes most filters and is untouched by most transformations. This paper studies the power of alphanumeric shellcode on the ARM architecture. It shows that the subset of ARM machine code programs that (when interpreted as data) consist only of alphanumerical characters is a Turing complete subset. This is a non-trivial result, as the number of instructions that consist only of alphanumeric characters is very limited. To craft useful exploit code (and to achieve Turing completeness), several tricks are needed, including the use of self-modifying code. 相似文献

IntroductionAll hospitals in the province of Styria (Austria) are well equipped with sophisticated Information Technology, which provides all-encompassing on-screen patient information. Previous research made on the theoretical properties, advantages and disadvantages, of reading from paper vs. reading from a screen has resulted in the assumption that reading from a screen is slower, less accurate and more tiring. However, recent flat screen technology, especially on the basis of LCD, is of such high quality that obviously this assumption should now be challenged. As the electronic storage and presentation of information has many advantages in addition to a faster transfer and processing of the information, the usage of electronic screens in clinics should outperform the traditional hardcopy in both execution and preference ratings.This study took part in a County hospital Styria, Austria, with 111 medical professionals, working in a real-life setting. They were each asked to read original and authentic diagnosis reports, a gynecological report and an internal medical document, on both screen and paper in a randomly assigned order. Reading comprehension was measured by the Chunked Reading Test, and speed and accuracy of reading performance was quantified. In order to get a full understanding of the clinicians' preferences, subjective ratings were also collected.ResultsWilcoxon Signed Rank Tests showed no significant differences on reading performance between paper vs. screen. However, medical professionals showed a significant (90%) preference for reading from paper. Despite the high quality and the benefits of electronic media, paper still has some qualities which cannot provided electronically do date. 相似文献
