This work presents an interesting method using an electrospinning process to fabricate suture yarns loaded with curcumin to achieve reasonable mechanical properties as well as tunable drug release behavior. Different structures including different yarn counts and twists as well as core-sheath structures were used to adjust drug release properties along with improving the yarn's mechanical properties. The core parts were made of polycaprolactone and the sheath parts were made of polyethylene glycol, polylactic acid, and polycaprolactone. Drugs can be incorporated in both parts based on the required condition and application. Electrospun yarns were compared using both structural properties and their drug release profiles as metrics. The results of comparing drug release profiles of six electrospun yarns with different yarn counts and twists showed that yarns with finer fiber diameters in the core part have more drug release as well as more initial release. Overall evaluations showed that core-sheath drugloaded yarn with appropriate physical and mechanical properties can be a useful material as a drug delivery system to the site of damaged tissue. It can also be concluded that the amount and duration of drug release can be controlled using the structural parameters of electrospun yarns as an engineering tool for designing suture yarns with required properties.  相似文献

In this study, plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) composites with different nanofillers, including single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs), organoclay, TiO2, and ZnO nanoparticles, were prepared, and their effects on plasticizer migration were investigated. Scanning electron micrographs revealed the dispersion quality of the nanofillers in the polymer matrix. It had a significant influence on the performance of the nanofillers in the process of plasticizer migration. Migration and exudation tests showed that the nanofillers could efficiently hinder plasticizer migration. On the basis of these results, we concluded that carbon nanotubes were the best antimigration agent in the plasticized system. This was ascribed to the high aspect ratio of the SWCNTs and the good interactions between them and the plasticizer. Also, TiO2 nanoparticles showed a better performance compared to the ZnO nanoparticles. This was due to the more homogeneous dispersion of the TiO2 in the polymer matrix and the higher surface area of the particles. The differential scanning calorimetry thermograms were in good agreement with the migration tests. The lowest change in the glass‐transition temperature was observed for the composite filled with SWCNTs. This indicated that a lower amount of the plasticizer migrated from PVC. The thermogravimetric analysis curves showed that the incorporation of the nanofillers improved the thermal stability of the PVC. The authors aimed to design nanofibrous (NF) scaffolds that facilitate odontogenic and osteogenic differentiation of human dental pulp-derived mesenchymal stem cells (DPSCs) in vitro. For this purpose, hydroxyapatite (HA)–loaded poly (L-lactic acid)/poly (?-caprolactone) (PLLA:PCL 2;1) blend NFs were prepared using the electrospinning method. Alizarin red activity and cell viability were evaluated by MTT assay, and SEM revealed the proliferation properties of NF scaffolds. QRT-PCR results demonstrated that HA-loaded PLLA/PCL can lead to osteoblast/odontoblast differentiation in DPSCs through the up-regulation of related genes, thus indicating that electrospun biodegradable PCL/PLA/HA has remarkable prospects as scaffolds for bone and tooth tissue engineering.  相似文献
