The electronic Raman spectrum for the experimentally relevant polarizations is calculated within a Hubbard-type model for anisotropic superconductors and compared with the results for the standard Coulomb model. The requirement of gauge invariance is shown to play an especially important role. The Raman A1g response depends rather sensitively on band structure.  相似文献

Smooth, highly spherical, crosslinked chitosan microspheres in the size range of 45-300 microns loaded with progesterone were prepared by glutaraldehyde crosslinking of an aqueous acetic acid dispersion of chitosan containing progesterone in a non-aqueous dispersion medium consisting of liquid paraffin and petroleum ether stabilized using sorbitan sesquioleate. In vitro release of the drug into phosphate buffer at 37 degrees C was determined as a function of crosslinking density of the microspheres and particle size. The extent of drug release had a remarkable dependence on the crosslinking density of the microspheres, the highly crosslinked spheres releasing only around 35% of the incorporated steroid in 40 days compared to 70% from spheres lightly crosslinked. Determination of the in vivo bioavailability of the steroid from microsphere formulation by intramuscular injection in rabbits showed that a plasma concentration of 1 to 2 ng/ml was maintained up to 5 months without a high 'burst effect'. Data obtained suggest that the crosslinked chitosan microspheres would be an interesting system for long term delivery of steroids.  相似文献

The microwave frequency performance of InAs/ AlSb/GaSb resonant interband tunneling diodes has been examined experimentally. A bias-dependent small-signal circuit model that matches the measured data well for the full range of measured frequencies (dc to 35 GHz) and the full range of device biases (0 to 0.5 V) has been obtained. To the author's knowledge, this is the first report of a microwave-frequency circuit model that is valid over the full range of device operating biases, including the negative differential resistance region. The bias dependence of the circuit elements contained within the model is examined, and is consistent with device operational principles  相似文献

In this paper, a new delay-derivative-dependent sliding mode observer (SMO) design for a class of linear uncertain time-varying delay systems is presented. Based on this observer, a robust actuator fault reconstruction method is developed. In the meantime, the considered uncertainty is bounded and the time-delay is varying and affects the state system. Besides, the dynamic properties of the observer are analyzed and the reachability condition is satisfied. Applying the developed SMO, the \(H_\infty \) concept and a delay-derivative-dependent bounded real lemma (BRL), a robust actuator fault reconstruction is obtained wherein the effect of the uncertainty is minimized. Also, both the SMO and the BRL are delay-derivative-dependent which reduces the time-varying delay conservatism on the state estimation and on the fault reconstruction. A diesel engine system is included to illustrate the validity and the applicability of the proposed approaches.  相似文献

This paper presents an extended 3-D exact rebinning formula in the Fourier space that leads to an iterative reprojection algorithm (iterative FOREPROJ), which enables the estimation of unmeasured oblique projection data on the basis of the whole set of measured data. In first approximation, this analytical formula also leads to an extended Fourier rebinning equation that is the basis for an approximate reprojection algorithm (extended FORE). These algorithms were evaluated on numerically simulated 3-D positron emission tomography (PET) data for the solution of the truncation problem, i.e., the estimation of the missing portions in the oblique projection data, before the application of algorithms that require complete projection data such as some rebinning methods (FOREX) or 3-D reconstruction algorithms (3DRP or direct Fourier methods). By taking advantage of all the 3-D data statistics, the iterative FOREPROJ reprojection provides a reliable alternative to the classical FOREPROJ method, which only exploits the low-statistics nonoblique data. It significantly improves the quality of the external reconstructed slices without loss of spatial resolution. As for the approximate extended FORE algorithm, it clearly exhibits limitations due to axial interpolations, but will require clinical studies with more realistic measured data in order to decide on its pertinence.  相似文献

An association between air pollution and mortality in six U.S. cities   总被引:35,自引:0,他引:35  
BACKGROUND: Recent studies have reported associations between particulate air pollution and daily mortality rates. Population-based, cross-sectional studies of metropolitan areas in the United States have also found associations between particulate air pollution and annual mortality rates, but these studies have been criticized, in part because they did not directly control for cigarette smoking and other health risks. METHODS: In this prospective cohort study, we estimated the effects of air pollution on mortality, while controlling for individual risk factors. Survival analysis, including Cox proportional-hazards regression modeling, was conducted with data from a 14-to-16-year mortality follow-up of 8111 adults in six U.S. cities. RESULTS: Mortality rates were most strongly associated with cigarette smoking. After adjusting for smoking and other risk factors, we observed statistically significant and robust associations between air pollution and mortality. The adjusted mortality-rate ratio for the most polluted of the cities as compared with the least polluted was 1.26 (95 percent confidence interval, 1.08 to 1.47). Air pollution was positively associated with death from lung cancer and cardiopulmonary disease but not with death from other causes considered together. Mortality was most strongly associated with air pollution with fine particulates, including sulfates. CONCLUSIONS: Although the effects of other, unmeasured risk factors cannot be excluded with certainty, these results suggest that fine-particulate air pollution, or a more complex pollution mixture associated with fine particulate matter, contributes to excess mortality in certain U.S. cities.  相似文献

The role of surface chemistry on the toxicity of Ag nanoparticles is investigated using Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast as a platform for evaluation. Combining the shape‐controlled synthesis of Ag nanoparticles with a comprehensive characterization of their physicochemical properties, an understanding is formed of the correlation between the physicochemical parameters of nanoparticles and the inhibition growth of yeast cells upon the introduction of nanoparticles into the cell culture system. Capping agents, surface facets, and sample stability—the three experimental parameters that are inherent from the wet‐chemical synthesis of Ag nanoparticles—have a strong impact on toxicity evaluation. Hence, it is important to characterize surface properties of Ag nanoparticles in the nature of biological media and to understand the role that surface chemistry may interplay to correlate the physicochemical properties of nanoparticles with their biological response upon exposure. This work demonstrates the great importance of surface chemistry in designing experiments for reliable toxicity evaluation and in mitigating the toxicity of Ag nanoparticles for their safe use in future commercialization.  相似文献

Traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI) initiates a series of cellular and molecular events that include both primary and secondary injury cascades. This secondary cascade provides opportunities for the delivery of therapeutic intervention. Growth differentiation factor 11 (GDF11), a member of the transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) superfamily, regulates various biological processes in mammals. The effects of GDF11 in the nervous system were not fully elucidated. Here, we perform extensive in vitro and in vivo studies to unravel the effects of GDF11 on spinal cord after injury. In vitro culture studies showed that GDF11 increased the survival of both neuronal and oligodendroglial cells but decreased microglial cells. In stressed cultures, GDF11 effectively inhibited LPS stimulation and also protected neurons from ischemic damage. Intravenous GDF11 administration to rat after eliciting SCI significantly improved hindlimb functional restoration of SCI rats. Reduced neuronal connectivity was evident at 6 weeks post-injury and these deficits were markedly attenuated by GDF11 treatment. Furthermore, SCI-associated oligodendroglial alteration were more preserved by GDF11 treatment. Taken together, GDF11 infusion via intravenous route to SCI rats is beneficial, facilitating its therapeutic application in the future.  相似文献

In this paper, we present an automatic foreground object detection method for videos captured by freely moving cameras. While we focus on extracting a single foreground object of interest throughout a video sequence, our approach does not require any training data nor the interaction by the users. Based on the SIFT correspondence across video frames, we construct robust SIFT trajectories in terms of the calculated foreground feature point probability. Our foreground feature point probability is able to determine candidate foreground feature points in each frame, without the need of user interaction such as parameter or threshold tuning. Furthermore, we propose a probabilistic consensus foreground object template (CFOT), which is directly applied to the input video for moving object detection via template matching. Our CFOT can be used to detect the foreground object in videos captured by a fast moving camera, even if the contrast between the foreground and background regions is low. Moreover, our proposed method can be generalized to foreground object detection in dynamic backgrounds, and is robust to viewpoint changes across video frames. The contribution of this paper is trifold: (1) we provide a robust decision process to detect the foreground object of interest in videos with contrast and viewpoint variations; (2) our proposed method builds longer SIFT trajectories, and this is shown to be robust and effective for object detection tasks; and (3) the construction of our CFOT is not sensitive to the initial estimation of the foreground region of interest, while its use can achieve excellent foreground object detection results on real-world video data.  相似文献
