The problem of the choice of optimal chemical composition of shipbuilding steel in the presence of several optimal criteria is considered. The solution of the problem is based on particular results of the theory of relative importance of criteria and uses particular numerical information on relative importance of criteria.     

Thermodynamic modeling of liquid crystal-nonmesogen systems in the approximation of the theory of regular solutions

Nematic (or smectic-nematic) liquid crystal-nonmesogen systems are investigated by thermal analysis methods. A method for predicting the T-x diagrams of these systems using a model of regular solutions is proposed. The method gives good agreement between the predicted and experimental data in determining the phase separation in a system and calculating solubility polytherms. Specific features of calculation of the solubility parameter of liquid-crystal compounds are considered.

Fundamental laws of the deformational behavior of erythrocytes in shear flow

The dependences of the deformability parameter of erythrocytes on the shear stress in the Couette flow upon a change in their membrane rigidity or internal-content viscosity have been investigated by the diffractometric (ectacytometric) method. The results obtained suggest that the yield stress of cells measured by this method reflects the deformability of erythrocyte membranes, and the slope of the deformation curve rectified in the semilogarithmic coordinate system depends on the viscosity of the internal content of the cell. Modification of electronic properties of the surface of (100) silicon crystals under microwave plasma micromachining

The behavior of the effect of microwave plasma micromachining on electronic properties of (100) silicon crystal surfaces at weak adsorption was investigated. Model process mechanisms and factors providing stable modification of the electronic properties of the silicon surface by the formation of built-in surface potentials determined by chemical reactivity of the used working gases and modes of microwave plasma treatment were considered. The possibility in principle of the active formation of electronic properties of the surface of semiconductor crystals to extend their electrophysical and functional properties was shown.
