The tempering behaviour of a dual phase steel of 0.08% C, 1.21% Mn, 1.00% Si, 0.42% Cr, and 0.41% Mo composition with two different martensite contents of 30 and 52%. (obtained by intercritical treatments at 820 and 860°C, respectively) has been studied. The ultimate tensile strength decreased and percentage elongation increased continuously with increasing tempering temperature up to 600°C for both intercritical treatments. The yield strength has, however, increased up to 300°C, beyond which it decreased for the steel with 30% martensite. In contrast it remained almost constant for 52% martensite up to 300°C, beyond which it decreased. The martensite of dual-phase steel for both the intercritical treatments has undergone microstructural changes on tempering that are akin to those of fully martensitic low carbon steels. The SEM fractographs from the as-quenched specimens indicate that the tensile specimens failed by microvoid coalescence with the martensite areas appearing facetted and featureless while those for 600°C tempered condition by the formation of equiaxed dimples.  相似文献

Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (THDC) is an L-ascorbic acid precursor with improved stability and ability to penetrate the epidermis. The stability and transdermal penetration of THDC, however, may be compromised by the oxidant-rich environment of human skin. In this study, we show that THDC is a poor antioxidant that degrades rapidly when exposed to singlet oxygen. This degradation, however, was prevented by combination with acetyl zingerone (AZ) as a stabilizing antioxidant. As a standalone ingredient, THDC led to unexpected activation of type I interferon signaling, but this pro-inflammatory effect was blunted in the presence of AZ. Moreover, the combination of THDC and AZ increased expression of genes associated with phospholipid homeostasis and keratinocyte differentiation, along with repression of MMP1 and MMP7 expression, inhibition of MMP enzyme activity, and increased production of collagen proteins by dermal fibroblasts. Lastly, whereas THDC alone reduced viability of keratinocytes exposed to oxidative stress, this effect was completely abrogated by the addition of AZ to THDC. These results show that AZ is an effective antioxidant stabilizer of THDC and that combination of these products may improve ascorbic acid delivery. This provides a step towards reaching the full potential of ascorbate as an active ingredient in topical preparations.  相似文献

The creation of a routing overlay network on the Internet requires the identification of shorter detour paths between end hosts in comparison to the default path available. These detour paths are typically the edges forming a Triangle Inequality Violation (TIV), an artifact of the Internet delay space where the sum of latencies across an intermediate hop is lesser than the direct latency between the pair of end hosts. These violations are caused mainly due to interdomain routing policies between Autonomous Systems (ASes) and AS peering through Internet eXchange Points (IXPs). Identifying detours for a global overlay network requires large amounts of computational capabilities due to the sheer number of possible paths linking source and destination ASes. In this work, we use parallel programming paradigms to exploit the massively parallel capabilities of analyzing the large network measurement datasets made available to the network research community by CAIDA. We study Internet routes traversing IXPs and measure potential TIVs created by these paths. Large scale analysis of the dataset is carried out by implementing an efficient parallel solution on the CPU and then the general purpose graphics processor unit (GPGPU) as well. Both multicore CPU and GPGPU implementations can be carried out with ease on desktop environments with readily available software. We find both parallel solutions yield high improvements in speedup (2-35x) in comparison to the serial methodologies thereby opening up the possibility of harnessing the power of parallel programming with readily available hardware. The large amount of data analyzed and studied helps draw various inferences for the networking research community in building future scalable Internet routing overlays with greater routing efficiencies.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In surface mines, a successful blast design provides a sufficient quantity of suitably fragmented and properly placed muck at the lowest practical cost. One of the significant variables in such blast designs is the 'burden'. This paper outlines an empirical formula to determine the burden for blast-hole diameters in the range of 25 to 304 mm based on the uniaxial compressive strength of the rock using ANFO as the main explosive charge. The formula has been tested at two working limestone mines in the Sultanate of Oman and it has given very positive results. Thus, besides its possible application for the new mines, the formula can be used to check the existing burden at any working mine.  相似文献

Groundwater and river water samples were collected from the study area to investigate the spatial distribution of nitrate (NO(3)(-)) in the central-west region of Bangladesh. The shallow and deep groundwater nitrate concentrations ranged from <0.10 to 75.12 and <0.10 to 40.78 mg/L, respectively. Major river water NO(3)(-) concentrations were ranged from 0.98 to 2.32 mg/L with an average of 1.8 mg/L. The average Cl(-)/NO(3)(-) ratio (4.9) of major river water has been considered as reference point to delineate denitrification processes. The alluvial fan, alluvial, deltaic and coastal deposits shallow groundwater having C1(-)/NO(3)(-) values less than that of the average river water value (4.9), suggested denitrification processes within the aquifers. On the other hand, denitrification processes are insignificant in the Pleistocene terraces area aquifers related to relatively higher concentrations of nitrate. Iron pyrite has been found as insignificant effect on denitrification.  相似文献

Estimation of electron trap energy (Et), with respect to bulk Si valence band, of oxidized porous silicon (PS) nanostructures is reported. Photoluminescence (PL) spectra of oxidized PS prepared with different formation parameters have been investigated and the room temperature PL characteristics have been successfully explained on the basis of oxide related trap assisted transitions. PL peak energy for the oxidized samples with low porosity exhibited a blue shift with increasing formation current density (J). For the high porosity samples double peaks appeared in the PL spectra. One of these peaks remained constant at ∼730 nm while the other was blue shifted with increase in J. Evolution of PS nanostructure was correlated to the formation parameters using a simple growth mechanism. PS nanostructure was modelled as an array of regular hexagonal pores and the average value of Et was estimated to be 1.67 eV.  相似文献

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have become increasingly appealing in recent years for the purpose of data acquisition, surveillance, event monitoring, etc. Optimal positioning of wireless sensor nodes is an important issue for small networks of relatively expensive sensing devices. For such networks, the placement problem requires that multiple objectives be met. These objectives are usually conflicting, e.g. achieving maximum coverage and maximum connectivity while minimizing the network energy cost. A flexible algorithm for sensor placement (FLEX) is presented that uses an evolutionary computational approach to solve this multiobjective sensor placement optimization problem when the number of sensor nodes is not fixed and the maximum number of nodes is not known a priori. FLEX starts with an initial population of simple WSNs and complexifies their topologies over generations. It keeps track of new genes through historical markings, which are used in later generations to assess two networks’ compatibility and also to align genes during crossover. It uses Pareto-dominance to approach Pareto-optimal layouts with respect to the objectives. Speciation is employed to aid the survival of gene innovations and facilitate networks to compete with similar networks. Elitism ensures that the best solutions are carried over to the next generation. The flexibility of the algorithm is illustrated by solving the device/node placement problem for different applications like facility surveillance, coverage with and without obstacles, preferential surveillance, and forming a clustering hierarchy.  相似文献

The flexural strength of slip-cast, sintered silicon nitride was evaluated as a function of temperature (20° to 1300°C in air), applied stress, and time. The flexural strength was independent of temperatures from 20° to 800°C, and the mode of crack propagation was primarily transgranular. Above 800°C, the flexural strength decreased because of viscous flow of the glassy phase present in the material resulting in subcritical crack growth (SCG). The mode of crack propagation during SCG was essentially intergranular. Flexural stress-rupture evaluation in the temperature range 800° to 1000°C was used to identify the stress levels for time-dependent and time-independent failures.  相似文献

Transport sector in India accounts for 20 % of total commercial energy demand of the country, of which a considerable amount is consumed in the form of liquid and gaseous fuel. A major part of these fuels are imported by the Government. Apart from the import expenditure, Government of India has subsidized these fuels to make it available at affordable prices. To check the financial burden and achieve environmental benefits, technical advancement in present system or alternative infrastructure is required. The present study examines the possible impacts on economy and environment by the implementation of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) along with the conventional road transport system in metropolitans with a case study of Kolkata. The major impact has been observed in controlling the vehicular emission with a decrease in CO2 level by 26.27 t per day, on replacement of only 2 % of the present public transport by suitable BEVs. Maintaining similar service for the passengers the electrical energy required by the alternative vehicles has been estimated to be 41,766 kWh per day. This energy has been proposed to be supplied by remodeled fuel stations equipped with solar photovoltaic systems, if charging strategy is based on renewable sources. In case of fuel economy, the infrastructure has shown the potential in reducing the consumption of diesel and autogas (LPG) by 11,654 and 3,256 liter per day, respectively.  相似文献
