Nylon‐6,6 was grafted onto the surface of short glass fibers through the sequential reaction of adipoyl chloride and hexamethylenediamine onto the fiber surface. Grafted and unsized short glass fibers (USGF) were used to prepare composites with nylon‐6,6 via melt blending. The glass fibers were found to act as nucleating agents for the nylon‐6,6 matrix. Grafted glass fiber composites have higher crystallization temperatures than USGF composites, indicating that grafted nylon‐6,6 molecules further increase crystallization rate of composites. Grafted glass fiber composites were also found to have higher tensile strength, tensile modulus, dynamic storage modulus, and melt viscosity than USGF composites. Property enhancement is attributed to improved wetting and interactions between the nylon‐6,6 matrix and the modified surface of glass fibers, which is supported by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis. The glass transition (tan δ) temperatures extracted from dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) are found to be unchanged for USGF, while in the case of grafted glass fiber, tan δ increases with increasing glass fiber contents. Moreover, the peak values (i.e., intensity) of tan δ are slightly lower for grafted glass fiber composites than for USGF composites, further indicating improved interactions between the grafted glass fibers and nylon‐6,6 matrix. The Halpin‐Tsai and modified Kelly‐Tyson models were used to predict the tensile modulus and tensile strength, respectively.  相似文献

The rheological properties of ultra‐high‐molecular‐weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) foams were studied using solid state rheometry. Frequency and temperature sweeps were performed in the linear viscoelastic regime. For comparison purposes, low‐density polyethylene (LDPE) and high density polyethylene (HDPE) foams were also studied. For the range of densities under consideration (200‐700 kg/m3), several models for prediction of elastic moduli were compared. It was found that none of the models succeeded in representing completely the mechanical behavior of foams. Further refinements must be made in order to take into account parameters relating the morphology of the foam to its mechanical properties.  相似文献

Many biopolymers and synthetic polymers composites were developed by different researchers for environmental protection and for cost reduction. One of these composites is polycaprolactone (PCL) and vital wheat gluten or wheat flour composites were prepared and compatibilized with polymeric diphenylmethane diisocyanate (pMDI) by blending and compression‐molding. PCL/pMDI blend exhibited glass transition (Tg) at ?67°C (0.20 J/g/°C) and vital gluten at 63°C (0.45 J/g/°C), whereas no Tg was recorded for wheat flour. Although Tg was unmistakable for either PCL or gluten, all composite exhibited one Tg, which is strong indication of interaction between PCL and the fillers. Several samples amongst the blended or compression‐molded composites exhibited no Tg signifying another confirmation of interaction. The ΔH of the endothermic (melting) and the exothermic (crystallization) for PCL was decreased as the percentage of gluten or flour increased, whereas the overall ΔH was higher for all composites compared to the theoretical value. The presence of pMDI appeared to strengthen the mechanical properties of the composites by mostly interacting with the filler (gluten or flour) and not as much with PCL. The FTIR analysis ruled out covalent interaction between PCL, pMDI, or the fillers but suggested the occurrence of physical interactions. Based on the data presented here and the data published earlier, the presence of pMDI did not change the nature of interaction between PCL and gluten, but it improved the mechanical properties of the composite. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of poly(arylene ether)s with biphenyl units and pendant sulfonated phenylsulfonyl groups was prepared via nucleophilic aromatic substitution reactions of varying ratios of 3,5‐difluoro‐3′‐sulfonated diphenylsulfone and 4,4′‐difluorodiphenylsulfone with 4,4′‐biphenol. As such, the sulfonic acid moieties reside in the meta position of a pendant, electron‐poor phenylsulfonyl group. Mechanically robust proton‐exchange membranes with ion‐exchange capacities (IEC) ranging from 0.91 to 2.05 meq g?1 were cast from dimethylacetamide. The thermal stability of the membranes was evaluated via thermogravimetric analysis and the 5% weight losses were found to be in excess of 330 °C in air. The glass transition temperatures were determined, via differential scanning calorimetry, to range from a low of 148 to a high of 209 °C at IEC values of 0.91 and 1.79 meq g?1, respectively. The copolymer membranes reached proton conductivities as high as 142 mS cm?1 under 100% relative humidity, with relatively low water uptake values (8–32 wt%). The issue of estimating states for classical integer‐order nonlinear systems has been widely addressed in the literature. Yet, generalization of existing results to the fractional‐order framework represents a fertile area of research. Note that, recently, a new and advantageous type of fractional derivative, the conformable derivative, was defined. So far, the general query of designing observers for conformable fractional‐order systems has not been investigated. In addition, it has been proved in the literature that some important tools for stability analysis of fractional‐order systems are valid using the conformable derivative concept, but invalid using other fractional derivative concepts. Motivated by the cited facts, this paper presents a first‐state estimation scheme for fractional‐order systems under the conformable derivative concept. A healthy operating case and a faulty operating case are treated. In this paper, a version of Barbalat's lemma, which is invalid using the well‐known Caputo derivative, is exploited to prove the convergence of the estimation errors. In order to validate the theoretical results, a numerical example is studied in the simulation section.  相似文献

The linear matrix inequality approach is used to guarantee the practical stability of the proposed feedback fractional order system. This paper introduces a novel camera attachment for measuring the illumination color spatially in the scene. The illumination color is then used to transform color appearance in the image into that under white light.The main idea is that the scene inter-reflection through a reference camera-attached surface Nose can, under some conditions, represent the illumination color directly. The illumination measurement principle relies on the satisfaction of the gray world assumption in a local scene area or the appearance of highlights, from dielectric surfaces. Scene inter-reflections are strongly blurred due to optical dispersion on the nose surface and defocusing of the nose surface image. Blurring smoothes the intense highlights and it thus becomes possible to measure the nose inter-reflection under conditions in which intensity variation in the main image would exceed the sensor dynamic range.We designed a nose surface to reflect a blurred scene version into a small image section, which is interpreted as a spatial illumination image. The nose image is then mapped to the main image for adjusting every pixel color. Experimental results showed that the nose inter-reflection color is a good measure of illumination color when the model assumptions are satisfied. The nose method performance, operating on real images, is presented and compared with the Retinex and the scene-inserted white patch methods.  相似文献

Targeting of G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) like somatostatin-14 (SST-14) could have a potential interest in delivery of anti-cancer agents to tumor cells. Attachment of SST to different nano-carriers e.g. polymeric nanoparticles is limited due to the difficulty of interaction between SST itself and those nano-carriers. Furthermore, the instability problems associated with the final formulation. Attaching of SST to gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) using the positive and negative charge of SST and citrate-AuNPs could be considered a new technique to get stable non-aggregated AuNPs coated with SST. Different analyses techniques have been performed to proof the principle of coating between AuNPs and SST. Furthermore, cellular uptake studies on HCC-1806, HELA and U-87 cell lines has been investigated to show the ability of AuNPs coated SST to enter the cells via SST receptors. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) indicated a successful coating of SST on the MUA-AuNPs surface. Furthermore, all the performed analysis including DLS, SDS-PAGE and UV-VIS absorption spectra indicated a successful coating of AuNPs with SST. Cellular uptake studies on HCC-1806, HELA and U-87 cell lines showed that the number of AuNPs-SST per cell is signiflcantly higher compared to citrate-AuNPs when quantified using inductively coupled plasma spectroscopy. Moreover, the binding of AuNPs-SST to cells can be suppressed by addition of antagonist, indicating that the binding of AuNPs-SST to cells is due to receptor-specific binding. In conclusion, AuNPs could be attached to SST via adsorption to get stable AuNPs coated SST. This new formulation has a potential to target SST receptors localized in many normal and tumor cells.  相似文献

After a brief introduction about fuel cell systems, and their modelling, this paper proposes a possible solution to emulate a proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEM-FC) system by using a DC–DC buck converter. The fuel cell system, including all its auxiliaries and related control systems, is emulated by a buck converter realized experimentally and controlled in the DSPACE environment. The realization of the buck converter allows the behaviour of any fuel cells to be easily emulated since only the modification of the control law of the switch is necessary. The proposed emulator can be applied easily to other fuel cell systems if the polarization curve has the same current rate and maximum power. In this way it is possible to utilize the converter and perform the necessary tests to optimize a fuel cell system by avoiding the waste of hydrogen and the purchase of cells as well as any cell damage. With regard to current other types of emulators, the one presented here has the following characteristics: (1) all the auxiliaries of the system have been considered, each including its own control system, as in a real FCS, (2) the converter is a classical buck converter with a free-wheeling diode and is designed to have a high bandwidth and to be practically always in conduction mode (discontinuous mode appears only at very low currents) (3) the voltage control is made by a space-state controller, able to fix properly the closed loop poles of the system, thus guaranteeing the desired bandwidth of the control system and (4) it can be used in laboratory as a stand-alone low-cost system for design and experimental purposes.  相似文献
