Event broker networks - scalable versions of the publish-subscribe paradigm - act as peer-to-peer overlays on broker nodes. Various frameworks support different overlay topologies and routing schemes for event dissemination, but attention is now turning to the nonfunctional attributes (such as quality of service) of such systems. Although many research efforts are starting to address the need for adaptation and QoS, no taxonomies or comprehensive surveys of adaptive middleware, which provide support for service guarantees, exist yet. To tackle this knowledge gap, the authors examine existing event-based middleware efforts, focusing on quality of service and adaptation.  相似文献

Experimentalists use Chauvenets’s criterion to check the quality of any measured data. Based on this criterion they rejected data having high degree of correlation. Multivariate techniques like principal component analysis used for analysis of these correlated data, does not provide any scope to minimize the effect of correlation. We propose a novel method using information theory and the technique of determinant inequalities developed by us to reduce the effect of correlation among these data without summarily rejecting them. We demonstrate the utility of our technique in transient measurements of kinetic parameters performed on the commercially advanced gas cooled reactor (CAGCR).  相似文献

One reason workflow systems have been criticized as being inflexible is that they lack support for delegation. This paper shows how delegation can be introduced in a workflow system by extending the role-based access control (RBAC) model. The current RBAC model is a security mechanism to implement access control in organizations by allowing users to be assigned to roles and privileges to be associated with the roles. Thus, users can perform tasks based on the privileges possessed by their own role or roles they inherit by virtue of their organizational position. However, there is no easy way to handle delegations within this model. This paper tries to treat the issues surrounding delegation in workflow systems in a comprehensive way. We show how delegations can be incorporated into the RBAC model in a simple and straightforward manner. The new extended model is called RBAC with delegation in a workflow context (DW-RBAC). It allows for delegations to be specified from a user to another user, and later revoked when the delegation is no longer required. The implications of such specifications and their subsequent revocations are examined. Several formal definitions for assertion, acceptance, execution and revocation are provided, and proofs are given for the important properties of our delegation framework.  相似文献

Designing autonomic fault responses is difficult, particularly in large-scale systems, as there is no single ‘perfect’ fault mitigation response to a given failure. The design of appropriate mitigation actions depend upon the goals and state of the application and environment. Strict time deadlines in real-time systems further exacerbate this problem. Any autonomic behavior in such systems must not only be functionally correct but should also conform to properties of liveness, safety and bounded time responsiveness. This paper details a real-time fault-tolerant framework, which uses a reflex and healing architecture to provide fault mitigation capabilities for large-scale real-time systems. At the heart of this architecture is a real-time reflex engine, which has a state-based failure management logic that can respond to both event- and time-based triggers. We also present a semantic domain for verifying properties of systems, which use this framework of real-time reflex engines. Lastly, a case study, which examines the details of such an approach, is presented.  相似文献

In order to understand the dependence of the ballistic deficit on the shape of rising portion of the voltage pulse at the input of a pulse shaping amplifier, we have estimated the ballistic deficits for the pulses from a two-electrode parallel plate ionization chamber as well as for the pulses from a gridded parallel plate ionization chamber. These estimations have been made using numerical integration method when the pulses are processed through the CR-RCn (n=1-6) shaping network as well as when the pulses are processed through the complex shaping network of the ORTEC Model 472 spectroscopic amplifier. Further, we have made simulations to see the effect of ballistic deficit on the pulse-height spectra under different conditions. We have also carried out measurements of the ballistic deficits for the pulses from a two-electrode parallel plate ionization chamber as well as for the pulses from a gridded parallel plate ionization chamber when these pulses are processed through the ORTEC 572 linear amplifier having a simple CR-RC shaping network. The reasonable matching of the simulated ballistic deficits with the experimental ballistic deficits for the CR-RC shaping network clearly establishes the validity of the simulation technique  相似文献

Electric arc furnace steel contains about 70‐120 ppm nitrogen. There is no suitable method for nitrogen removal from electric arc furnace steel up to the level desired for good quality bars and flat rolled products (30 ppm max). The existing process based on vacuum degassing can remove only up to 20% of nitrogen in steel. In the present study DRI fines have been injected into a steel bath which can drift out nitrogen in steel through production of fine CO bubbles in‐situ on reaction with residual FeO in DRI fines and C in bath. For high and medium carbon steel, nitrogen got reduced to 30 ppm and 60 ppm respectively where initial nitrogen was 150 – 200 ppm in steel. Nitrogen removal also depends upon bath depth and addition level of DRI.  相似文献

The isolation bearings are widely used in earthquake prone areas to protect the structure from seismic forces. The isolation bearing consists of an isolator to increase the natural period of the structure away from the high-energy periods of the earthquake, and a damper to absorb energy in order to reduce the seismic force. The most common isolation bearings used are lead–rubber bearings. They combine the function of isolation and energy dissipation in a single compact unit, giving structural support, horizontal flexibility, damping, and a centering force in a single unit. The relation between the horizontal force and horizontal displacement of the isolation bearings is nonlinear; to calculate the stiffness and the damping constant, which correspond to effective design displacement, the nonlinear behavior is expressed by bilinear behavior. This technical note presents new relations to calculate yield force, horizontal displacement, and damping.  相似文献

Abandoned coal ash ponds cover up vast stretches of precious land and cause environmental problems. Application of suitable in situ stabilization methods may bring about improvement in the geotechnical properties of the ash deposit as a whole, converting it to a usable site. In this study, a technique of in-place stabilization by hydrated lime columns was applied to large-scale laboratory models of ash ponds. Samples collected from different radial distances and different depths of the ash deposit were tested to study the improvements in the water content, dry density, particle size distribution, unconfined compressive strength, pH, hydraulic conductivity, and leachate characteristics over a period of one year. The in-place stabilization by lime column technique has been found effective in increasing the unconfined compressive strength and reducing hydraulic conductivity of pond ash deposits in addition to modifying other geotechnical parameters. The method has also proved to be useful in reducing the contamination potential of the ash leachates, thus mitigating the adverse environmental effects of ash deposits.  相似文献

A cost effective channel section for a specified flow rate, roughness coefficients, longitudinal slope, and various cost parameters can be determined using an optimization technique. However, the derived optimal channel section may not be feasible for construction because of in situ conditions. The local soil conditions may not support the optimal side slope of the channel and if constructed, the slope may fail. It is therefore necessary to also incorporate the criteria for side slope stability in designing an optimal open channel section. In this paper, a new methodology has been developed to design a stable and optimal channel section using hybrid optimization techniques. A genetic algorithm based optimization model is developed initially to determine the factor of safety of a channel slope for given soil parameters. This optimization model is then externally linked with a separate sequential quadratic programming based optimization model to evaluate the parameters of the stable and optimal channel section. Solution for various example problems incorporating different soil parameters are illustrated to demonstrate the applicability of the developed methodology.  相似文献
