Thermodynamic criteria as a feedstock selection tool for decentralised downdraft gasifiers coupled to spark-ignition engines are presented in this work. The methodology consists of an energy and exergy analysis of gasification process. The analysis is carried out by computational modelling of the gasification process as a function of biomass type (ultimate analysis, moisture content and heating value) and fuel/air ratio. Considering a system operating with different wood species, analysed parameters are gas heating value, energy and exergy efficiencies and engine fuel quality (EFQ). With a fixed fuel/air ratio (2.6) and moisture content (20%wt), it is highlighted that as the carbon-oxygen molar ratio of wood decreases from 2.0 to 1.78 as model input, reaction temperature increases by 9%, energy and exergy efficiencies diminish by 1.8% and 4.2%, respectively, while EFQ increases by 3.2%. A lupin seed glycoprotein, termed γ-conglutin, has previously been found to display insulin-mimetic activity in myocyte models and reduce plasma glucose concentration when orally administered to both rats and humans. To envisage the possible metabolic fate of this bioactive protein, we used in vitro cell and ex vivo tissue models to monitor its transit through the intestinal barrier. Caco-2 cell monolayers and rat intestinal everted sacs were treated with purified γ-conglutin and the protein was immuno-assayed by chemi-luminescence-enhanced Western blotting. The in vitro approach showed that the intact protein can transit from the apical to the basolateral side of the cell monolayers. The unmodified lupin protein was also detected inside the intestinal everted sacs. Proper controls of cell monolayer and sac integrity ruled out the possibility of protein passive leakage. 相似文献

Reversible structural transformations between perovskite (PV) ABO3?δ and brownmillerite (BM) ABO2.5 (A = Ca2+, Sr2+; B = Fe4+/3, Co4+/3+) oxides can be induced by topotactic oxygen exchange at moderate temperatures under reducing/oxidizing conditions. The combination of a large oxide‐ion conductivity and a small free energy difference between the 4+/3+ oxidation states of many 3d transition metal ions enables these topotactic transformations. Herein, it is demonstrated that the electric field produced by a voltage‐biased atomic force microscopy tip can induce such transformation between PV SrFeO3?δ and BM SrFeO2.5 at room temperature and with sub‐micrometer spatial resolution. Interestingly, the structural transformation is kept after the electric field is removed, allowing a nonvolatile control of the local chemical, electrical, optical, and magnetic properties. Thus, the results presented in this paper open the door for the fabrication of stable ionic‐based devices through the electric field patterning of different crystallographic phases. 相似文献
