In this investigation, full-field velocity profiles of jet flows impinging into a rod bundle were measured using Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) technique in a facility with Matched-Index of Refraction. The test section consisted of a 1 m long rectangular channel with a cross-sectional area of 76.2 × 76.2 mm2. Water was pumped through either single or double jets located on the top wall of the channel. The Reynolds numbers of the inlet jets were varied from 4470 to 13,400. Inside the channel adjacent to the inlet jets, a rod bundle was configured with 29 staggered tubes of 10.67 mm outside diameter (O.D.). The time-resolved velocity fields were obtained for regions within the rod bundle from which the vorticity fields and the turbulent characteristics of those regions were calculated. The results are useful for developing new models to help predict the flow patterns in the lower plenum of Gas Cooled Reactors.  相似文献

Abstract

The Poisson’s ratio is a fundamental and inherent property of the materials in their reaction to loading. Determining the correct value of the Poisson’s ratio leads to more accurate predictions of the mechanical behavior of the material, especially in employing mechanical or numerical finite element modeling methods. In this study, seven different types of medium and coarse yarn were digitally filmed in seven sections from three various angles while tensile strength testing. Then, longitudinal and transverse strains and consequently, momentary deformation index and Poisson’s ratio of the yarns were calculated. Significance level of the mean Poisson’ ratio was also determined at different angles and sections using statistical comparison test. The results showed that the transverse strain has a convergent state at the end of the test and the start of the yarn breaking occurs at the convergence point. Additionally, in upper sections of yarn near to the movable jaw of the strength tester, the amount of the longitudinal strain increases which leads to reduce in momentary deformation index and Poisson’s ratio of the yarn. Moreover, a sectional mode to measure the Poisson's ratio was presented.  相似文献

This paper deals with the reaction of dense Metastable Intermolecular Composite (MIC) materials, which have a higher density than conventional energetic materials. The reaction of a multilayer thin film of aluminum and copper oxide has been studied by varying the substrate material and thicknesses. The in-plane speed of propagation of the reaction was experimentally determined using a time of- flight technique. The experiment shows that the reaction is completely quenched for a silicon substrate having an intervening silica layer of less than 200 nm. The speed of reaction seems to be constant at 40 m/s for silica layers with a thickness greater than 1 μm. Different substrate materials such as glass and photoresist were also used.  相似文献

Nano‐alumina powders containing yttrium oxide were synthesized via the sol‐gel method using aluminum chloride hexahydrate as catalyst precursor. Fourier transform infrared analysis showed the presence of Al‐O and Al‐O‐Al bands in the powder structure and X‐ray diffraction spectra proved that the alumina was in the amorphous phase. The amorphous nano‐alumina powders were shown to be mesoporous with a high surface area, and both spherical and slit‐shaped particles were found in the calcined powder. A high percentage of conversion of oil to biodiesel was obtained in the transesterification reaction and the synthesized nano‐alumina powders could be easily regenerated for further use. The amorphous nano‐alumina powder can thus be recommended for use as active catalyst in the transesterification reaction for biodiesel production on the industrial scale.  相似文献

In order systematically investigate the effect of ligand with a large conjugated π-system on the structure and optical properties of tin complex, anthracene-9-carboxylic acid (L1) is selected as a primary ligand, and quinoline-2-carboxylic acid (L2) used as second ligand to incorporate with anthracene-9-carboxylic acid to construct a new tin(IV)-carboxylate coordination complex under thermal gradient condition. Prepared complex was fully characterized based on its 1H and 13C NMR, IR and UV spectra and elemental analysis. The molecular structure of complex was determined by single-crystal X-ray analysis. The nanocrystalline complexes of the prepared complex were successfully obtained at 30, 50 and 60 °C by a facile sonochemical route. The new nanocrystalline complexes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The photoluminescence properties of the nanocrystalline complexes and crystalline bulk complex in the solid-state indicated that the size of the complex particles has a remarkable effect on the optical properties of it. Absorption and emission peaks of the nanocrystalline complexes blue shifted significantly in comparison with those of in the single-crystal form. Application of the prepared complex in fabrication of an organic light-emitting diode has been demonstrated. The current–voltage (I–V) characteristics and the electroluminescence (EL) properties of the complex have been investigated. The EL of the compound exhibits green emission at 552 nm.  相似文献

An experimental hydrodynamic investigation has been carried out for a novel internally circulating chemical looping (ICCL) reactor concept proposed to reduce the technical complexities encountered in conventional chemical looping combustion (CLC) and reforming (CLR) technologies. The concept consists of a single reactor with internal physical separations dividing it into two sections, i.e., the fuel and air sections. The trade‐off for this reduction in process complexity is increased gas leakage between the two reactor sections, so a pseudo‐2D cold‐flow experimental unit was designed. The ICCL concept remains highly efficient in terms of CO2 separation while ensuring significant process simplifications. The solids circulation rate also proved easy to control by adjusting the fluidization velocity ratio and the bed loading. In the light of the excellent hydrodynamic performance, the ICCL concept appears to be well‐suited for further development as a CLC/CLR reactor model.  相似文献

A novel bilayer nanofibrous wound dressing, with enhanced mechanical properties is successfully fabricated. This membrane, consisted of polyvinylidenefluoride (PVDF) nanofibers for providing tensile strength and polyhydroxybutyrate/chitosan (PHB/CTS) nanofibers loaded with gentamicin with ability of controlled drug delivery, is a great choice for post-surgical ulcers. Mechanical properties showed dramatically improvement of tensile strength by addition of PVDF layer. Gentamycin release represented both an immediate and a sustained release of about 24?h and 1 week, respectively and release increment with increase of CTS ratio. Results also revealed that drug release in structures follow first order kinetic and Fickian release mechanism.  相似文献
