A systematic and extensive approach incorporating in vitro and in vivo experimentation to treat chronic osteomyelitis in animal model were made using antibiotic loaded special bioactive glass porous scaffolds. After thorough characterization for porosity, distribution, surface charge, a novel drug composite were infiltrated by using vacuum infiltration and freeze-drying method which was subsequently analyzed by SEM-EDAX and studied for in vitro drug elution in PBS and SBF. Osteomyelitis in rabbit was induced by inoculation of Staphylococcus aureus and optimum drug-scaffold were checked for its efficacy over control and parenteral treated animals in terms of histopathology, radiology, in vivo drug concentration in bone and serum and implant-bone interface by SEM. It was optimized that 60P samples with 60-65% porosity (bimodal distribution of macro- to micropore) with average pore size ~60 μm and higher interconnectivity, moderately high antibiotic adsorption efficiency (~49%) was ideal. Results after 42 days showed antibiotic released higher than MIC against S. aureus compared to parenteral treatment (2 injections a day for 6 weeks). In vivo drug pharmacokinetics and SEM on bone-defect interface proved superiority of CFS loaded porous bioactive glass implants over parenteral group based on infection eradication and new bone formation. 相似文献

Trivalent/bivalent metal ions doped TiO2 thin films (MxTi1−xO2, M = Cr3+, Fe3+, Ni2+, Co2+, Mn2+ and x = 0.01, 0.05, 0.1, 0.15, 0.2) were deposited on Indium–tin oxide (ITO) coated glass substrates by spin coating technique. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) showed Ti4+ oxidation state of the Ti2p band in the doped p-TiO2. The homogenous MxTi1−xO2 was used to support n-ZnO thin films with thickness ∼40–80 nm and vertically aligned n-ZnO nanorods (NR) with length ∼300 nm and 1.5 μm. Current (I)–voltage (V) characteristics for the Ag/n-ZnO/MxTi1−xO2/ITO/glass assembly showed rectifying behavior with small turn-on voltages (V0) < 1 V. The ideality factor (η) and the resistances in both forward and reverse bias were calculated. The temperature dependence performance of these bipolar devices was performed and variation of the parameters with temperature was studied. 相似文献

Some batches of detonator housings made up of Chromium plated Zn–Al alloy were found in an extensively cracked condition after few months of storage at room temperature. An analysis of the failure showed that the cracks were due to intergranular corrosion facilitated by segregation of lead at the grain boundaries. Improper chromium plating further aggravated the corrosion problem. This failure case emphasises the need for strict control of chemical composition for components made from Zn–Al alloy and the process of Cr plating of the components. 相似文献

Mullite was developed by reaction sintering of sillimanite beach sand and calcined alumina. Two varieties of sillimanite beach
sand viz. S and Z having different compositions were selected. Synthesis and properties of mullite were very much dependent
on the sillimanite beach sand composition. Presence of higher amount of impurities in the Z-variety of sillimanite sand favours
the densification by liquid phase formation. Presence of zircon in Z-variety increases the hardness and fracture toughness.
Alumina addition improves the mechanical/thermomechanical properties of the samples. Mullite retains the usual orthorhombic

In this work, a built-in self-testing (BIST) method is proposed to detect nontraditional faults of embedded memory arrays for a system-on-chip (SoC) design. The nontraditional faults include single-cell read-sensitive faults and read coupling faults. The BIST method can efficiently deal with embedded memory arrays spatially distributed on the entire SoC chip. The concept of redundant read-write operations is applied to detect all embedded memory arrays with different sizes simultaneously. The redundant operations do not affect the fault coverage of all nontraditional faults discussed in this paper. The method has the advantages of low hardware overhead, short test time, and high fault coverage for nontraditional memory defects. 相似文献

A novel gold nanoparticle-tripeptide (GNP-tripeptide) conjugate was prepared by peptide in-situ redox technique at ambient temperatureusing a newly designed tripeptide. This new tripeptide was nso designed that it has a C-terminus tyrosine residue, which reduced Au+3 to Au, and the terminally located free amino group was bound to the gold nanoparticle (GNP) surface resulting in highly stable Au colloids. The average diameter of the tripeptide-stabilized GNP is 8.7 +/- 2.3 nm. Tripeptide bound gold nanoparticles formed three-dimensional assemblies in the presence of an excess of similar or disimilar tripeptides. The aggregation of GNPs results in a red shift in the surface plasmon resonance from lambda max = 527 to 556 nm. The effect of the solvent, concentration, and nature of the tripeptides on the assembly process were investigated by TEM and UV-visible spectroscopy. 相似文献

Digital watermarking is becoming more and more important for protecting the authenticity of multimedia objects as they become easier to copy, exchange, and modify. Several watermarking schemes have been proposed in recent years, but most of them deal with still images, only some being extended over to the temporal domain for video watermarking. But again most of those approaches are applied to uncompressed video processing domain. In the subject paper, a new compressed video watermarking procedure is proposed. The developed method embeds several binary images, decomposed from a single watermark image, into different scenes of a video sequence. The spatial spread spectrum watermark is embedded directly into the compressed bit streams by modifying discrete cosine transform (DCT) coefficients. In order to embed the watermark with minimum loss in image fidelity, a visual mask based on local image characteristics is incorporated. Extensive experimental simulations demonstrate that the proposed watermarking scheme is substantially more effective and robust against spatial attacks such as scaling, rotation, frame averaging, and filtering, besides temporal attacks like frame dropping and temporal shifting. 相似文献

The aim of the present paper is to study the effect of gravity on visco-elastic surface waves in solids. The wave velocity
equations are deduced from Biot’s theory of initial stress on the assumption that gravity creates a type of initial stress
— hydrostatic in nature. Resulting equations are used to investigate surface waves of the Rayleigh, Love and Stoneley types.

An analytical theory is proposed to study the dynamic nucleation of crystals from melt at very high cooling rates (10−6 to 10−12 °K/sec). The mathematical framework is found to be isomorphic with the function space theory, wave and matrix mechanics,
which enables application of various approximate methods of the latter disciplines. In principle, the mathematical apparatus
and concepts of function space and wave mechanics can be utilized to study the time varying nucleation process. The Arrhenius
law has been used to extrapolate the self-diffusion coefficient as a function of temperature above the melting point than
those below. Since, applicability of Arrhenius equation at very high degrees of supercooling is not known and has to be substituted
with appropriate constitutive relationship based on free volume theory of transport, the conclusion derived from the present
