As an important constituent of hydrological cycle, estimation of Reference Evapotranspiration (ETo) is essential for planning of projects related to water resources. This article compares the results obtained from the available pan evaporation based equations to estimate ETo from pan evaporation (Ep) and proposes a new simplified methodology for estimation of ETo, which needs only the data of relative humidity (H). The resulting model is based upon the collected meteorological data of a selected study area i.e. Nagpur District in Maharashtra State, which lies in western plateau and hills region of India. In the proposed methodology, Ep rates are adjusted to the values expected for 50 % relative humidity. Then, the relationship between ETo and the adjusted Ep is established. The validation of the proposed new model has been carried out by comparing its results with the results obtained by the pan evaporation method, for the study area as well as for the data set of another area. This new model is found to be reasonably accurate for estimation of reference evapotranspiration for the study area and as such, is expected to be applicable to the river basins located in the regions having climatic conditions similar to that of the study area. Upgraded coal-derived liquids obtained from catalytic hydroprocessing of a 30–70(wt%) blend of SRC-1 with SRC-II have been studied by infrared and proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and gel permeation chromatography techniques. Compared with the feed blend, the upgraded liquids exhibit a lower C/H ratio and decreased aromatic, heteroatom and pentane-insoluble contents, along with decreased specific gravity and viscosity. The amount of hydrogen-bonded structure in the upgraded liquid decreases with increases in residence time and processing temperature. The pseudo-first-order disappearance of phenolic OH and total nitrogen during processing indicates a relative reactivity of 2:1 of hydroxyl oxygen removal to total nitrogen removal in the upgrading process. Conversion of pentaneinsolubles to soluble oil also follows a pseudo-first-order reaction; under mild processing conditions, the heteroatom functionalities play a dominant role in the ease and extent of this conversion. Higher temperatures increase thermal cracking and hydrocracking of the ring structure resulting in more conversion of asphaltene to oil. The linear dependence of the logarithm of viscosity on the content of heteroatoms and toluene-insolubles (TI) indicates the importance of molecular interactions involving polar functional groups in defining the viscosity of coal-derived liquid. 相似文献

High-resolution transmission electron microscopy analyses are carried out to understand the microstructure of the ultra-thin oxide-film grown on a (native) amorphous Al2O3-coated Al-0.8 at.% Mg alloy substrate at T = 600 K for t = 2 h and at pO2 of 1 × 10?2 Pa. This oxide-film is found to be non-uniformly thick with thicknesses varying from 1.50 to 4.60 nm. Occasionally, this oxide is found to diffuse into the Al–Mg alloy substrate, forming oxide thicknesses up to 10.5 nm. Overall, this oxide-film is found to consist of a mixed amorphous, (poly) crystalline and an intermediate amorphous-to-crystalline transition regions, with crystalline regions consisting mostly of MgO and the diffused oxide regions into the Al–Mg alloy substrate coated with γ-Al2O3. These observations are then compared with the experimental results obtained using angle-resolved X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy analysis and thermodynamic predictions for the growth of an ultra-thin oxide-film due to dry, thermal oxidation of Al–Mg alloy substrates. 相似文献

Microstructures and tensile properties of Direct Metal Laser-Sintered (DMLS) CoCrMo were investigated in the as-printed condition and after heat treatment. A dense (>?99.5 pct) as-printed DMLS CoCrMo was obtained in the as-printed condition eliminating the need for any hot isostatic pressing. Solution heat treatment carried out at 1150 °C revealed complete recrystallization resulting in an equiaxed grain structure with an average grain size of 40 μm. The microstructure after solution heat treatment and aging at 980 °C revealed inter and intragranular precipitations, enriched in Mo and Si. Solution treatment resulted in the decrease of the room-temperature tensile strength from 1378 MPa (as-printed) to 1114 MPa, which was attributed to the increasing grain size from 0.6 to 1 μm (column width) to ~?40 μm (grain size). The decrease in yield strength was accompanied by the increasing ductility from 5.7 to 15 pct. An enhancement in ductility to nearly 25 pct was observed in tensile tests at 925 °C. This paper comprises a detailed microstructural evaluation of DMLS CoCrMo alloy to determine its suitability for high-temperature structural applications involving repair and refurbishment of components, including an evaluation of microstructural and tensile properties after welding the DMLS CoCrMo to cast FSX414. 相似文献

The focus of this paper is to offer a practical multi-radio mesh network architecture that can realize the benefits of multiple radios. Our architecture provides solutions to challenges in three key areas. The first is the construction of a split wireless router that enables modular wireless mesh routers to be constructed from commodity hardware. The second is the design of a centralized channel assignment algorithm that considers the inter-dependence between channel assignment and routing in order to create high-throughput channel-diversified routes. Third is the design and implementation of several communication protocols that are necessary to make our architecture operational. Our system is comprehensively evaluated on a 20-node multi-radio wireless testbed. Results demonstrate that our architecture makes feasible the deployment of large-scale high-capacity multi-radio mesh networks built entirely with commodity hardware. Heat transfer from a moving surface with uniform wall temperature due to impingement of series of slot jets has been investigated numerically. In the present paper, transition–shear stress transport model has been used for numerical simulations, which can predict the heat transfer in laminar as well as turbulent flows. This model is adopted here to study the transport phenomenon and predict the transition from laminar to turbulent flow seamlessly under different surface velocities. The present model with stationary surface is validated with the correlation given by Martin for series of slot jets. It has also shown good agreement with existing data for both laminar and turbulent slot jets, and is further studied to understand the heat transfer under wide range of flow conditions and the effect of surface velocity on flow regime. The range of Reynolds number is from 100 to 5,000, whereas surface velocity varied up to six times the jet velocity at the nozzle exit. It has been observed that at high surface velocities the heat transfer from the moving wall is more than stationary case. The transition from laminar to turbulent regime is found to be starting at a Reynolds number of 400 and turns completely turbulent at a Reynolds number of 3,000. Q-criterion is used to confirm the transition zone by observing the breaking of vortices at higher Reynolds number. 相似文献

Through a pin-on-disc type wear setup, the dry sliding wear behavior of SiC-reinforced aluminum composites produced using the molten metal mixing method was investigated in this paper. Dry sliding wear tests were carried on SiC-reinforced metal matrix composites (MMCs) and its matrix alloy sliding against a steel counter face. Different contact stresses, reinforcement percentages, sliding distances, and sliding velocities were selected as the control variables, and the responses were selected as the wear volume loss (WVL) and coefficient of friction (COF) to evaluate the dry sliding performance. An L25 orthogonal array was employed for the experimental design. Initially, the optimization of the dry sliding performance of the SiC-reinforced MMCs was performed using grey relational analysis (GRA). Based on the GRA, the optimum level parameters for overall grey relational grade in terms of WVL and COF were identified. Analysis of variance was performed to determine the effect of individual factors on the overall grey relational grade. The results indicated that the sliding velocity was the most effective factor among the control parameters on dry sliding wear, followed by the reinforcement percentage, sliding distance, and contact stress. Finally, the wear surface morphology and wear mechanism of the composites were investigated through scanning electron microscopy. 相似文献

One strategy for alleviating excess latency (delay) in the Internet is the caching of web content at multiple locations. This
reduces the number of hops necessary to reach the desired content. This strategy is used for web content such as html pages,
images, streaming video, and Internet radio. The network of servers which store this content, and the collections of objects
stored on each server, is called a content distribution network (CDN). In order to optimally design a CDN, given a network
topology with available server storage capacity at various points in the network, one must decide which object collections
to place on each server in order to achieve performance or cost objectives. The placements must be within the storage limits
of the servers and must reflect the request patterns for each collection of objects to be cached. Researchers have suggested
formulations for the CDN problem which address performance by minimizing latency (the average number of hops is a commonly
accepted measure of latency) from client to content, or formulations that focus on minimizing cost of storage and/or bandwidth.
In this research, we develop a model which allows for the simultaneous treatment of performance and cost, present examples
to illustrate the application of the model and perform a detailed designed experiment to gain insights into cost/hops tradeoff
