We used culture- and molecular-biology-based methods to investigate the diversity of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) in the ethnic chevon (goat) meat products chartayshya, jamma and arjia of the Western Himalayas. In six chartayshya, six jamma and four arjia samples, LAB were the predominant microbial component involved in the fermentation of these samples, and the total LAB population in arjia (7.8 ± 0.1 log cfu g−1; mean ± SD) was significantly higher (P < 0.05) than in chartayshya (6.9 ± 0.1 log cfu g−1) and jamma (7.5 ± 0.1 log cfu g−1). We identified 53 LAB samples by 16S rRNA and phenylalanyl-tRNA synthase (pheS) genes sequencing. The LAB isolates were identified as Enterococcus durans, Enterococcus faecalis, Enterococcus faecium, Enterococcus hirae, Leuconostoc citreum, Leuconostoc mesenteroides, Pediococcus pentosaceus, and Weissella cibaria. These results revealed that there is a high level of diversity of LAB in the Himalayan ethnic preserved meat products.  相似文献

The transmembrane protein α-hemolysin pore has been used to develop ultrasensitive biosensors, study biomolecular folding and unfolding, investigate covalent and noncovalent bonding interactions, and probe enzyme kinetics. Here, we report that, by addition of ionic liquid tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium chloride solution to the α-hemolysin pore, the α-hemolysin channel can be controlled open or closed by adjusting the pH of the solution. This approach can be employed to develop a novel molecular switch to regulate molecular transport and should find potential applications as a "smart" drug delivery method.  相似文献

The preparation and properties of poly(4‐methyl‐1‐pentene) (PMP)/clay nanocomposites are reported. Melt intercalation of PMP is carried out with organoclays of different cation/charge exchange capacities and modifiers to facilitate intercalation of the polymer into the silicate layers. The effect of modifiers on the structure and properties of PMP/clay nanocomposites is explored. XRD patterns confirm the intercalation of polymer in the layered silicates as evidenced by the increase in the inter‐layer spacing which is dependent on the type of modifier used. Dynamic mechanical analysis shows increments in the storage modulus over the temperature range studied for all of the three clays, but the extent depends on the type of clay modifier used. A transdermal drug delivery system of diclofenac was developed for prolonged and controlled release of diclofenac. The designed system essentially based on polymeric pseudolatex dispersion. The formulation variables that could effect the formulation stability vis a vis drug release were studied. To achieve the desired release rate, different combination of hydrophilic and hydrophobic polymer were used for the preparation of pseudolatex system. The designed system exhibited linear relationship between drug release (Q) V/s square root of time (t0.5). The product having skin permeability rate 0.188 mg/h/cm was selected for the in vitro anti-inflammatory activity and in vivo evaluation. The system could maintained a constant and effective plasma level for 24 hours. The effective drug plasma concentration was monitored periodically. The study revealed that designed pseudolatex transdermal drug delivery system of diclofenac could be used successfully with improved performance and hold promise for further studies.  相似文献

The pKa values of lauric acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid and stearic acid in methanol-water and ethanol-water mixtures of different compositions at 303 K and ionic strength, I=0.1M(KNO3) have been determined. The pKa values of the fatty acids have been found to increase with the alcohol content of the solvent. It has also been found that, in general, the pKa values in the ethanolic solvent are greater than those in the methanolic solvent. In a given solvent mixture the observed pKa value decreases in the order of stearic acid > palmitic acid > myristic acid > lauric acid. Departure from the predicted linearity of the plots of pKa against the inverse of the dielectric constant, 1/D indicates that the electrostatic effects taken into account by the Born theory are not adequate enough to represent the total medium effects on pKa.  相似文献

Methods for measuring the surface areas of powdered solids are considered and the specific surface areas of ferric oxide and alumina powders using adsorption of stearic acid from benzene solution are determined. It has been found that the value of the specific surface area of both powders agree with the BET nitrogen gas adsorption area if it is considered that the area occupied per molecule of stearic acid on the powder surface is of the order of 60–70Å2. This finding shows that orientation of the stearic acid molecule on the solid/liquid interface takes place so that stearic acid molecules lie neither completely perpendicular nor completely parallel to the surface. Possible orientations of stearic acid chains on the surface are envisaged.  相似文献

The hexa-coordinated chelate complexes of the type [Ru(CO)2Cl2(P-P)](1a,b) [where P-P = 9,9-dimethyl-4,5-bis(diphenylphosphino)xanthene(a) and [bis(2-diphenylphosphinophenyl)ether(b)] have been synthesized by reacting the polymeric precursor [Ru(CO)2Cl2]n with the ligands in 1:1 molar ratio. The complexes 1a,b are characterized by elemental analyses, Mass, IR and NMR spectroscopy together with the single crystal X-ray structure determination of 1a. The compound 1a crystallizes in a monoclinic system with space group C2/c showing a slightly distorted octahedral geometry around the Ru centre. The complexes 1a and 1b are thermally stable up to 300 °C and exhibit high catalytic activity in transfer hydrogenation of aldehyde and ketones to corresponding alcohols. The complexes 1a and 1b show much higher catalytic activity for the hydrogenation of aldehyde than ketones. In general, the catalytic efficiency of 1b is higher compared with 1a.  相似文献

A comparative study on the photocatalytic activities of four different catalysts, P-25 TiO2, TiO2 nanofibers, tin-doped TiO2 nanofibers under UV light irradiation at 350 nm, and coumarin (C-343) coated TiO2 nanofibers at 436 nm light emitting diodes (LED) is reported. Catalysts performance has been compared based on their reflectance spectrum and activity. A common water contaminant 4-chlorophenol was used as a substrate to compare the activity of the different catalysts under both direct and dye sensitized conditions. Results indicated that amongst the four different catalysts the activity of P-25 was the highest. However the activity of C-343 coated TiO2 nanofibers in the LED (436 nm) based reactor was competitive. Identification of reaction intermediates implied that the reaction pathways under UV (band gap) and visible (dye sensitized) irradiation were different. Nonetheless, ring opening took place in all reactions with both maleic and dihydroxymaleic have been identified as intermediates. The study indicates that ordered arrays of TiO2 irradiated by panels of arrays of low cost high intensity LEDs might be used for the design of reactors. The near monochromaticity, long life, and operation under direct currents are advantages of using LEDs.  相似文献

Higher Order Coherences (normalized Higher Order Spectra) are the tools to identify the relationship between the different harmonic components in a signal. The vibration of a structure having a crack also generates several harmonics of the exciting frequency due to its breathing (closing and opening) behaviour which is a non-linear phenomenon. Presently two types of the HOC — namely, the Bicoherence and the Tricoherence, are used for the fatigue crack detection. This paper presents the observations made on the HOC on the numerically simulated experiment of a cantilever beam with and without cracks. The robustness of the HOC in the crack detection even for the noisy response vibration data has also been brought out.  相似文献
