Oxidation of cyclohexane has been carried out using molecular oxygen over cobalt molybdenum oxide (CoMoO4) catalysts in solvent free conditions. The catalysts were prepared using citrate method with three different molar ratios of Co:Mo, 1:1, 1:2, and 2:1 along with individual oxides for comparative studies. While all the catalysts showed significant activity and selectivity, CoMoO4 with 1:1 ratio showed the best performance compared to the others with a conversion of 7.38%, with selectivity to cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone (KA oil) of 94.3%, in 1 h. The performance of the catalyst, has been studied as a function of oxygen pressure, reaction temperature, and catalyst loading. It was observed that the catalyst deactivates during the course of the reaction. The reasons for deactivation and methods for restoring the activity have been studied. The vinyl acetate (VA) content in ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) can significantly affect its performance as an encapsulant in photovoltaic modules under field conditions. EVA films of varying VA content (18, 24, 33, and 40%) have been prepared using twin screw extruder with the necessary additives and subsequently cured at 150 °C. All the EVA films have been subjected to UV radiation at a wavelength of 340 nm for 1000 and 2000 h to simulate accelerated field aging. The effects of accelerated aging on the gel content, mechanical properties, transmittance, Fourier transform infra-red (FTIR) spectra, thermal stability, degree of crystallinity, and yellowness have been studied. The observations made in this study of UV aging up to 2000 h suggests that the optimum range of VA content in EVA should be between 18 and 33% by weight. VA content beyond 40% degrades almost all properties needed for an encapsulate material after aging of only 2000 h. VA content of around 18% is the most stable under UV aging conditions but has a slightly lower value of transmittance for the unaged sample although the difference in transmittance between different specimens decreases with UV aging. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Human development is inherently connected with availability of water and energy. Energy production requires water, whereas water treatment needs energy. On the other hand, microbial fuel cell has capability to produce energy and water simultaneously from waste water or organic matter. In this paper, first principle-based model of variable volume microbial fuel cell is simulated. Hydraulic retention time is selected as the manipulated variable using the study of steady state and dynamic responses. Classical PI and model predictive control strategies are developed for controlling the produced power from the cell, and its performance is tested for servo problem. Settling time for positive and negative set points is found to be 126 and 889 h in case of classical PI and 120 and 750 h in case of linear MPC, respectively along with large increase (three times order of magnitude) in working volume for negative set point. These control challenges are overcome by using split range controller with variable and constant volume microbial fuel cells. The settling time for negative set point is found to be 49 and 21 h for classical PI and linear MPC schemes, respectively, which is significantly lower than using only variable volume microbial fuel cell. Also, there is no increase in the working volume of the constant volume microbial fuel cell. Hence, operating range of the microbial fuel cell is enhanced using split range controller.  相似文献

Blends of high‐density polyethylene (HDPE) with small amounts of ultra‐high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) were prepared by melt mixing in a twin‐screw microcompounder. Two types of UHMWPE differing in their states of chain entanglement were used. The blend composition, time of mixing, and rotation speed of the screws were varied. Rheological properties of the blends were studied in oscillatory shear and uniaxial elongational tests. Reduction in phase angle measured in dynamic shear rheology and increase in extensional strain hardening were found to be useful indicators for quantifying the extent of mixing of the two components. Although the disentangled UHMWPE showed reasonable mixing with HDPE during typical residence times of melt compounding operations, the entangled UHMWPE remained essentially undissolved. Despite decades of skin research, regulation of proliferation and homeostasis in human epidermis is still insufficiently understood. To address the role of mitoses in tissue regulation, we utilized human long-term skin equivalents and systematically assessed mitoses during early epidermal development and long-term epidermal regeneration. We now demonstrate four different orientations: (1) horizontal, i.e., parallel to the basement membrane (BM) and suggestive of symmetric divisions; (2) oblique with an angle of 45°–70°; or (3) perpendicular, suggestive of asymmetric division. In addition, we demonstrate a fourth substantial fraction of suprabasal mitoses, many of which are committed to differentiation (Keratin K10-positive). As verified also for normal human skin, this spatial mitotic organization is part of the regulatory program of human epidermal tissue homeostasis. As a potential marker for asymmetric division, we investigated for Numb and found that it was evenly spread in almost all undifferentiated keratinocytes, but indeed asymmetrically distributed in some mitoses and particularly frequent under differentiation-repressing low-calcium conditions. Numb deletion (stable knockdown by CRISPR/Cas9), however, did not affect proliferation, neither in a three-day follow up study by life cell imaging nor during a 14-day culture period, suggesting that Numb is not essential for the general control of keratinocyte division.  相似文献

This investigation deals with laser remelting of plasma sprayed alumina and chromia coatings. The time-temperature history of the laser remelted zone was recorded using an infrared pyrometer during the remelting operation. Cooling rates, under varying scanning speed, were determined from the time temperature curve. Surface morphology, microstructure, and phases of the laser treated and as-sprayed coatings were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction, respectively. X-ray diffraction was also employed to measure the surface residual stress of the coatings. Inherent features of plasma sprayed coatings like porosity and inter-lamellar boundary were obliterated upon laser remelting. A columnar grain growth perpendicular to the laser scanning direction was observed. The range of roughness of the as-sprayed coatings reduced from 6 to 8?µm to 1–2?µm in the remelted layers. For both coatings, more than 90% reduction in porosity was found upon laser remelting. Surface residual stress of the as-sprayed alumina and chromia coatings was found to be tensile and compressive, respectively. Within the limits of the testing condition the tensile residual stress of the remelted layers increased by up to around 500% in the alumina coatings. In the chromia coating a decrease of compressive stress by up to around 80% was recorded. In the remelted layer the tensile nature of the stress showed a tendency to increase with an increase in the cooling rate. However, the state of stress of the as-sprayed layer, i.e., tensile or compressive, was retained in the remelted layer. The residual stress was found to decrease in the remelted layer with an increase in the degree of overlap of the remelted tracks.  相似文献

The inhibition effect of all the three Mannich bases against the corrosion of mild steel in 1 M HCl solution was studied by weight loss, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic polarization, and atomic force microscopy techniques. Data obtained from EIS studies were analyzed to model the corrosion inhibition process through appropriate equivalent circuit models. The adsorption of Mannich bases obeyed Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Both thermodynamic and activation parameters were calculated and discussed. Polarization curves indicate that they are mixed type of inhibitors. All the Mannich bases were adsorbed physically at lower concentration, whereas chemisorption was favored at higher concentration. The results obtained from weight loss, EIS, and Potentiodynamic polarization are in good agreement.  相似文献
