Application of an appropriate electric field on donor-doped polycrystalline BaTiO3 (tetragonal) leads to the formation of the cubic phase in the specimen because of Joule heating. Coexistence of the tetragonal and cubic phases depends on the magnitude of the applied field and on ambient and ceramic-body temperature, and it is a prerequisite for the current-limiting action of these ceramics. The contributions from the tetragonal and cubic phases for the charge transport is evidenced from a capacitance-voltage measurement.  相似文献

Silver nanoparticles (AgNP) have been widely applied because of their broad spectrum of antimicrobial activities against bacteria, fungi, and viruses. However, little research has been done to evaluate their effects on Cronobacter sakazakii, an opportunistic pathogen usually infecting infants and having a high fatality rate. The aims of this work were to investigate the antibacterial property of novel, synthesized, positively charged silver nanoparticles against C. sakazakii and to discuss the potential antibacterial mechanisms involved. In this study, the spherical and face-centered cubic silver nanoparticles had a mean particle size of 31.2 nm and were synthesized by reducing Ag+ using citrate and dispersed by glycerol and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) under alkaline conditions. Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) and inhibition zone tests showed that the AgNP exhibited strong antibacterial activity against 4 tested C. sakazakii strains with mean MIC of 62.5 to 125 mg/L and average inhibition zone diameters of 13.8 to 16.3 mm. Silver nanoparticles caused cell membrane injury accompanied by adsorption of AgNP onto the cell surface, as shown by changes in cell morphology, cell membrane hyperpolarization, and accelerated leakage of intracellular reducing sugars and proteins outward from the cytoplasm. In addition, dysfunction of the respiratory chain was induced after treatment with AgNP, which was supported by a decrease in intracellular ATP and inhibition of related dehydrogenases. This research indicates that AgNP could be a novel and efficient antibacterial agent to control C. sakazakii contamination in environments producing powdered infant formulas from milk.  相似文献

This study determined the prevalence of Salmonella serovars, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and resistance genes in Salmonella isolated from retail meats purchased in Alberta, Canada. Samples were collected during one year period (May 2007–April 2008) on weekly basis from 19 census divisions in Alberta. A total of 564 samples including chicken (n = 206), turkey (n = 91), beef (n = 134) and pork (n = 133) were purchased. Salmonella were recovered from chicken (40%), turkey (27%) and pork (2%) samples and was not found in ground beef. A total of 21, 8, and 3 different serovars were recovered from chicken, turkey and pork meats, respectively. Salmonella Hadar was most common in chicken whereas S. Heidelberg was common in turkey meat. Overall 29% (32/110) of isolates were susceptible to tested antimicrobials and resistance to ciprofloxacin, amikacin and nalidixic acid was not found in any isolate. Multiresistance (≥2 antimicrobials) was found in 56% of isolates. Resistance to amoxicillin–clavulanic acid (AMC), ceftiofur (TIO), and ceftriaxone (CRO) was found in about 21% of chicken and 25% of turkey isolates. Resistance to either of tetracycline (TET), streptomycin (STR) or ampicillin (AMP) was unconditionally associated with S. Hadar but resistance to either of TET, AMP, AMC, TIO, CRO or cefoxitin was associated with S. Heidelberg. The strA/B (42% isolates), tet(A) (28% isolates), blaCMY-2 (21% isolates) and blaTEM (17% isolates) were the most common resistance genes found. The blaCMY-2 and blaTEM genes were unconditionally associated with S. Heidelberg; tet(A) and strA/B with S. Hadar and tet(B) gene with S. Kentucky. The strA/B genes were not associated with S. Heidelberg. Our data suggests that the prevalence of Salmonella serovars varied by the meat type and that AMR and resistance genes varied by the Salmonella serovars.  相似文献

The gum exudate of Khaya grandifoliola has only limited solubility in water. Analysis of the gum showed that approximately 50% was in the free acid form and the remainder was largely the calcium salt. The gum dissolves in sodium carbonate solution with removal of calcium ions. This significantly alters the viscosity of the solution but it may be controlled by addition of calcium ions.  相似文献

Prevention of pathogen colonization of medical implants is a major medical and financial issue since infection by microorganisms constitutes one of the most serious complications after surgery or critical care. Immobilization of antimicrobial molecules on biomaterials surfaces is an efficient approach to prevent biofilm formation. Herein, the first self‐defensive coating against both bacteria and yeasts is reported, where the release of the antimicrobial peptide is triggered by enzymatic degradation of the film due to the pathogens themselves. Biocompatible and biodegradable polysaccharide multilayer films based on functionalized hyaluronic acid by cateslytin (CTL), an endogenous host‐defensive antimicrobial peptide, and chitosan (HA‐CTL‐C/CHI) are deposited on a planar surface with the aim of designing both antibacterial and antifungal coating. After 24 h of incubation, HA‐CTL‐C/CHI films fully inhibit the development of Gram‐positive Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and Candida albicans yeasts, which are common and virulent pathogens agents encountered in care‐associated diseases. Hyaluronidase, secreted by the pathogens, leads to the film degradation and the antimicrobial action of the peptide. Furthermore, the limited fibroblasts adhesion, without cytotoxicity, on HA‐CTL‐C/CHI films highlights a medically relevant application to prevent infections on catheters or tracheal tubes where fibrous tissue encapsulation is undesirable.  相似文献

Under truncated life tests, two types of repetitive acceptance sampling plans are proposed to ensure the quality of products in terms of percentile lifetime when the lifetime follows the Burr type XII distribution. The proposed acceptance sampling plans, including the ordinary repetitive acceptance sampling plan and the repetitive version of a group acceptance sampling plan, are developed to meet producer’s and consumer’s risks at two specified lifetime percentiles, simultaneously. Useful tables have been established for a wide range of Burr type XII distributions which include the log–logistic distribution for practical utilization. This article describes the synthesis of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) nanowires using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. The MoS2-nanowires converts into micro-flake structures with the help of argon (Ar) plasma for the better hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activity. The MoS2-nanowires treated by post-Ar plasma at different time of intervals (20 seconds, 40 seconds, 60 seconds, and 3 minutes). The plasma treatment significantly tailored the structure of pristine MoS2-nanowires due to which additional active sites were produced at the surface of treated MoS2. A notable HER activity were achieved by plasma-treated MoS2. To boost the HER activity up to next level, visible light was used at the time of electrocatalysis which enhanced the electrocatalytic activity almost double, which is evident by the low overpotential (190 mV) at current density of 10 mAcm−2.  相似文献

Prior research in botnet detection has used the bot lifecycle to build detection systems. These systems, however, use rule-based decision engines which lack automated adaptability and learning, accuracy tunability, the ability to cope with gaps in training data, and the ability to incorporate local security policies. To counter these limitations, we propose to replace the rigid decision engines in contemporary bot detectors with a more formal Bayesian inference engine. Bottleneck, our prototype implementation, builds confidence in bot infections based on the causal bot lifecycle encoded in a Bayesian network. We evaluate Bottleneck by applying it as a post-processing decision engine on lifecycle events generated by two existing bot detectors (BotHunter and BotFlex) on two independently-collected datasets. Our experimental results show that Bottleneck consistently achieves comparable or better accuracy than the existing rule-based detectors when the test data is similar to the training data. For differing training and test data, Bottleneck, due to its automated learning and inference models, easily surpasses the accuracies of rule-based systems. Moreover, Bottleneck’s stochastic nature allows its accuracy to be tuned with respect to organizational needs. Extending Bottleneck’s Bayesian network into an influence diagram allows for local security policies to be defined within our framework. Lastly, we show that Bottleneck can also be extended to incorporate evidence trustscore for false alarm reduction.  相似文献
