Boron nitride (BN) nanohorns were synthesized by an arc-melting method, and atomic structure models for BN nanohorns with tetragonal BN rings were proposed from high-resolution electron microscopy and image calculation. Stability and electronic structures of the BN nanohorns were investigated by molecular orbital calculations, comparing with carbon nanohorns. The calculation showed that multi-walled BN nanohorns would be stabilized by the stacking of BN nanohorns. An energy gap of BN nanohorn was calculated to be 0.80 eV, which is lower compared to those of BN clusters and nanotubes.  相似文献

A hologram multiplexing technique-that uses random wave fronts generated by photorefractive beam fanning is investigated. A storage photorefractive crystal generates various random wave fronts to be used as reference beams without the external diffusers such as ground glass and multimode optical fiber that are generally employed. We experimentally demonstrate hologram multiplexing with six images and show that the stored holograms can be selectively retrieved. We also simulate photorefractive beam fanning inside a BaTiO3 crystal, in particular regarding the correlation properties of the fanning beams for the first time to our knowledge, and reveal the conditions of incidence of an object beam and a reference beam required for suppressing image degradation, implementing low-cross-talk retrieval, and producing a large number of stored holograms.  相似文献

No Heading We have investigated the laminar and the turbulent flow in superfluid 4He using a vibrating wire made of thin NbTi ( 2.5 m). The wire velocity as a function of applied force has shown a large hysteresis at the first cooling from normal fluid to the superfluid state. But after a couple of increasing and decreasing wire velocity we have found that the hysteresis vanished and the laminar and the turbulent flow are clearly separated at a critical velocity. The wire moving just after the first cooling must be influenced by remnant vortices nucleated through the superfluid transition. The appearance of the laminar flow below the critical velocity suggests that vortex strings on the wire seem to be selected as suitable sizes by a vibrating flow at higher velocities. We also measured the velocity dependence after immersing the wire directly into the superfluid and found that the laminar region expands up to a velocity much higher than the critical velocity observed above. This result indicates that remnant vortices are considerably reduced by the immersing method.PACS numbers: 67.40.Vs, 47.27.Cn  相似文献

A simulation system for arrhythmias has been developed using Windows-based software technology, ActiveX control. The cardiac module consists of six cells, the sinus, atrium, AV node, ventricle, and ectopic foci. The physiological properties of the cells, the automaticity and conduction delay, were modelled, respectively, by the phase response curve and the excitability recovery curve. Cell functions were implemented in the ActiveX control and incorporated into the cardiac module. The system draws the ECG sequence as a ladder diagram in real time. The system interactively shows diverse arrhythmias for various user settings of the cell function and bidirectional conduction between the cells. Users are able to experiment virtually by setting up a so-called electrophysiological stimulation. This system is useful for learning and for teaching the interaction between the cells and arrhythmias.  相似文献

A Schizosaccharomyces pombe mutant deficient in Cu,Zn-superoxide dismutase (sod1 mutant) was hypersensitive to phloxine B, which is used as a food-colouring agent and also to distinguish diploid strains of Sz. pombe from haploid strains, under illumination with light. The pro-oxidant nature of phloxine B was confirmed biochemically. The carbonyl content of proteins (which represents protein oxidation) increased, and the reduced form of glutathione was transiently decreased by phloxine B treatment under illumination with light. When cells were treated with phloxine B under light, carbonyl content of proteins in the sod1 mutant was greater than that in the wild-type and amount of glutathione was much decreased in the sod1 mutant compared with the wild-type. Genes induced by oxidative stress were induced by phloxine B under illumination with light and some were induced by phloxine B without light.  相似文献

Between 1988 and 2000, changes in the above-ground biomass (AGB) of trees in an East Kalimantan lowland forest, damaged by fires in 1982–83 and 1998, were estimated using allometric functions and an annual inventory of stem diameter. The original vegetation of the study site was lowland dipterocarp forest which has since been affected by selective logging and wild fires. The 1982–83 fire killed large trees of primary species and the opened sites became dominated by a few pioneer species. Between 1988 and 1997, a few pioneer tree species, namely Macaranga spp., dominated a heavily disturbed stand (HDS). Primary tree species that survived the 1982–83 fire dominated a lightly disturbed stand (LDS). A moderately disturbed stand (MDS) contained vegetation intermediate between the HDS and the LDS. In 1997, there were 553, 499 and 356 trees ha-1 in the HDS, MDS and LDS, respectively. Macaranga trees accounted for 70, 40 and 11 of the total number of trees in the HDS, MDS, and LDS, respectively. In 1997, the AGB of trees in the HDS, MDS, and LDS was 117, 280, and 315 Mg ha-1, respectively. The proportion of biomass accounted for by Macaranga trees for the HDS, MDS, and LDS was 34, 8 and 1, respectively. The pioneer trees did not compensate for the loss of aboveground biomass resulting from the death of large primary trees. The fire in 1998 again decreased AGB of the stands. In 2000, the AGB of trees in the HDS, MDS, and LDS was 27, 106, and 219 Mg ha-1, respectively. The sites opened up by the 1998 fire were covered with the pioneer seedlings and seemingly dominated by the pioneer trees with a larger number of stems per ha, but lower biomass as compared to the original forest (> 400 Mg ha-1).  相似文献

We have deposited SrTiO3 thin films on Nb-doped SrTiO3 substrates by pulsed laser deposition at temperatures of up to 1400°C. Reflection high energy electron diffraction was used to monitor the film growth mode at various temperatures and it was shown that growth proceeded in the step-flow mode at above 900°C. Capacitors were formed by evaporating platinum pads on the film surface and gold pads on the substrate. Films grown in the step-flow mode showed consistently higher dielectric constants below 200 K than films grown in the layer-by-layer mode. Films with the highest dielectric constant () were obtained using a stoichiometric ablation target at an oxygen pressure of 10SrTiO3 –6SrTiO3 Torr.  相似文献

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, 22∶6n−3) is one of the major polyunsaturated fatty acids esterified predominantly in aminophospholipids such as ethanolamine glycerophospholipid (EtnGpl) and serine glycerophospholipid (SerGpl) in the brain. Synaptosomes prepared from rats fed an n−3 fatty acid-deficient safflower oil (Saf) diet had significantly decreased 22∶6n−3 content with a compensatory increased 22∶5n−6 content when compared with rats fed an n−3 fatty acid-sufficient perilla oil (Per) diet. When the Saf group was shifted to a diet supplemented with safflower oil plus 22∶6n−3 (Saf+DHA) after weaning, 22∶6n−3 content was found to be restored to the level of the Per group. The uptake of [3H]ethanolamine and its conversion to [3H]EtnGpl did not differ significantly among the three dietary groups, whereas the formation of [3H]lysoEtnGpl from [3H]ethanolamine was significantly lower in the Saf group than in the other groups. The uptake of [3H]serine, its incorporation into [3H]SerGpl, and the conversion into [3H]EtnGpl by decarboxylation of [3H]SerGpl did not differ among the three dietary groups. The observed decrease in lysoEtnGpl formation associated with a reduction of 22∶6n−3 content in rat brain synaptosomes by n−3 fatty acid deprivation may provide a clue to reveal biochemical bases for the dietary fatty acids-behavior link.  相似文献

L-Menthyl alpha-D-glucopyranoside (alpha-MenG) is a desirable derivative of L-menthol with useful properties for the production of new flavors and novel food additives. Bacteria were screened for alpha-anomer-selective glucosylation activity toward l-menthol, resulting in the isolation of two strains, Xanthomonas campestris WU-9701 and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia WU-9702, from independent soil samples. Since the safety of X. campestris for use in the food industry is well established, WU-9701 was selected as the more suitable strain for further study. When 50 mg X. campestris WU-9701 lyophilized cells as a biocatalyst were incubated with 1.0 M maltose and 100 mg L-menthol in 10 ml of 10 mM H3BO3NaOHKCl buffer (pH 8.0) at 40 degrees C, alpha-MenG was accumulated, mainly in a crystalline form, through the anomer-selective synthesis reaction without any by-product formation. Under the optimal conditions, 202 mg alpha-MenG was obtained over 48 h with a highest conversion yield of 99.1% based on the supplied L-menthol. Crude alpha-MenG formed through this "crystal accumulation reaction" was easily collected from the reaction mixture by separation on filter paper. Plank-like crystals of purified alpha-MenG were subsequently obtained by recrystallization in ethyl acetate solution.  相似文献
