Between 1990 and 1992, a series of three experiments compared the effects of incorporating or removing straw from a total of five preceding cereal crops on the nutrient concentration, uptake and processing quality of sugarbeet. Incorporated straw increased K concentrations in tops and roots and increased total K uptake by c 40 kg ha-1. Conversely, incorporated straw reduced Na concentrations and reduced total Na uptake by c 10 kg ha-1. Straw incorporation had little effect on root processing quality, because whilst K impurities increased in the straw incorporated treatments, Na impurities were reduced. Generally, any effects of straw disposal method on concentration and uptake of phosphorus, calcium and magnesium were small and of little agronomic or economic significance. In the absence of regular soil analysis it is recommended that when straw has been incorporated that K fertiliser rates for beet are reduced by c 20 kg ha-1. This is less than the allowance made for cereals. Also, contrary to the current cereal recommendation, there was no evidence for reducing P inputs when straw had been incorporated. © 1997 SCI. 相似文献

Influence of polymers on microstructure and adhesive strength of cementitious tile adhesive mortars 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
The impact of polymer modification on the physical properties of cementitious mortars is investigated using a multimethod approach. Special emphasis is put on the identification and quantification of different polymer components within the cementitious matrix. With respect to thin-bed applications, particularly tile adhesives, the spatial distributions of latex, cellulose ether (CE), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), and cement hydration products can be quantified. It is shown that capillary forces and evaporation induce water fluxes in the interconnected part of the pore system, which transport CE, PVA, and cement ions to the mortar interfaces. In contrast, the distribution of latex remains homogeneous. In combination with results from qualitative experiments, the quantitative findings allow reconstruction of the evolution from fresh to hardened mortar, including polymer film formation, cement hydration, and water migration. The resulting microstructure and the failure modes can be correlated with the final adhesive strength of the tile adhesive. The results demonstrate that skinning prior to tile inlaying can strongly reduce wetting properties of the fresh mortar and lower final adhesive strength. 相似文献

OBJECTIVE: We report a case of isolated triceps weakness resulting from radial neuropathy. PATIENT: A middle-aged healthy man, a keen athlete, developed acute weakness of the triceps brachii muscle due to radial neuropathy. No other radial nerve innervated muscles were involved. Triceps function completely recovered in six weeks clinically and electrophysiologically suggesting focal conduction block secondary to demyelination. DISCUSSION: Acute radial neuropathy after strenuous arm exercise resulting from a compression lesion with acute conduction block, has been previously described. However, all reported cases involved severe weakness of radial nerve innervated distal muscles with wrist drop, while isolated weakness of the triceps brachii muscle in radial neuropathy has never been previously described. CONCLUSIONS: We suggest that selective weakness in the triceps could be the sole manifestation of an exercise-related radial neuropathy. This particular type of radial neuropathy could be a variant of neuralgic amyotrophy. 相似文献

We present the first case of cerebral splenosis, occurring in a 20-year-old man 15 years after posttraumatic splenectomy. He became symptomatic through seizures and was operated on for suspected meningioma of the right occipital pole. Histologic evaluation of the lesion revealed splenic tissue with matching immunohistochemical results. To reveal the peptide contents of the visually nonidentifiable neurons from a neuronal circuit of interest, we combined retrograde labeling of neurons with mass spectrometric single cell analysis. We used the neuronal circuit involved in the copulation behavior of a freshwater snail, Lymnaea stagnalis, as a model. Central neurons that control this behavior are known to send their axons to the penis nerve and innervate the penis complex. By retrograde filling from the penis nerve with nickel-lysine, these neurons were selectively labeled darkish blue. Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) time-of-flight mass spectrometric analyses of single stained neurons in the parietal ganglion from different animals reveal consistently the presence of several molecular ion species in the range of 800-1200 Da. From a single neuron, six molecular ion species were further characterized with MALDI time-of-flight/time-of-flight mass spectrometry, which demonstrates that the peptides are derived from a previously reported -FLRFamide precursor. 相似文献
