The catalytic dehydrogenation (DH) and oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of light alkanes are of significant industrial importance. In this work both carbonaceous material deposited on VOx/Al2O3 catalysts during reaction and unsupported carbon nanofibres (CNFs) are shown to be active for the dehydrogenation of butane in the absence of gas-phase oxygen. Their activity in these reactions is shown to be dependent upon their structure, with different reaction temperatures yielding structurally different coke deposits. Terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS), among other techniques, has been applied to the characterisation of these deposits – the first time this technique has been employed in coke studies. TEM and other techniques show that coke encapsulates the catalyst, preventing access to VOx sites, without a loss of activity. Studies on CNFs confirm that carbonaceous materials act as catalysts in this reaction. Carbon-based catalysts represent an important new class of potential catalysts for DH and ODH reactions. 相似文献

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations of the hydrodynamic behavior of rotating fluidized beds in static geometry (RFB-SG) are carried out for gas–solid flows. The rotating motion of the reactor bed is induced by the tangential injection of the gas along the circumference of the fluidization chamber. Steep gradients in the gas velocity fields both in radial and tangential direction generate turbulence. The radial and tangential drag forces fluidize the particle bed in both radial and tangential direction.An Eulerian two-fluid model is used. Gas phase turbulence is accounted for by a k–ε model adapted for rotational flows. The RFB-SG simulations provide guidelines for a design and operation with a high efficiency in gas–solid momentum transfer, excellent gas–solid separation and limited solids losses. Hydrodynamic variables like the centrifugal force, the injection pressure, the radial and tangential slip velocities, solids hold-up are calculated for both polymer particles (300 μm, 950 kg/m3, Geldart Group B) and glass beads (70 μm, 2500 kg/m3, Geldart Group A) to allow for a comparison among different fluidization chamber designs. The concept and use of a rotating chimney for compressing rotating fluidized beds is theoretically and experimentally studied. A rotating chimney is shown to drastically increase the operating flexibility of rotating fluidized beds and to allow a significant improvement of the particle bed uniformity. Considering that several health promoting properties are associated with kefir consumption and a reliable probiotic product requires a complete identification of the bacterial species, the present work evaluates several proved markers of probiotic potential of eleven isolates of homofermentative lactobacilli isolated from kefir grains and molecular identification and genotypic diversity. Using restriction analysis of amplified ribosomal DNA (ARDRA) and analysis of the 16S-23S rRNA internal spacer region we confirmed that all homofermentative lactobacilli belong to the species Lactobacillus plantarum. RAPD-PCR analysis allowed the discrimination of lactobacilli in five clusters. All isolates exhibited high resistance to bile salt. High survival after one hour of exposure to pH 2.5 was observed in Lb. plantarum CIDCA 8313, 83210, 8327 and 8338. All isolates were hydrophilic and non autoaggregative. Isolate CIDCA 8337 showed the highest percentage of adhesion among strains. All tested lactobacilli had strong inhibitory power against Salmonella typhimurium and Escherichia coli. Seven out of eleven isolates showed inhibition against Sal. enterica and five isolates were effective against Sal. gallinarum. Only CIDCA 8323 and CIDCA 8327 were able to inhibit Sal. sonnei. We did not find any correlation between the five clusters based on RAPD-PCR and the probiotic properties, suggesting that these isolates have unique characteristics. 相似文献

The snowpack can impact atmospheric chemistry by exchanging adsorbed or dissolved gases with the atmosphere. Modeling this impact requires the knowledge of the specific surface area (SSA) of snow and its variations with time. We have therefore measured the evolution of the SSA of eight recent surface snow layers in the Arctic and the French Alps, using CH4 adsorption at liquid nitrogen temperature (77 K). The SSA of fresh snow layers was found to decrease with time, from initial values in the range 613-1540 cm2/g to values as low as 257 cm2/g after 6 days. This is explained by snow metamorphism, which causes modifications in crystal shapes, here essentially crystal rounding and the disappearance of microstructures. A parametrization of the rate of SSA decrease is proposed. We fit the SSA decrease to an exponential law and find that the time constant alpha(exp) (day(-1)) depends on temperature according to alpha(exp) = 76.6 exp (-1708/7), with Tin kelvin. Our parametrization predicts that the SSA of a snow layer evolving at -40 degrees C will decrease by a factor of 2 after 14 days, while a similar decrease at -1 degrees C will only require 5 days. Two novel amperometric biosensors for the determination of L -malic acid in food samples have been compared. Both sensors make use of a Clark-type O2-electrode but differ in the enzymes used. The first sensor is composed of malate dehydrogenase (decarboxylating), also known as ‘malic enzyme’ (MDH(dec.), EC 1.1.1.40) and pyruvate oxidase (POP, EC 1.2.3.3). It covers a linear detection range from 1 μmol dm−3 to 0·9 mmol dm−3 L -malate, with a response time of 1·5 min (t90) and a relative standard deviation of 3·5%. Measurements with real samples offered a good correlation with the standard enzymatic assay (difference ±7%). Stored at room temperature, the response of the sensor is constant for 8 days. The second biosensor is based on the three enzyme sequence malate dehydrogenase (MDH, EC 1.1.1.37), oxaloacetate decarboxylase (OAC, EC 4.1.1.3) and pyruvate oxidase (POP, EC 1.2.3.3). It has a non-linear calibration curve. Concentrations from 5 μmol dm−3 to 1 mmol dm−3 L -malate can be detected, within a response time of 1·5 min and with a relative standard deviation of 20%. The lower detection limit for L -malate is 2 μmol dm−3. The response is constant for 10 days when the sensor is stored at room temperature. 相似文献

We present a fluorescence lifetime imaging technique with simultaneous spectral and temporal resolution. The technique is fully compatible with the commonly used multiphoton microscopes and nondescanned (direct) detection. An image of the back-aperture of the microscope lens is projected on the input of a fiber bundle. The input of the fiber bundle is circular, and the output is flattened to match the input slit of a spectrograph. The spectrum at the output of the spectrograph is projected on a 16-anode PMT module. For each detected photon, the encoding logics of the PMT module deliver a timing pulse and the number of the PMT channel in which the photon was detected. The photons are accumulated by a multidimensional time-correlated single photon counting (TCSPC) process. The recording process builds up a four-dimensional photon distribution over the times of the photons in the excitation pulse period, the wavelengths of the photons, and the coordinates of the scan area. The method delivers a near-ideal counting efficiency and is capable of resolving double-exponential decay functions. We demonstrate the performance of the technique for autofluorescence imaging of tissue. 相似文献

The separation of water from diesel fuel is very important for safety, ecological, and economic reasons, as otherwise it can lead to lower combustion efficiency and engine problems.
