We demonstrate a novel wavelength-division add/drop multiplexer employing fiber Bragg gratings and polarization beam splitters. The multiplexer is easy to fabricate without any special technique such as UV trimming, and yet shows very stable performance with less than 0.3-dB crosstalk power penalty in a 0.8-nm-spaced, 2.5-Gb/s-per-channel wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) transmission system.  相似文献

Oral disease is one of the most common conditions worldwide, negatively affecting general health, reducing the quality of life, and often developing into systemic illness. However, the design of therapeutic agents for oral diseases is challenging due to various unique features of the oral cavity, including its wet and dynamic environment and curved shape. Herein, the development of highly biocompatible mucoadhesive functional hydrogels for oral applications is reported, generated by introducing bio-inspired phenolic moieties into a pectin polymer. Pyrogallol-functionalized pectin (Pec-PG) can be crosslinked in situ via autoxidation without chemical agents and readily fabricated as various formulations. Sprayable Pec-PG hydrogel exhibits strong mucoadhesion and outstanding hydration ability ex vivo and in vivo, thus displaying significant potential as a novel saliva substitute for dry mouth. The authors further show that topical application of mucoadhesive Pec-PG patches pre-loaded with corticosteroid significantly promotes the repair of diabetic oral ulcer tissue via prolonged drug release, free radical scavenging, and physical barrier effects. Moreover, similar applications for oral ulcer treatment using a pectin hydrogel modified with catechol (Pec-CA), another phenolic moiety are demonstrated. Together, these findings suggest that mucoadhesive phenolic pectin derivatives can provide highly biocompatible, convenient, and effective hydrogel platforms for treating oral diseases.  相似文献

A novel, maskless, low‐volume bumping material, called solder bump maker, which is composed of a resin and low‐melting‐point solder powder, has been developed. The resin features no distinct chemical reactions preventing the rheological coalescence of the solder, a deoxidation of the oxide layer on the solder powder for wetting on the pad at the solder melting point, and no major weight loss caused by out‐gassing. With these characteristics, the solder was successfully wetted onto a metal pad and formed a uniform solder bump array with pitches of 120 µm and 150 µm.  相似文献

Effects of fixed charge on R0A value of ZnS-passivated x=0.3 HgCdTe n-on-p diode are explained as a shunt resistance that affects current-voltage (I-V) and dynamic resistance-voltage (Rd-V) characteristics. The fixed charge of 1×1011/cm2 to 2 × 1011/cm2 which is usually obtained with ZnS passivation makes the surface weakly inverted and reduces HgCdTe diode R0A value owing to the short generation lifetime of HgCdTe substrate. The gate-controlled diode and specially fabricated diode are used to explain the surface leakage current in the weak inversion and charge sheet model is used to explain the characteristics. It is found that the surface leakage current by the inverted channel in the weak inversion can reduce R0A more than other currents such as the generation current and tunneling current which are usually used to explain the surface leakage current of HgCdTe diode.  相似文献

Magnificent elongation of bridge span length, especially of recently constructed cable stayed bridges and suspension bridges, can be achieved by technological as well as new material development of orthotropic steel deck systems. One such effort is to install curved bulkhead plates inside longitudinal u-ribs, which was analytically and experimentally demonstrated to reduce significant amount of concentrated stresses without sacrificing self-weight of the whole structure. In this paper, the optimal shape of more effective bulkhead plates is characterized by computational analysis. And it is verified from fatigue tests of a 3-dimensional full-scale structure that the fatigue performance can be significantly improved by installing the optimal bulkhead plates and by fabricating the structure out of recently developed high performance steel for bridges.  相似文献

In the current study, we investigated the biotransformation of monosodium glutamate (MSG) to gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) by the growing and resting cells from an isolated bacterial strain, Lactobacillus brevis. This strain is a high GABA-producing strain that was identified and isolated from natural kimchi. We gathered the experiment results by design of response surface methodology (RSM) for optimum condition for GABA production and results indicated the optimum culture temperature (35°C) and culture time (58 h). Using resting cells from the same culture batch in the substrate-containing buffer, approximately 3.98 g/l of GABA was produced at a conversion rate of 65.6%. GABA-treated mice showed significantly increased sleep duration compared to that of a control group (p < 0.05) in the pentobarbital-induced sleep test using a hypnotic dose. These results suggest that biotransformed GABA could potentially be used a novel nutraceutical supplement for sleep.  相似文献

A high-performance NO gas sensor was prepared by inducing thermal fluorination of carbon nanotube semiconductors. Thermal fluorination of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) was carried out at various temperatures (100 ∼ 1000 °C) to investigate the effects of the reaction temperature. The mechanism of high-performance NO gas sensor electrode was shown to depend on the fluorination temperature in a way that can be divided into three regions, separated at 400 and 1000 °C. In the first temperature region, the induction of fluorine functional groups onto MWCNTs showed the opposite trend in electrical resistance change comparing with traditional p-type MWCNTs. In the second temperature region, the induced fluorine functional groups were attenuated by generated fluorinated carbon gases resulting in the decomposition of MWCNTs and the recovery of traditional p-type gas sensor behavior. In the highest temperature region above 1000 °C, reoriented carbon structure was observed, showing bent nanotubes produced from destruction by fluorination and subsequent reorientation due to the high temperature. The gas sensing responsiveness was significantly improved by the thermal fluorination, which causes electrophilic attraction, creates adsorption sites for target NO gases and improve hydrophobicity for gas sensing stability in humid condition. In conclusion, a high-performance gas sensor was obtained by thermal-fluorination of MWCNTs.  相似文献

Five major mulberry [Pachungsipyung (M-1), Whazosipmunja (M-2), Suwonnosang (M-3), Jasan (M-4) and Mocksang (M-5)] cultivated in Korea were assessed for their polyphenolic composition using spectrophotometric methodology, and tested for antioxidant potential by some different assays. The total polyphenol (TP) was found from 2235 to 2570 μg/g gallic acid equivalents, total anthocyanin (TA) content to vary from 1229 to 2057 μg/g, coloured anthocyanins (CA) from 126 to 190 μg/g, and total flavanol (TF) from 16.4 to 65.4 μg/g catechin equivalents except Mocksang (M-5). The ethanolic extract from mulberry fruit shows a rapid and concentration-dependent increase of antioxidant activity. Especially, the antioxidant activities of M-2 and M-4 are higher than those of the others in a hemoglobin-induced linoleic acid system. The reducing power compared with BHT was observed to high value in M-2, M-3 and M-4 extracts. Effectiveness in reducing powers was in a descending order of M-4>M-2>M-3>M-1>M-1. The DPPH-scavenging ability of the ethanolic extract from mulberry fruit was 60.0% at 200 and 212 μg of M-2 and M-4, respectively. M-2 and M-4 also showed sharply increase of hydroxyl scavenging ability with concentration of the extracts. IC50 values in scavenging abilities on hydroxyl radicals were 30 mg and in a descending order of M-5>M-3>M-1>M-4>M-2. Superoxide anion-sacavenging activities of M-2, M-3 and M-4 showed 17.1, 14.5 and 14.8 SOD unit/mg, respectively.  相似文献
