Taxonomic confusion exists within the genus Epinephelus due to the lack of morphological specializations and the overwhelming number of species reported in several studies. The homogenous nature of the morphology has created confusion in the Malaysian Marine fish species Epinephelus fuscoguttatus and Epinephelus hexagonatus. In this study, the partial DNA sequence of the 16S gene and mitochondrial nucleotide sequences of two gene regions, Cytochrome Oxidase Subunit I and III were used to investigate the phylogenetic relationship between them. In the phylogenetic trees, E. fuscoguttatus was monophyletic with E. hexagonatus species and morphology examination shows that no significant differences were found in the morphometric features between these two taxa. This suggests that E. fuscoguttatus is not distinguishable from E. hexagonatus species, and that E. fuscoguttatus have been identified to be E. hexagonatus species is likely attributed to differences in environment and ability to camouflage themselves under certain conditions. Interestingly, this finding was also supported by Principal Component Analysis on Attenuated Total Reflectance–Fourier-transform Infrared (ATR-FTIR) data analysis. Molecular, morphological and meristic characteristics were combined with ATR-FTIR analysis used in this study offer new perspectives in fish species identification. To our knowledge, this is the first report of an extensive genetic population study of E. fuscoguttatus in Malaysia and this understanding will play an important role in informing genetic stock-specific strategies for the management and conservation of this highly valued fish.  相似文献

The outbreaks linked to foodborne illnesses in low-moisture foods are frequently reported due to the occurrence of pathogenic microorganisms such as Salmonella Spp. Bacillus cereus, Clostridium spp., Cronobacter sakazakii, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus aureus. The ability of the pathogens to withstand the dry conditions and to develop resistance to heat is regarded as the major concern for the food industry dealing with low-moisture foods. In this regard, the present review is aimed to discuss the importance and the use of novel thermal and nonthermal technologies such as radiofrequency, steam pasteurization, plasma, and gaseous technologies for decontamination of foodborne pathogens in low-moisture foods and their microbial inactivation mechanisms. The review also summarizes the various sources of contamination and the factors influencing the survival and thermal resistance of pathogenic microorganisms in low-moisture foods. The literature survey indicated that the nonthermal techniques such as CO2, high-pressure processing, and so on, may not offer effective microbial inactivation in low-moisture foods due to their insufficient moisture content. On the other hand, gases can penetrate deep inside the commodities and pores due to their higher diffusion properties and are regarded to have an advantage over thermal and other nonthermal processes. Further research is required to evaluate newer intervention strategies and combination treatments to enhance the microbial inactivation in low-moisture foods without significantly altering their organoleptic and nutritional quality.  相似文献

Modeling the water flow in cohesive fracture is a fundamental issue in the crack growth simulation of cracked concrete gravity dams and hydraulic fracture problems. In this paper, a mathematical model is presented for the analysis of fracture propagation in the semi-saturated porous media. The solid behavior incorporates a discrete cohesive fracture model, coupled with the flow in porous media through the fracture network. The double-nodded zero-thickness cohesive interface element is employed for the mixed mode fracture behavior in tension and contact behavior in compression. The modified crack permeability is applied in fracture propagation based on the data obtained from experimental results to implement the roughness of fracture walls.  相似文献

Modeling the effect of temperature on growth of Salmonella in chicken   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Growth data of Salmonella in chicken were collected at several isothermal conditions (10, 15, 20, 25, 28, 32, 35, 37, 42, and 45 degrees C) and were then fitted into primary models, namely the logistic model, modified Gompertz model and Baranyi model. Measures of goodness-of-fit such as mean square error, pseudo-R(2), -2 log likelihood, Akaike's information, and Sawa's Bayesian information criteria were used for comparison for these primary models. Based on these criteria, modified Gompertz model described growth data the best, followed by the Baranyi model, and then the logistic model. The maximum growth rates obtained from each primary model were then modeled as a function of temperature using the modified Ratkowsky model. Pseudo-R(2) values for this secondary model describing growth rate obtained from Baranyi, modified Gompertz, and logistic models were 0.999, 0.980, and 0.990, respectively. Mean square error values for corresponding models were 0.0002, 0.0008, and 0.0009, respectively. Both measures clearly show that the Baranyi model performed better than the modified Gompertz model or the logistic model.  相似文献

A 3‐dimensional (3‐D) multiphysics model was developed to understand the microwave heating process of a real heterogeneous food, multilayered frozen lasagna. Near‐perfect 3‐D geometries of food package and microwave oven were used. A multiphase porous media model combining the electromagnetic heat source with heat and mass transfer, and incorporating phase change of melting and evaporation was included in finite element model. Discrete rotation of food on the turntable was incorporated. The model simulated for 6 min of microwave cooking of a 450 g frozen lasagna kept at the center of the rotating turntable in a 1200 W domestic oven. Temperature‐dependent dielectric and thermal properties of lasagna ingredients were measured and provided as inputs to the model. Simulated temperature profiles were compared with experimental temperature profiles obtained using a thermal imaging camera and fiber‐optic sensors. The total moisture loss in lasagna was predicted and compared with the experimental moisture loss during cooking. The simulated spatial temperature patterns predicted at the top layer was in good agreement with the corresponding patterns observed in thermal images. Predicted point temperature profiles at 6 different locations within the meal were compared with experimental temperature profiles and root mean square error (RMSE) values ranged from 6.6 to 20.0 °C. The predicted total moisture loss matched well with an RMSE value of 0.54 g. Different layers of food components showed considerably different heating performance. Food product developers can use this model for designing food products by understanding the effect of thickness and order of each layer, and material properties of each layer, and packaging shape on cooking performance.  相似文献

The cloud computing environment is a real‐time communication network that involves a large number of systems connected in a distributed fashion, for which resources are available on demand. In recent years, due to the enormous growth of data and information, data maintenance tasks involve a major effort in information technology (IT) industries. So, IT industries are concentrating on the cloud computing environment in order to maintain their data and manage their resources. Owing to the increase in the number of data centres, which have an impact on electrical energy cost, peak power dissipation, cooling and carbon emission, power‐conservation‐based resource management is essential. A best‐fit heuristic job placement algorithm is proposed in this paper in order to increase the job allocation percentage, a worst‐fit heuristic virtual machine (VM) placement algorithm is also proposed in order to place the VMs over the physical machines (PMs) thereby reducing the number of the latter allotted, and a server consolidation algorithm is proposed in order to improve power conservation. The ESA on-board processing (OBP) satellite system using on-board regeneration and baseband circuit switching has been designed to provide ISDN connectivity and services to users on a Pan-European basis. It is thus seen at its periphery as a 2 Mb/s primary rate access, hence allowing for the interconnection of equipment and terminals compatible with this standard interface. Among the various possible network architectures that the system could support, the business-oriented closed networks look most promising. It has therefore been retained as a prime design driver for OBP system developments. Optionally, connectivity can be offered in an optimized manner to pure data networks, e.g. for LAN-to-LAN interconnection at rates up to 1 Mb/s. In the paper, communication services and networking capabilities offered by the system are briefly reviewed. The internal characteristics of the satellite system allowing for such capabilities are then reviewed and the corresponding performance outlined. The system is shown to be compatible with critical CCITT performance criteria.  相似文献

A microprocessor-based closed-loop system has been developed for wind-driven self-excited induction generators using a controlled rectifier to maintain a constant DC load voltage with varying rotor speeds. The configuration and implementation of the control scheme are described. Test results on a self-excited induction generator demonstrate the satisfactory performance of both the hardware and the software of the control scheme, and the utility of the set-up as a whole. The steady-state analysis of the generator is extended to include the controlled rectifier, and the performance characteristics are predicted  相似文献

A photoconductive antenna (PCA) has been numerically investigated in the terahertz (THz) frequency band based on a hybrid simulation method. This hybrid method utilizes an optoelectronic solver, Silvaco TCAD, and a full-wave electromagnetic solver, CST. The optoelectronic solver is used to find the accurate THz photocurrent by considering realistic material parameters. Performance of photoconductive antennas and temporal behavior of the excited photocurrent for various active region geometries such as bare-gap electrode, interdigitated electrodes, and tip-to-tip rectangular electrodes are investigated. Moreover, investigations have been done on the center of the laser illumination on the substrate, substrate carrier lifetime, and diffusion photocurrent associated with the carriers temperature, to achieve efficient and accurate photocurrent. Finally, using the full-wave electromagnetic solver and the calculated photocurrent obtained from the optoelectronic solver, electromagnetic radiation of the antenna and its associated detected THz signal are calculated and compared with a measurement reference for verification.  相似文献

In this paper, an adaptive finite element procedure is presented in modeling of mixed-mode cohesive crack propagation via the modified superconvergent path recovery technique. The adaptive mesh refinement is performed based on the Zienkiewicz–Zhu error estimator. The weighted-SPR recovery technique is employed to improve the accuracy of error estimation. The Espinosa–Zavattieri bilinear cohesive zone model is applied to implement the traction-separation law. It is worth mentioning that no previous information is necessary for the path of crack growth and no region of the domain is necessary to be filled by the cohesive elements. The maximum principal stress criterion is employed for predicting the direction of extension of the cohesive crack in order to implement the cohesive elements. Several numerical examples are analyzed numerically to demonstrate the capability and efficiency of proposed computational algorithm.  相似文献
