The selective oxidation of glycerol and 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) to diacids over supported gold catalysts (Au/C and Au/TiO2) in liquid water at mild temperatures was a strong function of the added base such as NaOH. Use of hydrotalcite as a solid base in place of NaOH in the HMF reaction medium facilitated the production of diacid over Au/TiO2, but extensive leaching of magnesium suggested that hydrotalcite was consumed stoichiometrically in the reaction. Production of diacids from glycerol oxidation over supported Au catalysts was promoted by operating in a continuous flow reactor and by increasing the catalyst loading in a semi-batch reactor. Trace inhibitors formed by conversion of the product monoacid are proposed to account for the generally low selectivity to diacids over gold catalysts.  相似文献

Micron-sized nanoporous silver powder with pore size of ~100–160 nm and specific surface area of ~4.7–5.5 m2/g was synthesized from three mechanically alloyed Ag-Zn powders (composition: 25, 50 and 75 at.% Zn). Dealloying was carried out at free corrosion conditions in NaOH, HCl and AgNO3 solutions. Both partial and complete dealloying were obtained by suitable choice of electrolyte and time of exposure. Zn in the solution after dealloying was recovered in the form of ZnO nanoparticles with particle size of 55.7 ± 18 nm. The effect of composition and electrolyte on the degree of dealloying was also studied.  相似文献

Investigation of morphology and mechanical properties of biological specimens using atomic force microscopy (AFM) often requires its operation in liquid environment. Due to the hydrodynamic force, the vibration of AFM cantilevers in liquid shows dramatically different dynamic characteristics from that in air. A good understanding of the dynamics of AFM cantilevers vibrating in liquid is needed for the interpretation of scanning images, selection of AFM operating conditions, and evaluation of sample's mechanical properties. In this study, a finite element (FE) model is used for frequency and transient response analysis of AFM cantilevers in tapping mode (TM) operated in air or liquid. Hydrodynamic force exerted by the fluid on AFM cantilevers is approximated by additional mass and hydrodynamic damping. The additional mass and hydrodynamic damping matrices corresponding to beam elements are derived. With this model, numerical simulations are performed for an AFM cantilever to obtain the frequency and transient responses of the cantilever in air and liquid. The comparison between our simulated results and the experimentally obtained ones shows good agreement. Based on the simulations, different characteristics of cantilever dynamics in air and liquid are discussed.  相似文献

In process and manufacturing industries, alarm systems play a critical role in ensuring safe and efficient operations. The objective of a standard industrial alarm system is to detect undesirable deviations in process variables as soon as they occur. Fault detection and diagnosis systems often need to be alerted by an industrial alarm system; however, poorly designed alarms often lead to alarm flooding and other undesirable events. In this article, we consider the problem of industrial alarm design for processes represented by stochastic nonlinear time‐series models. The alarm design for such complex processes faces three important challenges: (1) industrial processes exhibit highly nonlinear behavior; (2) state variables are not precisely known (modeling error); and (3) process signals are not necessarily Gaussian, stationary or uncorrelated. In this article, a procedure for designing a delay timer alarm configuration is proposed for the process states. The proposed design is based on minimization of the rate of false and missed alarm rates—two common performance measures for alarm systems. To ensure the alarm design is robust to any non‐stationary process behavior, an expected‐case and a worst‐case alarm designs are proposed.
