Recent Development of Cognitive and Neuropsychological Assessment in Asian Countries.

There is a growing trend of research in neuropsychological assessment in Asia: The mean number of published studies increased from 1.8 in the 1980s to 16.0 in 2 recent years. About 40% of the studies reviewed concerned test development or adaptation, with the latter greatly outnumbering the former. To facilitate the test selection for clinical use, 36 clinical measures were evaluated based on some statistical criteria. The results showed that only 8 neuropsychological tests (5 Chinese. 2 Korean, and 1 Japanese) met the criteria. Given that Asian and Western populations differ on certain cognitive processes, future development of neuropsychological assessment measures in Asia should move from the adaptation of Western tests toward the construction of original tests with better ecological validity. Flux Jumps and H-T Diagram of Instability for MgB2

We present a study of magneto-thermal instabilities in polycrystalline MgB₂ superconductor, by magnetic hysteresis loop measurements and by investigations of magnetic flux dynamics with a miniature Hall probe. Temperature and magnetic field ranges where the flux jumps may be observed have been determined. On the basis of measurements of the magnetic flux dynamics, an average magnetic diffusivity describing the process of the flux jump is estimated. This parameter is compared with the thermal and magnetic diffusivities calculated on the basis of available data for thermal conductivity, heat capacity and resistivity. It is shown that the estimated value of the field of the first flux jump is influenced significantly by the field dependence of specific heat. In order to explain the observed phenomenon, the temperature reached by the sample during the flux jump at different magnetic fields is calculated.

用φ20mm离心萃取器两步法制取高纯钇

本文研究了中钇富镧稀土的氧化物溶液在环烷酸中的萃取行为，测定了镧钇组成、温度变化与分离系数的关系；在Ｐ＿（５０７）体系中研究了ｐＨ值与分配比的关系；提出用环烷酸、Ｐ＿（５０７）两种萃取剂制备高纯钇的工艺流程。用８４台φ２０ｍｍ离心萃取器进行了一个月的台架试验，结果证明两种萃取剂有很好的互补性，在满足钇的纯度要求下有较高收率。离心萃取器具有易分相、体系存留量少、液流密闭性好等优点，它更适宜于粘度大、级数多、产品纯度要求高的体系。     

Configurable nonlinear filter generator

A configurable nonlinear filter generator is proposed. The nonlinear function employed is key controllable. By changing the key, a different sequence will be obtained. Simulated results show that an optimal linear complexity profile of the sequence can be generated     

Synthesis and characterization of poly(siloxane-urethane)s

A series of polyurethane block copolymers based on hydroxy-terminated polydimethylsiloxane and poly(propylene glycol) soft segments of molecular weights 1818 and 2000, respectively, were synthesized. The hard segments consisted of 4,4′-diphenylnethane diisocyanate and 1,4-butanediol as the chain extender. Samples with different molar ratios were prepared. We tried to synthesize polydimethylsiloxane-based polyurethanes (PDMS-PU) containing a hard block as major fraction and a soft block as minor fraction for preparing toughened rigid systems. After a study of the pure polydimethylsiloxane-based polyurethane and poly(propylene glycol)-based polyurethane (PPG-PU), (mixed polyol)-based block copolymers and blends of PDMS-PU and PPG-PU were synthesized, and characterized by means of differential scanning calorimetry, tensile testing and scanning electron microscopy. In (mixed polyol)-based copolymers and lower hard-segment content blends, macro-phase separation occurred, but blends with higher hard-segment contents showed significant reduction in amounts of phase separation.     

钇铁石榴石薄膜材料的光吸收谱及Bi,Al掺入对谱的影响研究

采用单离子晶场跃迁模型，拟合出钇铁石榴石（ＹＩＧ）薄膜材料的光吸收谱，与实验谱吻合得较好。从实验和理论上分析了（ＢＩＡＩ）ＹＩＧ 薄膜材料的光吸收谱，结果表明，Ａｌ３＋离子的作用如同稀释剂一样，减小了光吸收，Ｂｉ３＋离子由于其强的自旋轨道耦合作用，增大了跃迁振子强度和跃迁线宽，从而增大了光吸收损耗，在此基础上所作的（ＢｉＡｌ）ＹＩＧ的理论谱与实验谱符合得较好。     

Observation of atomic steps on CaCO3 crystal surface

By using scanning polarization force microscopy,the deliquescence process and the atomic steps on the cleavage surface of CaCO3 in air were studied in situ.Under an exposure to medium umidity(-57%),the sloiw step movement has been observed.     

Induction of superoxide dismutase isozymes by tumor necrosis factor-alpha and lipopolysaccharide in cultured normal and hyperplastic gingival fibroblasts

We studied 722 reexcision scars of benign and malignant lesions (except melanocytic lesions) excised over a 24-month period. The formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections were examined histologically and immunohistochemically. The histological features of melanocytic hyperplasia were present in 59 cases (8%), 56 from the sun-exposed skin of the face and neck and three from the trunk [p < 0.00001]. The most common sites were the nose and lower eyelids, but the forehead was also frequently involved. Of the 59 patients, 41 were women (p < 0.0001). Basal cell carcinoma was the most frequent original lesion in both sexes (80%). No melanocytic hyperplasia was found in 663 cases (298 on the trunk and extremities and 365 on the head and neck). We have seen this reaction pattern following reexcision of melanocytic lesions as well. Thus, interpreting reexcision margins when lentigo maligna or similar lesions are reexcised may be fraught with difficulty. It is important for pathologists and dermatopathologists to recognize this phenomenon because histologically the presence of increased numbers of large melanocytes could be misinterpreted as melanoma in situ.
