The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that plasma endothelin-1 (ET-1) and atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) concentrations in patients with ischemic heart disease are related either to myocardial ischemia or left ventricular (LV) dysfunction during dobutamine stress echocardiography. Plasma concentrations of ET-1 and ANP were measured in three patient groups. Group I (n = 21) patients had normal stress echocardiography and a resting LV ejection fraction (LVEF) of 40% or more. Group II (n = 32) had positive stress echocardiography and a resting LVEF of more than 40%. Group III (n = 18) had positive stress echocardiography with a resting LVEF of less than 40%. All three groups were subjected to thallium 201 scintigraphy and coronary angiography studies. The resting LV end-diastolic pressure was significantly higher in groups II and III than in Group I. The LVEF decreased significantly in group III compared to groups I and II. In the resting state, groups II and III had higher ET-1 concentrations than Group I (p = 0.021 and p = 0.039, respectively). The plasma ANP concentration was higher in group III than in groups I and II (p = 0.005 and p = 0.054, respectively). During peak dobutamine infusion, the ET-1 concentration dropped 8.7% from the baseline in group I, 10.2% in group II, and 10.5% in group III. The ANP concentrations were increased in all three groups but only the increase in Group II reached statistical significance. In conclusion, in patients with suspected ischemic heart disease, the concentrations of ET-1 and ANP may predict significant anatomic and functional coronary artery disease. However, ET-1 does not play a pathophysiologic role during an ischemic attack.  相似文献

Elevated levels of serum pancreatic enzymes are frequently observed in hemodialysis (HD) patients. The complex hemodynamic, biochemical, and physiological alterations in uremia were speculated to cause excessive release of pancreatic enzymes beyond decreased renal clearance. However, hemodynamic factors are seldom explored in this aspect. We performed the study to evaluate the association between intradialytic hemodynamic change and elevated serum pancreatic amylase (SPA). Eighty‐three prevalent HD patients without any clinical evidence of acute pancreatitis underwent pre‐HD and post‐HD blood sampling for serum pancreatic enzyme levels. Demographic, biochemical, and hematological data were collected from patient record review. Hemodialysis information including intradialytic blood pressure changes and ultrafiltration (UF) amount were collected and averaged for 1 month before the blood sampling day. Patients with elevated SPA during the HD session had greater mean systolic blood pressure and mean arterial pressure reduction, greater UF volume, greater pre‐HD blood urea nitrogen and serum creatinine, higher serum phosphorus, lower pre‐HD serum total CO2, and lower left ventricle ejection fraction (LVEF). Using multivariate linear and logistic regression analysis, the independent predictors of elevated SPA were determined to be mean arterial pressure reduction during HD, mean UF amount, pre‐HD serum total CO2, and LVEF. Greater blood pressure reduction during HD, greater UF volume, lower pre‐HD serum total CO2, and lower LVEF were significantly associated with elevated SPA during HD. This suggests that hemodynamic factors contribute to elevated serum pancreatic enzymes in HD patients.  相似文献

The crystal structure and microwave dielectric properties of apatite‐type LiRE9(SiO4)6O2 ceramics (RE = La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, and Er) have been investigated. The densification of lithium apatites has been greatly improved with the addition of 1 wt% LiF. Selected area electron diffraction and X‐ray diffraction (XRD) Rietveld analysis confirm that these compounds belong to the P63/m (No. 176) space group with hexagonal crystal symmetry. The porosity‐corrected relative permittivity was found to decrease with decreasing ionic polarizability of RE3+ ions. Relationships between the structural parameters and microwave dielectric properties have been examined. The observed variation in the quality factor of LiRE9(SiO4)6O2 + 1 wt% LiF ceramics (RE = La, Pr, and Nd) was correlated with average cation covalency (%). The temperature coefficient of resonant frequency was found to depend on the bond valence sum of cations. LiEr9(SiO4)6O2 + 1 wt% LiF ceramics showed good microwave dielectric properties with εr = 12.8, Qu × f = 13000 GHz and τf = +17 ppm/°C. All the compositions showed low coefficient of thermal expansion with thermal conductivity in the range 1.3–2.8 W (m K)?1.  相似文献

Abstract

PbTe crystals have been grown by a closed‐tube vacuum sublimation technique. Steps in the preparation of the crystals include (i) purification of the starting materials, (ii) synthesis and purification of the PbTe, and (iii) growth of PbTe crystals. BACKGROUND: Myricetin is a naturally occurring flavonoid that is found in many fruits, vegetables, teas and medicinal herbs. It has been demonstrated to have anti‐inflammatory properties, but, to date, no studies have described the immunomodulatory effects of myricetin on the functions of dendritic cells (DCs). The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential for myricetin to modulate lipopolysaccharide (LPS)‐stimulated activation of mouse bone marrow‐derived DCs. RESULTS: Our experimental data showed that treatment with myricetin up to 10 µg mL−1 does not cause cytotoxicity in cells. Myricetin significantly decreased the secretion of tumour necrosis factor‐α, interleukin‐6 and interleukin‐12p70 by LPS‐stimulated DCs. The expression of LPS‐induced major histocompatibility class II, CD40 and CD86 on DCs was also inhibited by myricetin, and the endocytic and migratory capacity of LPS‐stimulated DCs was blocked by myricentin. In addition, LPS‐stimulated DC‐elicited allogeneic T‐cell proliferation was reduced by myricetin. Moreover, our results confirmed that myricetin attenuates the responses of LPS‐stimulated activation of DCs via suppression of IκB kinase/nuclear factor‐κB and mitogen‐activated protein kinase‐dependent pathways. CONCLUSION: Myricetin has novel immunopharmacological activity, and modulation of DCs by myricetin may be an attractive strategy for the treatment of inflammatory and autoimmune disorders, and for transplantation. Evidence for a toughening contribution from domain switching, a deformation mode akin to twinning, has been sought in uniaxial tension and compression, biaxial compression, and on the fracture surfaces of several tetragonal zirconia polycrystalline (TZP) ceramics. Only in biaxial compression was domain switching found. In other cases, textures of both the tetragonal and monoclinic phases were due to stress coupling with transformation shear strain. The lower bound of the critical stress for domain switching is placed at the bend strength of TZP, which can exceed 1000 MPa. Although thermal activation may lower the critical stress sharply, at lower temperatures, domain switching is not likely to be an important toughening mechanism.  相似文献

High-quality quaternary ZnSTeSe epitaxial layers were successfully grown by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). It was found that a ZnS0.18 Se0.82 layer was automatically formed in between the ZnSe buffer layer, and the ZnS0.17Te0.08Se0.75 epitaxial layer, when we increased the ZnS cell temperature. ZnSTeSe metal-semiconductor-metal (MSM) photodetectors were also fabricated for the first time. It was found that we could achieve a photocurrent to dark current contrast higher than five orders of magnitude by applying a 10-V reverse bias. We also found that the maximum photoresponsivity is about 0.4 A/W under a 10-V reverse bias. Such a value suggests that the ZnSTeSe MSM photodetector is potentially useful in the blue-UV spectral region  相似文献
