This work introduces a novel mathematical model of the stresses around the tip of a fatigue crack, which considers the effects
of plasticity through an analysis of their shielding effects on the applied elastic field. The ability of the model to characterize
plasticity-induced effects of cyclic loading on the elastic stress fields is assessed and demonstrated using full-field photoelasticity.
The focus is on determining the form of the shielding stress components (induced by compatibility requirements at the elastic–plastic
interface along the crack flank and via the crack tip plastic zone) and how they influence the crack tip elastic stress fields
during a load cycle. The model is successfully applied to the analysis of a fatigue crack growing in a polycarbonate CT specimen. 相似文献

Using semantic dementia (SD) as a reference point, the authors assessed semantic memory in four other neurodegenerative disorders: progressive nonfluent aphasia (PNFA), frontal variant frontotemporal dementia (fvFTD), Alzheimer's disease (AD), and posterior cortical atrophy (PCA). Individuals with SD were more impaired than other groups on semantic measures and showed a characteristic pattern across tasks: category fluency (CF) worse than letter fluency (LF), naming worse than comprehension, and visual and verbal comprehension equally affected, suggesting disruption to an amodal semantic system. Individuals with AD demonstrated a similar pattern to a milder degree. Although PNFA, fvFTD, and PCA groups had abnormal scores (relative to controls) on most semantic measures, their differing patterns across measures indicate that the apparent semantic impairment in these conditions is largely secondary to other factors. Stereological measurements were performed to characterize the indentation crack path in a cubic zirconia-10 vol% alumina (c-ZrO2 -10 vol% Al2 O3 ) composite. Cracks were generated using Vickers indentation, and the crack propagation behavior was characterized as a function of the indentation loading/unloading rates. Cracks that were produced by Vickers indentation formed at higher crack velocities as the loading/unloading rates increased. The amount of contact between the crack and the Al2 O3 particles increased as the indentation rate decreased. The total number of crack-particle interactions per unit crack length also increased as the indentation rate decreased, because of an increase in the number of particles that were fractured per unit crack length, whereas the number of particles that were debonded remained relatively constant as the indentation rate changed. These results suggest that residual thermal mismatch stresses have predominant control of the crack path at lower crack velocities (low indentation loading/unloading rate), whereas elastic mismatch stresses predominate at higher crack velocities (high indentation loading/unloading rate). 相似文献

This paper expounds a revised characterisation of the elastic stresses ahead of a crack tip in polycarbonate which takes account of the elastic–plastic boundary stresses induced by the presence of the crazed region that surrounds a crack. The advanced experimental techniques used in this work have provided insights into fractography, identification of the crazed region and location of the crack tip position (using confocal laser scanning microscopy and scanning electron microscopy). In addition, the four-parameter model of crack tip stresses has led to modified definitions for crack tip stress intensity factors which explicitly account for craze-induced shielding effects on the fatigue crack growth rate in polycarbonate. The lead‐free (1?x)Ba(Zr0.2Ti0.8)O3‐x(Ba0.7Ca0.3)TiO3 system is considered as promising candidate for the replacement of lead‐based piezoceramics in actuation applications, during which electric fatigue is a major concern. This issue was addressed in this work, where the unipolar fatigue resistance of three (1?x)Ba(Zr0.2Ti0.8)O3‐x(Ba0.7Ca0.3)TiO3 compositions with different crystallographic structures (rhombohedral, orthorhombic, and tetragonal) was evaluated. Strain asymmetry and development of an internal bias field were observed in all compositions. The decrease in the remanent polarization and the large signal piezoelectric coefficient after 107 unipolar cycles was found to lie between 6%‐12% and 2%‐13%, respectively. The most pronounced fatigue was observed for the orthorhombic composition, which has the largest extrinsic contribution to strain. On the other hand, the best fatigue resistance was observed for the tetragonal composition, which has a predominantly intrinsic strain response. The correlation of fatigue resistance with strain mechanism was corroborated with determination of the Rayleigh parameters and changes in the domain morphology after cycling as confirmed by piezoresponse force microscopy. 相似文献

Optimal loading and operating conditions for a new, superior immobilization of amano lipase from Pseudomonas fluorescens on woolen cloth were determined. The optimal enzyme loading was 46.8 mg g dry cloth−1 with activity of 200 U. A batch reactor was used to characterize process conditions important to industrial application of the wool immobilized lipase. The optimal pH for immobilized lipase in tributyrin hydrolysis was 7, slightly lower than that of free lipase (pH 8). The optimal temperature for both free and immobilized lipase was 45 °C. The immobilized lipase was more stable to reuse than some other lipase immobilizations, maintaining 85% of its activity after 6 long term runs and 75.8% of the original activity after storage of 40 weeks at 4 °C. The thermal stability of lipase was improved by 2.4 times after immobilization. The thermal deactivation rate of immobilized lipase followed the Arrhenius law with Ed = 199 kJ mol−1. The Michaelis–Menten constant (Km) of the lipase increased from 1.63 mM to 4.48 mM after immobilization. The immobilized lipase was also successfully applied for tributyrin hydrolysis in a novel enzyme process intensification technology – the spinning cloth disc reactor (SCDR): conversion increased by around 13% under similar conditions compared to a conventional batch stirred tank reactor. The SCDR is therefore key to exploiting the advantages of the wool immobilized lipase developed in this work. 相似文献

Thirty two analogues of phencyclidine were synthesised and tested as inhibitors of trypanothione reductase (TryR), a potential drug target in trypanosome and leishmania parasites. The lead compound BTCP ( 1 , 1‐(1‐benzo[b]thiophen‐2‐yl‐cyclohexyl) piperidine) was found to be a competitive inhibitor of the enzyme (Ki=1 μM ) and biologically active against bloodstream T. brucei (EC50=10 μM ), but with poor selectivity against mammalian MRC5 cells (EC50=29 μM ). Analogues with improved enzymatic and biological activity were obtained. The structure–activity relationships of this novel series are discussed. 相似文献
