Building envelopes with bio-materials like hemp concrete are currently undergoing an increasing development due to their low environmental impact and their interesting hygrothermal properties. This kind of hygroscopic material is characterized by a hysteretic behaviour. In this paper, the influence of such behaviour on the hygrothermal response of a building wall is discussed. An experimental facility is designed to measure temperature and relative humidity within a hemp concrete wall submitted to climatic variations. This facility provides a set of experimental data suited for benchmarking. Numerical simulations are performed with a hysteresis model implemented in a heat and moisture transfer model. Comparisons between numerical and experimental results show that hysteresis modelling is relevant to simulate the hygrothermal response of the wall. The discussion is extended to the influence of the initial moisture content.  相似文献

Sonar image segmentation using an unsupervised hierarchical MRFmodel   总被引:14,自引:0,他引:14  
This paper is concerned with hierarchical Markov random field (MRP) models and their application to sonar image segmentation. We present an original hierarchical segmentation procedure devoted to images given by a high-resolution sonar. The sonar image is segmented into two kinds of regions: shadow (corresponding to a lack of acoustic reverberation behind each object lying on the sea-bed) and sea-bottom reverberation. The proposed unsupervised scheme takes into account the variety of the laws in the distribution mixture of a sonar image, and it estimates both the parameters of noise distributions and the parameters of the Markovian prior. For the estimation step, we use an iterative technique which combines a maximum likelihood approach (for noise model parameters) with a least-squares method (for MRF-based prior). In order to model more precisely the local and global characteristics of image content at different scales, we introduce a hierarchical model involving a pyramidal label field. It combines coarse-to-fine causal interactions with a spatial neighborhood structure. This new method of segmentation, called the scale causal multigrid (SCM) algorithm, has been successfully applied to real sonar images and seems to be well suited to the segmentation of very noisy images. The experiments reported in this paper demonstrate that the discussed method performs better than other hierarchical schemes for sonar image segmentation.  相似文献

To test the hypothesis of temporal modifications of cochlear responses when medial efferents are activated, otoacoustic emission latencies were estimated in 16 normal human subjects, in the presence and absence of a contralateral broadband noise, using measurements of the phase of the 2f1-f2 distortion product (group latency method). Significant decrease in the latency of lower frequency (0.8-2.7 kHz) emissions was found in the presence of increasing levels of contralateral sound, and this effect disappeared when the primary-tone levels increased to 60 dB SPL. To ensure that effects were not attributable to mechanisms involving middle ear structures, susceptible to activation by contralateral sound, latency measures were performed in seven subjects whose efferents were severed during a vestibular neurotomy and in two subjects with paralyzed stapedial muscle. Results in patients were compared to those obtained in three surgical control patients with intact efferent bundle, and in eight other normal subjects. All the subject groups exhibited a decrease in latency under contralateral sound except the patients with the severed efferent system who showed increased latencies.  相似文献

When incubated with their substrates, human phosphomannomutase and L-3-phosphoserine phosphatase are known to form phosphoenzymes with chemical characteristics of an acyl-phosphate. The phosphorylated residue in phosphomannomutase has now been identified by mass spectrometry after reduction of the phosphoenzyme with tritiated borohydride and trypsin digestion. It is the first aspartate in a conserved DVDGT motif. Replacement of either aspartate of this motif by asparagine or glutamate resulted in complete inactivation of the enzyme. The same mutations performed in the DXDST motif of L-3-phosphoserine phosphatase also resulted in complete inactivation of the enzyme, except for the replacement of the second aspartate by glutamate, which reduced the activity by only about 40%. This suggests that the first aspartate of the motif is also the phosphorylated residue in L-3-phosphoserine phosphatase. Data banks contained seven other phosphomutases or phosphatases sharing a similar, totally conserved DXDX(T/V) motif at their amino terminus. One of these (beta-phosphoglucomutase) is shown to form a phosphoenzyme with the characteristics of an acyl-phosphate. In conclusion, phosphomannomutase and L-3-phosphoserine phosphatase belong to a new phosphotransferase family with an amino-terminal DXDX(T/V) motif that serves as an intermediate phosphoryl acceptor.  相似文献

Mutation in the Caenorhabditis elegans gene osm-6 was previously shown to result in defects in the ultrastructure of sensory cilia and defects in chemosensory and mechanosensory behaviors. We have cloned osm-6 by transposon tagging and transformation rescue and have identified molecular lesions associated with five osm-6 mutations. The osm-6 gene encodes a protein that is 40% identical in amino acid sequence to a predicted mammalian protein of unknown function. We fused osm-6 with the gene for green fluorescent protein (GFP); the fusion gene rescued the osm-6 mutant phenotype and showed accumulation of GFP in ciliated sensory neurons exclusively. The OSM-6::GFP protein was localized to cytoplasm, including processes and dendritic endings where sensory cilia are situated. Mutations in other genes known to cause ciliary defects led to changes in the appearance of OSM-6::GFP in dendritic endings or, in the case of daf-19, reduced OSM-6::GFP accumulation. We conclude from an analysis of genetic mosaics that osm-6 acts cell autonomously in affecting cilium structure.  相似文献

Artificial connective soft tissue, so-called Elastin-Fibrin biomaterial, was investigated to reinforce a pancreato-jejunum anastomosis in the dog. The ambiguous results invite us, however, to improve the quality of the material, especially against proteolytic degradation: elastinolysis and fibrinolysis. Antibiotic was also added. The improved material was tested, first in rabbit then in dog, to repair a large loss of substance in the duodenum, just in front of the Wirsung duct. In view of the successful results, we are now attempting an evaluation in humans, for all indications throughout the digestive system.  相似文献

How to assess mental load remains a recurrent question. We aimed to explore whether slight differences in real-world driving task demands could be discriminated by electrodermal response (EDR). A sample of 33 participants was observed under five conditions: controlled braking from 50 to 30 km/h, 80 to 50 km/h, 50 to 0 km/h, 80 to 0 km/h, and a single unexpected emergency braking event from 80 to 0 km/h. The likelihood of EDR and, whenever present, its duration were both correlated with workload as represented by the deceleration demand. A higher base travel speed and the unexpected demand of the emergency braking situation impacted EDR, thus attesting higher workload level. EDR explains why stopping the vehicle from 50 km/h and slowing down from 80 to 50 km/h was of similar strain. The results further demonstrate that EDR measures can be successfully employed to discriminate multiple levels of workload.

Practitioner Summary: Common braking elicited different loads as revealed by electrodermal response (EDR) with sensitivity to deceleration of ? 0.2 g. Even the slightest braking elicited a strain measurable with EDR. Accordingly, EDR may objectively assess the resulting strain during driving, with enhanced reliability if associated with other variables, e.g. cardiac activity.  相似文献

Mastication of natural rubber (NR) is undertaken as a preliminary step towards the preparation of NR‐based vulcanizates, a process during which the elastomer is broken down to a homogeneous matrix of lower viscosity. Several tests and indicators are in use for characterizing the behavior of elastomers but these have mostly been adopted for the nonmasticated product. This study uses coefficients generated from modeled Mooney relaxation data, as indicators of elasticity, to examine the effect of high‐temperature mastication on the processability of the masticated rubber. Some derived coefficients such as the terminal relaxation time (τ) from Maxwell's triexponential model, the elastic component (a) from Wu‐Abbott model [Y = 1 + a* ln(t) ? bt/(c + t)], and the constant (b) from the Power law model (Y = at?b), adequately characterized the effect of mastication on NR. Although the NR grades studied were quite different with respect to their initial molar mass distributions, they followed a similar response to the mechanical models before and after mastication, indicating therefore that mastication decomposes to a similar extent, the various components (long isoprene chains, densely crosslinked solvent‐insoluble gel, etc.) that account for the viscoelastic behavior of the raw elastomer. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
