Since 2012, a long-term in situ corrosion experiment (IC-A) is being conducted in the Mont Terri Underground Research Laboratory in Switzerland to investigate the corrosion behaviour of candidate canister materials in conditions representative of the Swiss concept for the disposal of high-level waste and spent nuclear fuel. To date, carbon steel and various types of copper coatings have been retrieved after different exposure periods of up to 3 years, and characterised to establish the composition of the corrosion product, the morphology of the corroded surface, the nature of the interaction between the metal and the surrounding bentonite, and the microbial populations in the bentonite and surrounding porewater. For carbon steel specimens, a complex corrosion product was identified, consisting predominantly of magnetite. Much less alteration on either the metal or the bentonite was observed in the case of copper samples. Low average anaerobic corrosion rates were measured for carbon steel and a very modest amount of alteration was identified on copper. The density and the initial form of the bentonite had a small influence on the rate of corrosion, across all materials. This paper summarises the results of the experimental programme obtained to date and discusses the relationship observed between exposure time and the evolution of the metal–bentonite interface for both carbon steel and copper. 相似文献

Transparent and homogeneous tantalum phosphate glasses were prepared in the binary system (100-x)NaPO3-xTa2O5 with x varying from 10 to 50 mol%. Thermal, structural, and optical properties, as well as crystallization mechanisms, were investigated by thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and Raman spectroscopies, optical absorption, transmission electron microscopy in terms of Ta2O5 content. FTIR and Raman results support the tantalum insertion in the phosphate chains with [TaO6] polyhedra cross-linking the phosphate units. At higher Ta2O5 content, [TaO6] clusters are formed and connected to the phosphate network by P-O-Ta bonds. This structural evolution is in good agreement with the thermal features measured by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) with a strong increase of the Tg temperatures up to 920°C, high thermal stability against crystallization for low Ta2O5 content and increasing of crystallization tendency for the most Ta-concentrated samples. Besides, due to the progressive insertion of [TaO6] units, the precipitation of Na2Ta8O21 perovskite-like phase was identified in the sample with 50 mol% of Ta2O5. The optimal heat treatment conditions were identified using DSC measurements and a transparent glass-ceramic from 50NaPO3 to 50Ta2O5 composition was prepared. The obtaines glass-ceramic has great potential for optical applications, such as host for rare-earth ions, nonlinear optical materials, and ferroelectric domain. 相似文献

The contribution to the tunneling current of a Josephson junction from the Two-particle tunneling, to the 2nd order approximation in the barrier transparency, is investigated. Expressions for the current onset amplitudes corresponding to eV = 1,2 are given together with the full expressions for the voltage and the temperature dependencies of the two-particles current. The theory has ben developed to take also into account corrections due to depairing mechanisms, which lead to the smearing of the current singularities. Introducing a depairing parameter , which accounts for the probability of these processes, I–V curves in the voltage region of the onset of single and two particle current are obtained. It is shown that, though having the same functional dependence, spreading occurs over a voltage range of different widths. In particular, it is shown that the width of the single-particle structure is twice larger the one for the two-particle. A careful investigation of the I–V curves in the region 2 -eV is presented and some aspects of the interesting voltage region near ¦1-2¦ is discussed. 相似文献
