Force modulation microscopy (FMM) is used to characterize the external surface and internal fracture surface morphologies of three different block copolymer samples. A roll-cast poly(styrene-butadiene-styrene) triblock copolymer film, spin-coated poly(styrene-b-methyl methacrylate) thin films, and an ultrathin poly(styrene-b-hexyl isocyanate) rod-coil block copolymer film were investigated. For each sample, height and elasticity images were obtained for the same areas allowing direct comparison. The elasticity images obtained using force modulation microscopy were independent of surface roughness and found to exhibit better contrast and spatial resolution of the respective block copolymer domains than the height images. The lateral resolution of the elasticity images was sufficient to show microphase separated domains having length scales as small as about 10 nm. The poly(styrene-b-methyl methacrylate) samples demonstrate that FMM can even be successfully used to study block copolymers in which both blocks are glassy under the conditions of measurement.  相似文献

Low-energy electron diffraction (LEED), Auger electron spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) investigations of both the growth of an iron film on silicon (100) at room temperature and the subsequent formation of iron silicide are the subjects of this paper. An in-situ cleaned silicon (100) wafer without carbon or oxygen contamination exhibiting the known 2 × 1 reconstruction in the LEED pattern served as the substrate. Iron was deposited on this reconstructed surface at 300 K. The comparison of theoretical calculations based on three growth mechanisms with XPS data obtained with take-off angles of 0° and 50° clearly demonstrates a layer-by-layer growth of the iron film on silicon (100). At 300 K no formation of iron silicide was observed, although an interaction between iron and silicon could be detected at the interface. The formation of iron silicide was observed at annealing temperatures of 630–730 K. Quantitative XPS analysis yields the presence of FeSi2, when the thickness is large enough. Neither the iron film on silicon nor the silicide shows any LEED pattern.  相似文献

The analysis of the behaviour of composite laminates with general balanced lay-up sequences and containing distributed transverse cracks is discussed and demonstrated in this paper. It is shown that a constitutive model of damage for composites, which has been successfully used to analyse the effects of uniformly distributed transverse cracks in cross-ply laminates, can be readily extended to the analysis of uniformly distributed transverse cracks in more general symmetric laminates. The further extension of the theory to non-uniformly distributed damage can be achieved by finite element analysis. It is shown that the finite element implementation of the theory is particularly simple since the contribution of the damage to the overall behaviour can be incorporated into the force vectors.  相似文献

This paper describes a fully integrated digital-spread spectrum transceiver chip fabricated through MOSIS in 1.2 μm CMOS. It includes a baseband spread spectrum transmitter and a coherent intermediate frequency (IF) receiver consisting of a Costas loop, an acquisition loop for the pseudo-noise (PN) sequence, and a clock recovery loop with a 406.4 MHz onchip numerically controlled oscillator (NCO). The transceiver is capable of operating at a maximum IF sampling rate of 50.8 MS/s and a maximum chip rate of 12.7 R Mchips/s (Mcps) with selectable data rates of 100, 200, 400, and 800 kbps. At the maximum operating speed of 50.8 R MS/s, it dissipates 1.1 W. In an additive white Gaussian noise channel the IF receiver achieves a receiver output SNR within 1 dB of theory and can acquire code with a wide range of input SNR from -17 dB to over 30 dB. The transceiver chip has been interfaced to an RF up/down converter to demonstrate a wireless voice/data/video link operating in the 902-928 MHz band  相似文献

1. 45 myopes (-3.0 to -6.0 D) were examined before and 1 and 6 months after photorefractive keratectomy (PRK). Visual acuity (VA) was tested using Snellen and logMAR charts. Contrast sensitivity (CS) was measured using a computerized system. 2. Preoperative best corrected VA (BCVA) in myopes was significantly lower in comparison with a control group using logMAR charts only. A reduction of BCVA by both methods at 1. month and its return after 6 months nearly to original values was noted. 3. Significantly lower values of CS were found in patients before PRK compared to the control group. After 1 and 6 months stayed the values on preoperative level.  相似文献

A new method is presented to analyze reflection losses of integrated mirrors, taking into account the exact guided mode profile and assuming that this profile remains unchanged up to the reflecting plane. The fraction of the reflected light coupled to one of the guided modes of the output waveguide is calculated, taking into account the mirror reflection coefficient. The influence of both translation and tilt of the reflecting plane is investigated. The method applies for every guided mode and any reflection angles. The parameters of Bi12TiO20 crystals grown with bismuth oxide of different degrees of purity were measured by a holographic recording technique in an external ac electric field and were compared with a crystal specially doped with chromium. Various crystal parameters such as the diffusion length of the photoexcited carriers and the Debye screening length were determined. It was found that the absorption spectrum of the material and the holographic recording efficiency were strongly influenced by light chromium doping and by insufficient purity of the starting mixture. Nuclear magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), calorimetry, and temperature measurements were used to monitor cylindrical potato sections frozen at -11C and -42C. MRI showed the advance of the nonsymmetric freezing zone and loss of signal intensity as liquid water turned to ice. Differential calorimetry was used to follow heat removal during transient freezing. Measured times to 95% enthalpy change were 24 min (-42C) and 49 min (-11C), as compared to modeled values of 29 min (-42C) and 100 min (-11C). Times to 95% change in the NMR signal, integrated over the area of the image, were 21 min (-42C) and 56 min (-11C). Changes in NMR signal intensity could be correlated with the amount of unfrozen water remaining after a steady-state had been reached. At -42C, NMR indicated 25% unfrozen water remaining as compared to 26% by calorimetry, and 22% by modeling. At -11C, NMR measured 67% unfrozen water remaining as compared to 48% by calorimetry, and 25% by equilibrium modeling.  相似文献

A total of 232 strains from nine species ofLactobacillusisolated from sourdoughs were screened for antagonistic activity against sourdough-related micro-organisms. Seventy-seven strains on agar medium and 52 in culture supernatants, re-adjusted to pH 6.5 and catalase-treated, showed antagonistic activity. The activities were species and strain specific showing different spectra of inhibition against sourdough lactobacilli. All the strains were inhibitory toBacillus subtilisbut not against sourdough yeasts and moulds.Lactobacillus sanfranciscoandLactobacillus plantarumstrains had the largest inhibitory spectrum. All the antimicrobial compounds produced from strains of different species contained a protein moiety and were differently sensitive to different proteinases. A bacteriocin-like inhibitory substance, which was heat-stable (100°C for 20 min), insensitive to lipase and α-amylase, of a protein nature, with an inhibitory spectrum centred about lactic acid bacteria and a bactericidal or bacteriolytic mode of action was isolated fromLb. sanfranciscoC57. The antimicrobial substance also inhibitedListeria monocytogenes, and was mainly produced in the stationary phase of growth and at pH 4.0–5.0.Lb. sanfranciscoC57 variants, which did not contain the nativec. 17 kbp plasmid, maintained their antagonistic activity, therefore, the gene encoding for the bacteriocin-like inhibitory substance fromLb. sanfranciscoC57 is chromosomally located.  相似文献
