The European grapevine moth (EGVM),Lobesia botrana, is a major pest of grapes in Europe. Females are attracted to a nonhost plant: tansy (Tanacetum vulgare L.), which is a common weed in Slovakian vineyards. A steam distillate extract of tansy flowers was analyzed by means of a GC-EAG technique to screen constituents detected by the olfactory receptors of EGVM females. From more than 200 GC peaks, nine peaks corresponding to monoterpenoids released an EAG response in more than 70% of the females (N=15):p-cymene,d-limonene,-thujene,-thujone,-thujone, thujyl alcohol, terpinene-4-ol, (Z)-verbenol, and piperitone. The steam distillate of tansy as well as a synthetic blend of identified compounds released consistent attraction in a field cage. The use of nonhost plants and host plant odors in integrated pest management is discussed.  相似文献

The transport of gellan gum microbeads as potential cell carriers was investigated in horizontal columns packed with different grain size classes of gravel (2–16 mm) and sand (0.25–2 mm). A suspension of microbeads was pulsed into each column for 6 h, followed by injection of water for 42 h. In general, the total amount of microbeads travelling across a given section of the column increased with injection time but decreased towards the column outlet, varying as a direct function of grain size. The results of this study demonstrate the feasibility of the transport of gellan gum microbeads through medium sand to medium gravel across distances up to 110 cm.  相似文献

The described computational experiment focuses on producing a controlled catalyst activity distribution. Using TAP technique, the activity profile on the solid catalytic material surface is created by adsorption of pulsed feed gas or the like process and is controlled by the total amount of pulsed gas following the coincidence property. The aim of this study is to develop chitosan‐based adhesives and to characterize their shear strength. The desirable features of such adhesives are biodegradability, biocompatibility, non‐toxicity, and anti‐microbial properties. Various eco‐friendly polyanionic polysaccharides, acids, and plasticizers, in single or multiple formulations, were associated with chitosan. The resulting crosslinked polymers were glued on some chemically treated aluminum adherends. The shear strength of these formulations was measured with the “double lap‐joint” bonding method, as it features a low‐peeling effect. The shear strength of 40.8 MPa obtained for formulations containing chitosan and glycerol plasticizer was the most significant finding in this study. The synthesis and characterization of a series of poly(siloxane–imide) block (or segmented) copolymers obtained by copolymerization of amine‐terminated polydimethylsiloxane with fluorinated aromatic compounds containing anhydride and amine functionality are reported. New fluorinated block copolymers have been synthesized to obtain organophilic polyimides potentially interesting for molecular membrane separations. The new aspects of this work relative to the literature are (1) a comparison of solution and solid‐state approaches in the imidization step to generate the target poly(siloxane–imide) copolymers and (2) exploration of new compositions involving fluorinated aromatic polymers derived from added diamine compounds. It is shown that the copolymer properties can be tailored from glassy to rubbery materials by varying the amount and the type of oligosiloxane used; the transition between glassy and rubbery properties is characterized at a siloxane content of 60 wt%. As a main result, it is shown that the solid‐state approach for inducing the cyclo‐imidization step is the more efficient one for synthesizing polymers with good mechanical properties, when the amount of siloxane block is increased in the copolymer series. Physical and chemical methods (thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, viscosity measurements) were used to characterize the copolymer properties obtained according to the two different synthesis routes. The obtained siloxane–imide copolymers are well soluble in a large variety of moderately polar solvents and exhibit very good thermal stability up to 400 °C. Hence the prepared copolyimides would seem to be promising candidates as organophilic membranes as well as gas permeation membranes. © 2012 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

While now recognized as an aid to predict repeat prostate biopsy outcome, the urinary PCA3 (prostate cancer gene 3) test has also been recently advocated to predict initial biopsy results. The objective is to evaluate the performance of the PCA3 test in predicting results of initial prostate biopsies and to determine whether its incorporation into specific nomograms reinforces its diagnostic value. A prospective study included 601 consecutive patients addressed for initial prostate biopsy. The PCA3 test was performed before ≥12-core initial prostate biopsy, along with standard risk factor assessment. Diagnostic performance of the PCA3 test was evaluated. The three available nomograms (Hansen’s and Chun’s nomograms, as well as the updated Prostate Cancer Prevention Trial risk calculator; PCPT) were applied to the cohort, and their predictive accuracies were assessed in terms of biopsy outcome: the presence of any prostate cancer (PCa) and high-grade prostate cancer (HGPCa). The PCA3 score provided significant predictive accuracy. While the PCPT risk calculator appeared less accurate; both Chun’s and Hansen’s nomograms provided good calibration and high net benefit on decision curve analyses. When applying nomogram-derived PCa probability thresholds ≤30%, ≤6% of HGPCa would have been missed, while avoiding up to 48% of unnecessary biopsies. The urinary PCA3 test and PCA3-incorporating nomograms can be considered as reliable tools to aid in the initial biopsy decision.  相似文献

Bacteria belonging to the Pectobacterium genus are the causative agents of the blackleg and soft-rot diseases that affect potato plants and tubers worldwide. In Pectobacterium, the expression of the virulence genes is controlled by quorum-sensing (QS) and N-acylhomoserine lactones (AHLs). In this work, we screened a chemical library of QS-inhibitors (QSIs) and AHL-analogs to find novel QSIs targeting the virulence of Pectobacterium. Four N,N′-bisalkylated imidazolium salts were identified as QSIs; they were active at the μM range. In potato tuber assays, two of them were able to decrease the severity of the symptoms provoked by P. atrosepticum. This work extends the range of the QSIs acting on the Pectobacterium-induced soft-rot disease.  相似文献

The main difficulty still encountered in the elaboration of polymer/silica nanocomposites is the control of the nanoparticles dispersion homogeneity and the stability of the nanoparticle dispersion in the surrounding substance. The innovative point of this work is the elaboration of hybrid networks in aqueous solution performed with ASE (alkali swellable emulsion) thickeners grafted with silica nanoparticles. The thickening ability of the polymer should favour silica nanoparticles dispersion in fluid matrices. Two ASE copolymers were realised by copolymerisation in emulsion of MA (methacrylic acid) and EA (ethyl acrylate) and/or TFEM (trifluoroethyl methacrylate). The substitution of a part of EA by TFEM gave fluorinated ASE copolymers. Their free acid functions were then coupled with different ratio of amine functionalized silica nanoparticles to afford nanocomposites. The amounts of silica nanoparticles in the copolymers were determined by thermogravimetric experiments. Depending on the silica nanoparticles/copolymer ratio in basic aqueous solutions we achieved stable translucent gel like aqueous suspensions of silica nanoparticles containing 1 wt.% of the polymer/SiO2 nanocomposite.  相似文献

A theoretical analysis is provided of the continuity of multiphase compositional space parameterization for thermal‐compositional reservoir simulation. It is shown that the tie‐simplex space changes continuously as a function of composition, pressure, and temperature, and this justifies the Compositional Space Adaptive Tabulation (CSAT) framework, in which a discrete number of tie‐simplexes are constructed, tabulated, and reused in the course of a simulation. The CSAT is extended for thermal‐compositional displacements for mixtures that can form an arbitrary number of phases. In particular, the construction is described of three‐phase tie‐simplex tables, and it is shown how the degeneration of multiphase regions can be accurately captured over wide ranges of temperature and pressure. Several challenging multiphase examples are used to demonstrate the accuracy and effectiveness of phase‐state identification using tabulated tie‐simplexes. © 2012 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 59: 1684–1701, 2013  相似文献

A two dimensional model of bread baking was developed including, for the first time, the dependence of dough viscosity on both temperature and moisture content, the carbon dioxide dissolved from liquid water together with gas generation from yeast at the beginning of baking and the shrinkage due to dough drying. Particular attention was paid to experimental validation of both overall and local variables such as local temperature, overall mass loss, and local moisture content, overall CO2 released into the oven, and overall deformation and local expansion or shrinkage.
