We have studied the photoluminescence and Raman spectra of a system consisting of a polystyrene latex microsphere coated by CdTe colloidal quantum dots. The cavity-induced enhancement of the Raman scattering allows the observation of Raman spectra from only a monolayer of CdTe quantum dots. Periodic structure with very narrow peaks in the photoluminescence spectra of a single microsphere was detected both in the Stokes and anti-Stokes spectral regions, arising from the coupling between the emission of quantum dots and spherical cavity modes.  相似文献

Near‐infrared (NIR)‐absorbing metal‐based nanomaterials have shown tremendous potential for cancer therapy, given their facile and controllable synthesis, efficient photothermal conversion, capability of spatiotemporal‐controlled drug delivery, and intrinsic imaging function. Tantalum (Ta) is among the most biocompatible metals and arouses negligible adverse biological responses in either oxidized or reduced forms, and thus Ta‐derived nanomaterials represent promising candidates for biomedical applications. However, Ta‐based nanomaterials by themselves have not been explored for NIR‐mediated photothermal ablation therapy. In this work, an innovative Ta‐based multifunctional nanoplatform composed of biocompatible tantalum sulfide (TaS2) nanosheets (NSs) is reported for simultaneous NIR hyperthermia, drug delivery, and computed tomography (CT) imaging. The TaS2 NSs exhibit multiple unique features including (i) efficient NIR light‐to‐heat conversion with a high photothermal conversion efficiency of 39%, (ii) high drug loading (177% by weight), (iii) controlled drug release triggered by NIR light and moderate acidic pH, (iv) high tumor accumulation via heat‐enhanced tumor vascular permeability, (v) complete tumor ablation and negligible side effects, and (vi) comparable CT imaging contrast efficiency to the widely clinically used agent iobitridol. It is expected that this multifunctional NS platform can serve as a promising candidate for imaging‐guided cancer therapy and selection of cancer patients with high tumor accumulation.  相似文献

Activated carbon honeycomb-monoliths with different textural properties were prepared by chemical activation of African palm shells with H(3)PO(4), ZnCl(2) and CaCl(2) aqueous solutions of various concentrations. The adsorbents obtained were characterized by N(2) adsorption at 77 K, and their carbon dioxide adsorption capacities were measured at 273 K and 1 Bar in volumetric adsorption equipment. The experimental adsorption isotherms were fitted to Langmuir and Tóth models, and a better fit was observed to Tóth equation with a correlation coefficient of 0.999. The maximum experimental values for adsorption capacity at the highest pressure (2.627-5.756 mmol·g(-1)) are between the calculated data in the two models.  相似文献

Iopromide (an X-ray contrast agent) and trimethoprim (an antibacterial drug) are frequently detected pharmaceuticals in effluents of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) and in surface waters due to their persistence and high usage. Laboratory-scale experiments showed that a significantly higher removal rate in nitrifying activated sludge as compared to conventional activated sludge was observed for both iopromide and trimethoprim. When the activity of the nitrifying bacteria was inhibited, the percent removal of iopromide decreased from 97 to 86% while trimethoprim removal decreased from 70 to 25%. The metabolite of iopromide identified when nitrification was not inhibited was a dehydroxylated iopromide at the two side chains. However, when the nitrifying bacteria were inhibited the metabolite identified was a carboxylate, formed during the oxidation of the primary alcohol on the side chain of iopromide. These results suggest that the nitrifying bacteria are important in the observed biodegradation of iopromide in the activated sludge with higher solid retention time (SRT). Results from the laboratory-scale study were corroborated by the observed removal efficiencies in a full-scale municipal WWTP, which showed that iopromide (ranging from 0.10 to 0.27 microg/L) and trimethoprim (ranging from 0.0.08 to 0.53 microg/L) were removed more effectively in the nitrifying activate sludge which has a higher SRT (49 days) than in the conventional activated sludge (SRT of 6 days). In nitrifying activated sludge, the percent removal of iopromide in the WWTP reached 61%, while in conventional activated sludge, average removal was negligible. For trimethoprim, removal was limited to about 1% in the conventional activated sludge, while in the nitrifying activated sludge, the removal was increased to 50%.  相似文献

Identification of degradation products of environmental contaminants is a challenging task because not only are they present in very low concentrations but they are also mixed with complex matrixes that interfere with detection. This work illustrates a simple approach using ion trap mass spectrometry combined with H/D-exchange experiments to elucidate the structures of iopromide metabolites formed during biodegradation in activated sludge. Iopromide is an X-ray contrast agent that has been detected frequently in effluents of wastewater treatment plants and in surface waters due to its persistence and high usage. Three metabolites produced by oxidation of the primary alcohols (forming carboxylates) on the side chains of iopromide were identified in a batch reactor with mixed liquor from a conventional activated sludge. Derivatization of the carboxylic acid to form a methyl ester and interpretation of the MS2 data of this derivative aided in the confirmation of the identities of these metabolites. Furthermore, one metabolite formed by dehydroxylation at the two side chains was identified in a batch reactor with mixed liquor from a nitrifying activated sludge. The MS2 fragmentation pattern of iopromide and its metabolites revealed that the iodinated ring remains intact and that minor transformations in the structure occur during biodegradation of iopromide in biological wastewater treatment plants.  相似文献

The reactions of Cl atoms and ClO radicals with CH3-SOCH3 (DMSO) have been studied using the discharge flow method with direct detection of DMSO, CO, and products by mass spectrometry. The absolute rate constant at room temperature measured for reaction 1, (CH3)2SO + Cl --> products, was k(1) = (1.7 +/- 0.3) x 10(-11) cm3 molecule(-1) s(-1). For reaction 2, (CH3)2SO + ClO --> products, only an upper limit could be established, k(2) < or = 6 x 10(-14) cm3 molecule(-1) s(-1) Reaction 1 has been found to proceed through adduct formation and further decomposition involving the cleavage of the C-S bound. The pressure effect on the Cl-DMSO reaction from 0.5 to 3 Torr was negligible, and the temperature dependence in the range 273-335 K was also very slight. The results obtained are related to previous studies of sulfur compounds, and the atmospheric implications are also discussed in relation to the homogeneous sinks of DMSO. Tropospheric lifetimes of DMSO based on average Cl and ClO concentrations and the measured rate constants have been calculated showing that the contribution of reaction 1 must be of minor relevance in the marine boundary layer. Reaction 2 is so slow that it does not play any role within the atmospheric sulfur chemistry.  相似文献

The effects of solution treatment time and Si content and morphology on microstructures and mechanical properties of heat-treated Al-Si-Mg cast alloys were investigated systematically. Five alloys, with Si levels ranging from 1 to 13 pct, were tested in as-cast, T4, and T61 conditions. The eutectic Si was both unmodified and Sr-modified. Results show that the microstructures are affected significantly by alloy composition, eutectic Si morphology, and solution treatment time. Si content has significant effects on ultimate tensile strength (UTS), yield strength (YS), and elongation as well as a strong influence on solution treatment response. In T61 treatment with different solutionizing times, UTS and YS reach their maximum values in ~1 hour of solutionizing followed by a decrease, then a slight increase, and finally, a plateau close to the maximum level. Elongation of alloys with a high Si content, 7 pct and 13 pct, increases rapidly at solutionizing times of 1 to 2 hours then varies in a wide range, showing improvements in the 4 to 10 hours range. The data indicate that a solution treatment time of ~1 hour is sufficient to achieve maximum strength. The changes in mechanical properties were correlated to changes in microstructure evolution—Mg-Si precipitation, Si particle fragmentation, and microstructure homogenization. Empirical models uniquely relating Si content to UTS and YS are given for T61 heat-treated alloys.  相似文献

This study evaluated the feasibility of using a solid waste from the leather industry as an adsorbent for removal of Cr(VI) and As(V) from aqueous media. The adsorbent material was characterized by chemical analyses, infrared spectroscopy, and scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) prior to reaction in order to assess its surface properties. Langmuir and Freundlich equations were used for analyzing the experimental data, which showed a better fit to the Langmuir model, thus suggesting a monolayer adsorption process in the surface of the adsorbent. The high amounts of Cr(VI)-133 mg g(-1) and As(V)-26 mg g(-1) adsorbed demonstrates the great potential for using this solid waste from the leather industry as a low-cost alternative to the traditionally used adsorbent materials.  相似文献

A fluorescent analogue of a previously synthesised N,N-chelated IrIII complex was prepared by coordination of the organic ligand to an extrinsic bis(2-phenylpyridine)iridium(III) fluorophore. This cyclometallated IrIII complex in itself displays good, micromolar activity against the chloroquine-sensitive NF54 strain of Plasmodium falciparum. Live-cell confocal microscopy found negligible localisation of the fluorescent complex within the digestive vacuole of the parasite. This eliminated the haem detoxification pathway as a potential mechanism of action. Similarly, no localisation of the complex within the parasitic nucleus was found, thus suggesting that this complex probably does not interfere with the DNA replication process. A substantial saturation of fluorescence from the complex was found near phospholipid structures such as the plasma and nuclear membranes but not in neutral lipid bodies. This indicates that an association with these membranes, or organelles such as the endoplasmic reticulum or branched mitochondrion, could be essential to the efficacies of these types of antimalarial compounds.  相似文献
