Silk fibroin (SF) hydrogels were obtained from the dialysis of a SF metastable solution. Temperature and calcium concentration in SF solution/hydrogel were measured, as critical variables for SF gelation phenomenon. Gelation time of SF solution was increased by decreasing the dialysis temperature, whereas the residual calcium concentration was higher when higher dialysis temperatures were applied. Hydrogels obtained at 20 °C were characterized after freeze-drying. SEM micrographs showed porous structures, of ca. 20 μm (in cross-sectional area) and 5 μm (on surface). XRD indicated the presence of a β-sheet structure that is formed during SF gelation. In hydrogel formation, SF molecules in solution are dehydrated and interact by intra and intermolecular hydrogen bonds, forming a stable hydrogel. DSC measurements showed the decomposition peak for SF at 290 °C, characteristic of SF β-sheet structure, which is in accordance with the XRD results and demonstrate its high thermal resistance. SF hydrogels were found not to be toxic to cells using in vitro cytotoxicity tests. Results indicate that silk fibroin hydrogels hold promise for use in the biomaterial field.  相似文献

The bioavailability of the anthelminthic flubendazole was remarkably enhanced in comparison with the pure crystalline drug by developing completely amorphous electrospun nanofibres with a matrix consisting of hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin and polyvinylpyrrolidone. The thus produced formulations can potentially be active against macrofilariae parasites causing tropical diseases, for example, river blindness and elephantiasis, which affect altogether more than a hundred million people worldwide. The bioavailability enhancement was based on the considerably improved dissolution. The release of a dose of 40?mg could be achieved within 15?min. Accordingly, administration of the nanofibrous system ensured an increased plasma concentration profile in rats in contrast to the practically non-absorbable crystalline flubendazole. Furthermore, easy-to-grind fibers could be developed, which enabled compression of easily administrable immediate release tablets.  相似文献

Three persistent common problems in satellite ground control software are obsolescence, lack of desired features and flexibilities, and endless software bug fixing. The obsolescence problem occurs when computer and ground equipment hardware become obsolete, usually after only one‐third into the satellite mission lifetime. The software needs to be updated to accommodate changes on the hardware side, requiring significant work of satellite operators to test, verify, and validate these software updates. Trying to help solve these problems, we have proposed an object‐process methodology model and guidelines for developing satellite ground control software. The system makes use of a database‐driven application and concepts of object‐process orientation and modularity. In the new proposed framework, instead of coding each software function separately, the common base functions will be coded, and combining them in various ways will provide the different required functions. The formation and combination of these base functions will be governed by the main code, definitions, and database parameters. These design principles will make sure that the new software framework would provide satellite operators with the flexibility to create new features and enable software developer to find bugs quicker and fix them more effectively. Metacognition, or ′thinking about thinking′, can improve scientific literacy and practices. It involves knowledge of cognition, i. e., being cognisant of one‘s knowledge, and regulation of cognition, i. e., consciously controlling the process of knowledge acquisition. A self‐regulated learner can assimilate new knowledge, conduct inquiry, solve problems and plan ahead his or her learning. While studies have been conducted on metacognition in chemistry education, none have included detailed assignments covering a range of metacognitive strategies. Our review of studies on metacognition in chemistry secondary and higher education also includes also several exemplary assignments on the energy topic for facilitating and assessing metacognition in high school classrooms. We use metacognitive prompts and the construct of chemistry understanding levels, macroscopic, microscopic, symbol, and process, as an approach for metacognitive intervention. Finally, we provide recommendations for educators and a rubric for researchers.  相似文献

The authors describe two cases of premacular hemorrhage secondary to retinal macroaneurysm, with significant loss of vision. A few low-energy bursts of ND:YAG laser were applied to perforate the anterior surface of the hemorrhage, subsequently draining the blood into the vitreous cavity. The blood gradually cleared from the vitreous, with restoration of good vision. Nd:YAG laser seems to be a safe and efficient method for treating premacular hemorrhage and should be considered as a therapeutic option.  相似文献

Despite a tradition in cognitive psychology that views encoding and retrieval processes in human memory as being similar, F. I. M. Craik, R. Govoni, M. Naveh-Benjamin and N. D. Anderson (1996) have recently shown that notable differences exist between the 2 when divided-attention manipulations are used. In this article, the authors further examined this asymmetry by using several manipulations that changed task demands at encoding and retrieval. The authors also used a secondary-task methodology that allowed a microlevel analysis of the secondary-task costs associated with encoding and retrieval. The results illustrated the resiliency of retrieval processes to manipulations involving different task demands. They also indicated different loci of attention demands at encoding and retrieval. The authors contend that whereas encoding processes are controlled, retrieval processes are obligatory but do require attentional resources for their execution.  相似文献
