Five multiparous, ruminally and duodenally cannulated Holstein cows were assigned to 5 × 5 Latin squares at wk 2 (experiment 1), wk 11 to 13 (experiment 2), and wk 17 to 19 postpartum (experiment 3) to determine extent of Met limitation. Treatments were duodenally infused and consisted of 10 g/d of l-Lys plus 0, 3.5, 7.0, 10.5, or 16.0 g/d of dl-Met in experiments 1 and 2 and 8 g/d of l-Lys plus 0, 5, 10, 15, or 20 g/d of dl-Met in experiment 3. Calculated Lys contributions to total AA (TAA) in duodenal digesta for control treatments were 8.6, 7.5, and 9.0% for experiments 1, 2, and 3, respectively. Methionine contributions to TAA for the 5 infusion treatments were 1.9, 2.1, 2.2, 2.4, and 2.7% for experiment 1; 2.1, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, and 2.7% for experiment 2; and 1.8, 2.0, 2.2, 2.4, and 2.5% for experiment 3, respectively. Milk protein yield increased linearly in experiments 1 and 2, indicating that Met contribution to TAA in duodenal digesta for maximal milk protein synthesis exceeded 2.7 for early-lactation cows. In experiment 2, a quadratic relationship was found between level of infused Met and milk protein content, with the response reaching a plateau when 12.2 g of Met was infused, corresponding with a Met contribution to TAA in duodenal digesta of 2.4%. In experiment 3, milk protein content increased quadratically, but milk yield declined linearly with increasing levels of infused Met; hence, milk protein yield was unaffected by treatment. The calculated plateau point of the milk protein content response curve was determined to be 12.4 g of infused Met, which corresponds to a Met contribution to TAA in duodenal digesta of 2.3%. Experiment 3 results indicate that the required level of Met in duodenal digesta for maximizing milk protein yield is lower than that required for maximizing milk protein content.  相似文献

The spontaneous contractions of isolated guinea pig atria were arrested by a temperature change in the medium for 30 to 20 degrees C within 20 min. 2. When thiamine tetrahydrofurfuryl sulfide (TTFD) at concentration of 10-5 g/ml was added in the medium, the arrest was not seen for more than 30 min. 3. Arrhythmic contractions induced by the electrical square wave stimulation of threshold intensity were prevented by TTFD at 10-4 g/ml which was added to the medium. 4. These effects of TTFD at respective concentrations were seen even 30 min after the drug was removed from the medium, when the atria had been pre-incubated with the drug for one hour before the removal. 5. From these results, it was assumed that TTFD might show these effects against the extrinsic physical invasions through the stabilization of the tissue membrane.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Although patients with myelomeningocele and the Chiari II malformation are known to have sleep apnea and respiratory control deficits, the prevalence, types, severities, and associations of sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) have not been adequately defined. METHODS: A cross-sectional study of our myelomeningocele clinic population was undertaken to correlate polysomnographic results with historical data and findings from magnetic resonance imaging of the Chiari malformation, pulmonary function results, and nocturnal pulse oximetry. RESULTS: A questionnaire survey of symptoms was available for 107 of 109 children (98% of the clinic population), and 83 patients agreed to undergo overnight polysomnography. Breathing during sleep was classified as normal in 31 cases (37%), mildly abnormal in 35 cases (42%), and moderately/severely abnormal in 17 cases (20%). Among the 17 patients with moderately/severely abnormal SDB, 12 patients had predominantly central apneas and 5 had predominantly obstructive apnea. Patients with a thoracic or thoracolumbar myelomeningocele, those who had previously had a posterior fossa decompression operation, those with more severe brain-stem malformations, and those with pulmonary function abnormalities were more likely to have moderately/severely abnormal SDB, relative risks (95% confidence intervals) 9.2 (2.9 to 29.3), 3.5 (1.3 to 8.9), 3.0 (0.9 to 10.5), and 11.6 (1.6 to 81.3), respectively. Failure of obstructive SDB to resolve after adenotonsillectomy in four patients suggested abnormal control of pharyngeal airway patency during sleep. Nocturnal pulse oximetry accurately predicted moderately/severely abnormal SDB with a sensitivity of 100% and a specificity of 67%. CONCLUSIONS: The pathogenesis of SDB in patients with myelomeningocele involves the functional level of the spinal lesions, congenital and acquired brainstem abnormalities, pulmonary function abnormalities, disorders of upper airway maintenance, and sleep state. Polysomnography and nocturnal pulse oximetry should be performed in high-risk patients to detect and classify SDB.  相似文献

6 male albino Sprague-Dawley rats were placed in a cold environment (2.C) where thermic reinforcement was available through a leverpress. For the various intensities of reinforcement used, Ss adjusted their performance in such a way that a relatively constant level of the total amount of caloric radiation was received. The concomitant heart rate level also was relatively the same for each intensity of reinforcement, even though the number of presses was inversely proportional to the intensity of reinforcement. In this situation, the heart rate variation could be largely related to the influence of heat radiation on the cardiovascular system. (18 ref.) Corner-based Timing Analysis (CTA) becomes more and more pessimistic as feature size shrinks. This trend has motivated the development of Statistical Static Timing Analysis (SSTA). In this paper, we propose a new path-based SSTA framework that allows the estimation of path delay distributions and delay correlations by propagating iteratively mean and variance of cell delay. These moments, conditioned on input slope and output load values, are pre-characterized by an improved method: log-logistic distribution based input signals and inverters as output load. In applications, the delay gains of this SSTA framework with respect to CTA are shown to be significant. It is also highlighted that the discrepancy of critical paths orderings obtained by SSTA and CTA depends on two factors: cell-to-cell delay correlation and standard deviation of cell delay.  相似文献

Eighty-four Holstein cows were assigned to a randomized block experiment to determine effects of supplementing pre- and postpartum diets containing highLys protein supplements with rumen-protected Met and Lys. Before parturition, cows received a basal diet with 1) no rumen-protected amino acids (AA), 2) 10.5 g/d of Met from rumen-protected Met, or 3) 10.2 g/d of Met and 16.0 g/d of Lys from rumen-protected Met plus Lys. After parturition, cows continued to receive AA treatments but switched to diets balanced for 16.0 or 18.5% crude protein (CP). Diets were corn-based; supplemental protein was provided by soybean products and blood meal. Cows received treatments through d 105 of lactation. Compared with basal and Met-supplemented diets, Met + Lys supplementation increased yield of energy-corrected milk, fat, and protein, and tended to increase production of 3.5% fat-corrected milk. Significant CP x AA interactions were observed only for milk protein and fat content. Supplementation of the 16% CP diet with Met and Met + Lys had no effect on milk true protein and fat content. However, Met and Met + Lys supplementation of the 18.5% CP diet increased milk protein content by 0.21 and 0.14 percentage units, respectively, and Met supplementation increased fat content by 0.26 percentage units. Results of this study indicate that early-lactation cows fed corn-based diets are responsive to increased intestinal supplies of Lys and Met and that the responses depend on dietary CP concentration, supply of metabolizable protein, and intestinal digestibility of the rumen-undegradable fraction of supplemental proteins.  相似文献

Describes 2 experiments in which Sprague-Dawley albino rats (N = 18) were trained in a Skinner box under 23 hrs of water deprivation. Heart rate was recorded during training and overtraining. There were 3 successive phases in the variation of heart rate: acceleration during the 1st 4 training sessions; deceleration during early stabilization of performance; and stabilization of heart rate during overtraining.
