The visualization process is a transformation of information content into knowledge via a visual representation. Visualization experience, proposed herein, reflects human sensations arising during the visualization process. It provides a basis in which to objectively measure and evaluate human participation in the visualization process; and thereby provides methods of control. Visualization experience modeling allows leveraging on the natural environment to augment understanding, therefore improve decision making. The application emphasis in this paper is on the theoretical development of visualization experience in the visualization process as applied to Ambient Assisted Living and Clinical Decision Support Systems.  相似文献

Prior research has documented that IT investment increases market returns. Economic theories predict such returns to be recognized in accounting profitability; this relationship remains ambiguous in prior literature. We reexamine the relationship between IT investment and firm profitability. Our approach is unique in that we examine complementarities between distinct IT components. We document that a firm’s investments in IT components exhibit different impacts on its profitability conditional on the level of investments in complementary components.  相似文献

Abstract

This paper focuses on developing economic theory on the interrelation between information technology investment components. Three functional forms to model the joint effects between components of investment on firm accounting profitability are identified and empirically tested. The results suggest that the complementarities between components of IT investment can be best modeled by using the multiplicative functional forms, providing a framework to model the joint effects of different factors that impact firm profitability.  相似文献

Qi, the wireless power standard, has been proposed to allow low power systems to receive power through wireless inductive power transfer. The standard outlines the essential, desired and optional requirements for developing the wireless power transfer platform. In this paper, we present the design and implementation results of communication controller for guided positioning single transmitter–single receiver wireless power transfer platform. Apart from the basic design, additional processing and data storage capability is introduced to make the design adaptive in terms of response time and the size of control data transfer. The method of estimating the amount of power transfer is modified to reduce design complexity and internal power consumption of power transmitter and receiver. The implementation results help to access the ratio of power transferred to resource utilization and the ratio of power transferred to power consumed in simplistic wireless power transfer platform.  相似文献

Multimedia-based hashing is considered an important technique for achieving authentication and copy detection in digital contents. However, 3D model hashing has not been as widely used as image or video hashing. In this study, we develop a robust 3D mesh-model hashing scheme based on a heat kernel signature (HKS) that can describe a multi-scale shape curve and is robust against isometric modifications. We further discuss the robustness, uniqueness, security, and spaciousness of the method for 3D model hashing. In the proposed hashing scheme, we calculate the local and global HKS coefficients of vertices through time scales and 2D cell coefficients by clustering HKS coefficients with variable bin sizes based on an estimated L2 risk function, and generate the binary hash through binarization of the intermediate hash values by combining the cell values and the random values. In addition, we use two parameters, bin center points and cell amplitudes, which are obtained through an iterative refinement process, to improve the robustness, uniqueness, security, and spaciousness further, and combine them in a hash with a key. By evaluating the robustness, uniqueness, and spaciousness experimentally, and through a security analysis based on the differential entropy, we verify that our hashing scheme outperforms conventional hashing schemes.  相似文献

Low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes have become the part of various communication standards due to their excellent error correcting performance. Existing methods require matrix inverse computation for obtaining a systematic generator matrix from parity check matrix. With the change in code rate or code length the process is repeated and hence, a large number of pre-processing computations time and resources are required. In the existing methods, the complexity of encoding is essentially quadratic with respect to the block length. In this paper, it is shown that the parity check matrix can be constructed using patterned sub-matrix structure such that the matrix inverse operation is replaced by matrix multiplication of sparse matrices. The sparseness of matrices is then utilized to obtain efficient encoders which can achieve encoding in real time with reduced pre-computation complexity. Hardware implementation of encoder and simulation results show that the proposed encoder achieves throughput in excess of 1 Gbps with the same error correcting performance as the conventional designs.  相似文献

A type of fast response time (RT) liquid crystal (LC) was developed to adopt in fringe‐field switching (FFS) mode for shutter glass 3D display device, the average gray to gray level (GTG) RT can reduce from 7.43 ms to 4.48 ms at a refreshing rate of 60 Hz, and the transmittance can increase by 15.4% compared with conventional LC based on the same cell gap. Meanwhile, the correlation among optical efficiency, correlative color temperature (CCT) of module and retardation of LC for FFS mode was studied. Transmittance is proportional to the retardation of LC; however, the CCT is inversely proportional to the retardation. The fast response LC can keep almost the original optical efficiency and CCT.  相似文献

The optimal viewing distance was proposed as a parameter for designing a parallax barrier 3D display. It can be designed based on simple geometric method and by considering the pitches of image display pixels and parallax barrier, or even including the aperture ratios of the image display pixels and parallax barrier. It can be analyzed by using ray tracing method. By considering the optical refraction index of the cover glass, the angular behavior of the system becomes more realistic; however, the geometric method is difficult to be used. We propose a revised method for estimating the view distance and angular behavior. In this paper, we have demonstrated a designated eye position (DEP) for each view and shown that multiple DEPs make a circular curve around the center of the display. We prove the new concept by comparing the optical ray tracing calculations and optical measurement.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce the concept of personal driving diary. A personal driving diary is a multimedia archive of a person’s daily driving experience, describing important driving events of the user with annotated videos. This paper presents an automated system that constructs such multimedia diary by analyzing videos obtained from a vehicle-mounted camera. The proposed system recognizes important interactions between the driving vehicle and the other actors in videos (e.g., accident, overtaking, etc.), and labels them together with its contextual knowledge on the vehicle (e.g., mean velocity) to construct an event log. A decision tree based activity recognizer is designed, detecting driving events of vehicles and pedestrians from the first-person view videos by analyzing their trajectories and spatio-temporal relationships. The constructed diary enables efficient searching and event-based browsing of video clips, which helps the users when retrieving videos of dangerous situations. Our experiment confirms that the proposed system reliably generates driving diaries by annotating the vehicle events learned from training examples.  相似文献

In this paper, we address the problem of 2D–3D pose estimation. Specifically, we propose an approach to jointly track a rigid object in a 2D image sequence and to estimate its pose (position and orientation) in 3D space. We revisit a joint 2D segmentation/3D pose estimation technique, and then extend the framework by incorporating a particle filter to robustly track the object in a challenging environment, and by developing an occlusion detection and handling scheme to continuously track the object in the presence of occlusions. In particular, we focus on partial occlusions that prevent the tracker from extracting an exact region properties of the object, which plays a pivotal role for region-based tracking methods in maintaining the track. To this end, a dynamical choice of how to invoke the objective functional is performed online based on the degree of dependencies between predictions and measurements of the system in accordance with the degree of occlusion and the variation of the object’s pose. This scheme provides the robustness to deal with occlusions of an obstacle with different statistical properties from that of the object of interest. Experimental results demonstrate the practical applicability and robustness of the proposed method in several challenging scenarios.  相似文献
