This paper proposes an alternative approach to address the problem of coordinating behaviors in mobile robot navigation: fusion of control signals. Such approach is based on a set of two decentralized information filters, which accomplish the data fusion involved. Besides these two fusion engines, control architectures designed according to this approach also embed a set of different controllers that generate reference signals for the robot linear and angular speeds. Such signals are delivered to the two decentralized information filters, which estimate suitable overall reference signals for the robot linear and angular speeds, respectively. Thus, the background for designing such control architectures is provided by the nonlinear systems theory, which makes this approach different from any other yet proposed. This background also allows checking control architectures designed according to the proposed approach for stability. Such analysis is carried out in the paper, and shows that the robot always reaches its final destination, in spite of either obstacles along its path or the environment layout. As an example, a control architecture is designed to guide a mobile robot in an experiment, whose results allows checking the good performance of the control architecture and validating the design approach proposed as well. 相似文献

Recently, preemption techniques have attracted considerable attention as a means to provide differentiated quality of service
in optical burst switching (OBS) networks. This paper is focused on the analysis of preemption probabilities for bursts within
the same priority class. As proposed by Vokkarane and Jue ((2003)* IEEE J Select Areas Commun 21(7): 1198–1209) an incoming
burst will preempt the burst in service, within the same priority class, if the residual length of the burst in service is
smaller than the incoming burst length. For a general case with wavelength conversion, the preemption probability of contending
bursts with a generic service distribution, not necessarily exponential, is analyzed. First, we show that the size distribution
for the preempting bursts is shifted to larger values, in comparison to the original burst size distribution. Second, we obtain
an upper and lower bound for the preemption probability. Finally, the asymptotic behavior of the OBS switch is analyzed showing

The present paper studies a feedback regulation problem that arises in at least two different biological applications. The feedback regulation problem under consideration may be interpreted as an adaptive control problem for tuning bifurcation parameters, and it has not been studied in the control literature. Data from 2-dimensional video disdrometers (2DVD) taken in different locations are used to derive the specific attenuation for horizontal and vertical polarisations at 20 GHz. The data include both drop-size distribution and their axis ratio distributions. T-matrix calculations using data over 1 min integration time show a power-law dependence on rain rate. The best-fit coefficients are compared with those given in the ITU-R Recommendation P. 838, both versions 2 and 3. Closest agreement is seen for vertical polarisation for version 2 and the largest discrepancies are seen for horizontal polarisation for version 3. The discrepancies are attributed to the different assumptions in the drop-size distributions, as well as the upper limit of integration for deriving the specific attenuation. The variation of the crosspolar discrimination (XPD) against copolar attenuation (CPA) is also examined. The 2DVD data are used to simulate a beacon experimental scenario at 20 GHz, the actual locations of the two instruments being different but climatically similar. Good agreement is seen with one year of beacon measurements, but the latter shows more spread in the variation, partly attributed to drop oscillations. The combination of the techniques of expert systems and neural networks has the potential of producing more powerful systems, for example, expert systems able to learn from experience. In this paper, we address the combinatorial neural model (CNM), a kind of fuzzy neural network able to accommodate in a simple framework the highly desirable property of incremental learning, as well as the usual capabilities of expert systems. We show how an interval-based representation for membership grades makes CNM capable of reasoning with several types of uncertainty: vagueness, ignorance, and relevance commonly found in practical applications. In addition, we show how basic functions of expert systems such as inference, inquiry, censorship of input information, and explanation may be implemented. The water and oil uptake of mesquite and arabic gums in powdered form was studied at temperatures of 23, 35 and 45°C. A previously proposed equation to predict osmotic equilibrium was tested using the experimental data with both gums and a good statistical fit was obtained. Mesquite gum showed the highest water and oil absorption at all temperatures studied. Temperature dependence of the reciprocal of the S1 and WL∞ were determined using an Arrhenius equation. The activation energy for water and oil absorption for gum arabic was 21.98 and 39.57 kJ mol−1 , compared to that of mesquite gum having values of 15.79 and 46.16 kJ mol−1 , respectively.
