Fresh cut leek was mixed with salt for 0.5 (IM) and 5 (LM)min or remained untreated (control) and stored alone or mixed with minced meat and seasonings, cased and stored at 15°C for 7days. The fresh cut leek and sausage metabolics and sausage microbiological and physicochemical traits were measured during storage. Sausages with LM leek had significantly higher counts of lactic acid bacteria, faster rates of pH drop and dehydration and increased red color compared with the other treatments. Sausage to fresh cut leek peaks of CO(2) or C(2)H(4) production was 5 or 2 fold higher in LM than the other treatments indicating that the sausage flora was the source of both. The use of salt-stressed fresh cut leek before manufacture of sausages enhances microbial activity as well as its stability and shortens the necessary storage time needed for the development of the quality characteristics of Greek traditional sausages.  相似文献

Sonicated arsonoliposomes were prepared using arsonolipid with palmitic acid acyl chain (C16), mixed with phosphatidylcholine (PC)-based or 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DSPC)-based, and cholesterol (Chol) with C16/DSPC/Chol 8:12:10 molar ratio. PEG-lipid (1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine conjugated to polyethylenoglycol 2000) containing vesicles (PEGylated-arsonoliposomes; PC-based and DSPC-based) were also prepared. The cytotoxicity of these arsonoliposomes towards different cancer cells (human promyelocytic leukaemia NB4, Prostatic cancer PC3, human breast adenocarcinoma MDA-MB-468, human T-lymphocyte (MT-4) and also towards human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) was evaluated by calculating the arsonoliposome-induced growth inhibition of the cells by the MTT assay. IC-50 values were interpolated from cell number/arsonoliposome concentration curves. The results reveal that all types of arsonoliposomes evaluated significantly inhibit the growth of most of the cancer cells studied (PC3, NB4, MT4) with the exception of the MDA-MB-468 breast cancer cells which were minimally affected by arsonoliposomes; in some cases even less than HUVEC. Nevertheless, for the same cell type the differences between the different types of arsonoliposomes were significant but not proportional to their stability, indicating that the formation of arsonoliposomes with very stable membranes is not a problem for their anticancer activity. Thereby it is concluded that arsonoliposome composition should be adjusted in accordance to their in vivo kinetics and the desired, for each specific application, biodistribution of As and/or encapsulated drug.  相似文献

A simple and novel dynamic circuit model for a proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell suitable for the analysis and design of power systems is presented. The model takes into account phenomena like activation polarization, ohmic polarization, and mass transport effect present in a PEM fuel cell. The proposed circuit model includes three resistors to approach adequately these phenomena; however, since for the PEM dynamic performance connection or disconnection of an additional load is of crucial importance, the proposed model uses two saturable inductors accompanied by an ideal transformer to simulate the double layer charging effect during load step changes. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed model its dynamic performance under load step changes is simulated. Experimental results coming from a commercial PEM fuel cell module that uses hydrogen from a pressurized cylinder at the anode and atmospheric oxygen at the cathode, clearly verify the simulation results.  相似文献

The introduction of nanodiamond particles (NDs) in silane‐crosslinked polyethylene is found to lead to a notable and systematic deformation of the polymer unit cell. X‐ray diffraction evidence of the existence of a modified crystalline structure in the bulk of the polymer due to the presence of NDs is reported here for the first time. The covalent bonding between NDs and the surrounding macromolecular chains may support that the excessive local stress field ultimately distorts the polymer conformation, yielding a new distorted but still crystalline interface. Supporting data from solid‐state NMR experiments confirm the existence of a modified crystalline interface of about 1–2 nm in all the nanocomposite materials.

This study presents for the first time comprehensive measurements of the particle number size distribution (10 nm to 10 μm) together with next-generation sequencing analysis of airborne bacteria inside a dental clinic. A substantial enrichment of the indoor environment with new particles in all size classes was identified by both activities to background and indoor/outdoor (I/O) ratios. Grinding and drilling were the principal dental activities to produce new particles in the air, closely followed by polishing. Illumina MiSeq sequencing of 16S rRNA of bioaerosol collected indoors revealed the presence of 86 bacterial genera, 26 of them previously characterized as potential human pathogens. Bacterial species richness and concentration determined both by qPCR, and culture-dependent analysis were significantly higher in the treatment room. Bacterial load of the treatment room impacted in the nearby waiting room where no dental procedures took place. I/O ratio of bacterial concentration in the treatment room followed the fluctuation of I/O ratio of airborne particles in the biology-relevant size classes of 1–2.5, 2.5–5, and 5–10 μm. Exposure analysis revealed increased inhaled number of particles and microorganisms during dental procedures. These findings provide a detailed insight on airborne particles of both biotic and abiotic origin in a dental clinic.  相似文献

The use of a Monte Carlo code for the analysis and interpretation of whole body counting measurements is described. The sources of error are analysed and commented to show how a counting geometry can be improved by improving accuracy and precision in a measurement. The effects of body size, contamination distribution and counting geometry are also parameters which can be easily used to improve the quality of a body burden assessment. The optimisation of the detector (position, shielding, shape and size) is also commented on the basis of calculations in the photon energy range usually encountered in routine measurements. The results obtained from these simulations are confirmed by experimental results.  相似文献

This paper presents a mixed integer linear programming (MILP) model for the optimal synthesis of chromatographic protein purification processes including the time line in which our target protein product is collected. The model is linearised using piecewise linear approximation strategies and tested on three example protein mixtures, containing up to 13 contaminants and selecting from a set of up to 21 candidate steps. The results are also compared with previous literature models attempting to solve the same problem and show that the proposed approach offers significant gains in computational efficiency without compromising the quality of the solution.  相似文献

Supersaturated process waters high in silicates frequently result in deposition of colloidal silica or metal silicate salts. Silica cannot be inhibited by conventional phosphonate mineral scale inhibitors. Chemical cleaning poses hazards and requires operational shut-downs. This paper is focused on a dual approach for silica scale control, inhibition of colloidal silica formation and colloidal silica dissolution in water technology applications by use of designed chemical approaches. The additives used for silica inhibition were polyaminoamide dendrimers (PAMAM) and polyethyleneimine (PEI), in combination with carboxymethyl inulin (CMI) and polyacrylate (PAA) polymers. In principle, silica inhibition is a function of time and inhibitor dosage. Amine-terminated PAMAM-1 and 2 dendrimers as well as PEI combined with anionic polymers, such as CMI and PAA, seem to have a significant inhibitory effect on silica formation, most likely at its earlier stages where the reaction products are oligomeric silicates. CMI and PAA assist the inhibitory action of PAMAM-1 and 2 and PEI by alleviating formation of insoluble SiO2-PAMAM precipitates. This most likely occurs by partial neutralization of the positive charge that exists in –NH+3 surface groups. Increase of anionic polymer dosage above a certain threshold has a detrimental effect on the activity of the cationic inhibitors. In that case the polymer’s negative charge “overwhelms” the cationic charge of the inhibitor and poisons its inhibition ability. For silica dissolution, acetic, oxalic, citric acids, histidine and phenylalanine were used as potential replacements of ammonium bifluoride (NH4F·HF). Silica dissolution is dependent in a rather unpredictable fashion on the structure of the dissolver, time and dosage. This paper continues our research efforts in the discovery, design and application of antiscalant additives that have mild environmental impact. These chemicals are also known as “green additives”.  相似文献

Zurek has provided simple causal bounds for the onset of phase transitions in condensed matter, that mirror those proposed by Kibble for relativistic quantum field theory. In this paper we show how earlier experiments with annular Josephson tunnel junctions are consistent with this scenario, and suggest how further experiments might confirm it.  相似文献
