An experimental and analytical investigation was carried out both in laboratory and in situ on wearing courses. The approach presented in this paper aims to predict the in situ density and surface properties of bituminous layers, during the phase of mix design in laboratory. Therefore, the main attempt of this study is to identify, amongst the commonly available laboratory equipments, the most adequate for producing specimens that, used for carrying out simple and reliable laboratory test, allow the prediction of the surface characteristics of the mixture as laid on site.This is done by comparing the data collected from an experimental site with those calculated from laboratory specimens compacted with the superpave gyratory compactor (SGC).Typical laboratory tests (such as the sand patch method and the skid test) as well as the surface data obtained with a laser profilometer have been considered for characterizing the properties of a standard Italian wearing course, laid in two different final thicknesses and produced with the most common raw materials, according to the currently used techniques for mixtures production and laying process for maintenance work. An evaluation of the SGC ability to represent the density and surface properties of the mixture once on site is then discussed.  相似文献

We introduce and analyze a discontinuous Galerkin method for the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations that is based on finite element spaces of the same polynomial order for the approximation of the velocity and the pressure. Stability of this equal-order approach is ensured by a pressure stabilization term. A simple element-by-element post-processing procedure is used to provide globally divergence-free velocity approximations. For small data, we prove the existence and uniqueness of discrete solutions and carry out an error analysis of the method. A series of numerical results are presented that validate our theoretical findings.  相似文献

The kinetics of gasification of carbon deposited on nickel foils and nickel-alumina catalysts by steam, carbon dioxide and hydrogen are reported for the temperature range 450–850°C. At atmospheric pressure steam is the most effective gasifying agent. In all cases, the kinetic data obtained at lower temperatures (below 600°C) is consistent with control of the process by the chemical reaction. As the temperature increases, the rates of gasification by steam and carbon dioxide are limited by mass transfer effects. The concentration of methane near reaction sites affects the rate of hydrogen gasification above 650°C.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The replacement of some synthetic food antioxidants by safe natural antioxidants has fostered research on the screening of raw materials to find new vegetable sources of antioxidants. In this study the antioxidant activity of eight wild‐growing Colombian plants was assessed by four complementary assays. RESULTS: An evaluation of the antioxidant activity of ten ethanolic extracts from Baccharis chilco, Cinnamomum triplinerve, Ilex laurina, Lachemilla orbiculata, Lepechinia conferta, Quercus humboldtii, Rubus urticifolius and Tephrosia cinerea was carried out. Furthermore, the total phenolic content was determined by the Folin–Ciocalteu method, and the relationship between phenolic content and activity was also statistically investigated. Cinnamomum triplinerve, L. conferta and I. laurina were found to have the highest phenolic contents. Baccharis chilco, C. triplinerve, I. laurina, L. conferta, Q. humboldtii and R. urticifolius showed higher radical‐scavenging activity (DPPH and superoxide assays) than commercial rosemary oleoresin (reference). Lachemilla orbiculata and R. urticifolius showed higher antioxidant activity (β‐carotene‐bleaching test) than the reference. The protection factor of all studied plant extracts was below that of the reference according to the Rancimat test. CONCLUSION: On the basis of the results obtained, C. triplinerve, Q. humboldtii and R. urticifolius seem to be the most promising species for further investigation in order to identify the compounds responsible for their activity. This paper describes the design, realization and use of an analogical, fully reconfigurable experimental setup to analyze the complex dynamics of networks of chaotic circuits. It reports details of the implementation and characterization of the setup, together with representative results, showing its flexibility and potential. The setup allows to choose arbitrarily the coupling strength and interconnection structure among the circuits, the type of link and to select the parameters of the node dynamics. It has a modular structure, and it can accommodate up to 32 nodes interconnected by at most 32 links. The collective dynamics of a relatively large set of different network structures and configurations has been investigated using the setup. Synchronization, pattern formation and other interesting collective phenomena were observed experimentally, their evidence being reported here as an illustration of the potential of the proposed setup. This work presents a genetic operator developed from mathematical methods of curve extrapolation applied in solving problems in geoelectrical prospection. This operator will assist the production of fitter individuals in the population of a genetic algorithm in which inherent patterns of the best individuals of each generation are recognized. The proposed operator in conjunction with a real‐coded genetic algorithm is compared to five alternative optimization techniques known and used in the application to problems in geoelectrical prospection. The direct ink writing of an ink composed of a preceramic polymer and fillers was used to produce hardystonite (Ca2ZnSi2O7) bioceramic scaffolds. Suitable formulations were developed for the extrusion of fine filaments (350 μm diameter) through a nozzle. The preceramic polymer was employed with the double purpose of contributing to the rheology of the ink by increasing its viscosity and of forming the hardystonite phase upon heat treatment by reacting with the fillers. A control of the rheology is essential when spanning features have to be produced, and therefore the main rheological characteristics of the inks were measured (flow curves, dynamic oscillation tests, viscosity recovery tests) and compared to models reported in the literature. Highly porous scaffolds (up to 80% total porosity) were produced and heat treated in air or in nitrogen atmosphere. The influence of the heat‐treatment atmosphere on the morphology, crystalline phase assemblage, and compressive strength of the scaffolds was investigated.  相似文献

A Hybrid Learning Process method was fitted into a RBF. The resulting redesigned RBF intends to show how to test if the statistical assumptions are fulfilled and to apply statistical inference to the redesigned RBFNN bearing in mind that it allows to determine the relationship between a response (to a process) and one or more independent variables, testing how much each factor contributes to the total variation of the response is also feasible. The results show that statistical methods such as inference, Residual Analysis, and statistical metrics are all good alternatives and excellent methods for validation of the effectiveness of the Neural Network models. The foremost conclusion is that the resulting redesigned Radial Basis Function improved the accuracy of the model after using a Hybrid Learning Process; moreover, the new model also validates the statistical assumptions for using statistical inference and statistical analysis, satisfying the assumptions required for ANOVA to determine the statistical significance and the relationship between variables.  相似文献

A case study is presented which concerns the design of an adaptive mechanism for packetised audio for use over the Internet. During the design process, the audio mechanism was modelled with the stochastically timed process algebra EMPA and analysed via simulation by the EMPA based software tool TwoTowers in order to predict the percentage of packets that are received in time for being played out. The predicted performance figures obtained from the algebraic model illustrated in advance the adequacy of the approach adopted in the design of the audio playout delay control mechanism. Based on these performance figures, it was possible to implement and develop the complete mechanism without incurring additional costs due to the late discovery of unexpected errors or inefficiency. In this paper we present a new residual-based reliable a posteriori error estimator for the local discontinuous Galerkin approximations of linear and nonlinear diffusion problems in polygonal regions of R 2. Our analysis, which applies to convex and nonconvex domains, is based on Helmholtz decompositions of the error and a suitable auxiliary polynomial function interpolating the Dirichlet datum. Several examples confirming the reliability of the estimator and providing numerical evidences for its efficiency are given. Furthermore, the associated adaptive method, which considers meshes with and without hanging nodes, is shown to be much more efficient than a uniform refinement to compute the discrete solutions.
