The influences of couplers on wave propagation and mode localization in simply supported multispan beams with couplers consisting of lumped rotational stiffness and mass on supports are studied. A transfer matrix equation governing the vibrational wave propagation in the simply supported multispan beams with couplers is newly derived and simplified. The eigenvalue of the simplified transfer matrix shows that the larger stiffness or the larger mass of the coupler makes the internal coupling between spans weaker and so it makes the system more sensitive to mode localization. As the wave frequency or the eigenvalues of the system increases, the mass effect is increased while the stiffness effect is decreased. In a case considering the large stiffness and mass at the same time, there is a region with relatively wider passbands and narrower stop bands having small attenuation rates and the normal modes in it become delocalized ones. As an example structure, a simply supported two span beam with a coupler at the midspan is considered.  相似文献

Free vibration analysis of a through-width multidelaminated beam is performed in the present study. Multiple delaminations are assumed to spread from the top through the thickness direction of the beam. The natural frequencies of the multidelaminated beams are obtained from a recurrent single delaminated beam (RSDB) model, which is the subsingle delaminated beam from the top surface of a global beam. Each frequency equation for the RSDB with unknown boundary conditions is obtained through continuity conditions. Then this result is updated to the next one. With these sequential operations, the final frequency equation of the multidelaminated beams is obtained for both end boundary conditions of the global beam. The numerical results for the beams are compared with those of finite element analysis to give the reliance on the proposed model and to investigate the effects of the shape, number, and size of multidelaminations on the natural frequency. It was shown that the variations in the natural frequency for the multidelaminated beams were significantly affected by the delamination length.  相似文献

The global response of a soil is affected by spatial as well as temporal scales. An electrical needle-size probe is developed to effectively assess one-dimensional spatial variability. The probe is designed for laboratory specimens (needle diameter 1.2–2.2 mm), and it can be scaled for field applications. Design considerations include the tip shape, insertion disturbance, electrochemical effects, corrosion, operating frequency, and electrical resonance. Two calibration methods are presented to determine local soil permittivity and resistivity from the measured complex impedance; the simplified calibration procedure is based on resistance measurements only. The local electrical parameters permit one to infer the soil porosity and the electrolyte conductivity. The attainable spatial resolution depends on the needle diameter; submillimetric resolution is typically achieved in laboratory applications. Reconstituted sand specimens and undisturbed clayey specimens are tested to explore the resolution potential of this probe. The electrical needle probe clearly detects the spatial variability that results from different specimen preparation methods in sands and soil layering from natural formation histories such as those in varved clays.  相似文献

Development of Downdrag on Piles and Pile Groups in Consolidating Soil   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Development of pile settlement (downdrag) of piles constructed in consolidating soil may lead to serious pile foundation design problems. The investigation of downdrag has attracted far less attention than the study of dragload over the years. In this paper, several series of two-dimensional axisymmetric and three-dimensional numerical parametric analyses were conducted to study the behavior of single piles and piles in 3×3 and 5×5 pile groups in consolidating soil. Both elastic no-slip and elasto-plastic slip at the pile–soil interface were considered. For a single pile, the downdrag computed from the no-slip elastic analysis and from the analytical elastic solution was about 8–14 times larger than that computed from the elasto-plastic slip analysis. The softer the consolidating clay, the greater the difference between the no-slip elastic and the elasto-plastic slip analyses. For the 5×5 pile group at 2.5 diameter spacing, the maximum downdrag of the center, inner, and corner piles was, respectively, 63, 68, and 79% of the maximum downdrag of the single pile. The reduction of downdrag inside the pile group is attributed to the shielding effects on the inner piles by the outer piles. The relative reduction in downdrag (Wr) in the 5×5 pile group increases with an increase in the relative bearing stiffness ratio (Eb/Ec), depending on the pile location in the group. Compared with the relative reduction in dragload (Pr), Wr at the corner pile is less affected by the group interaction for a given surcharge load. This suggests that the use of sacrificing piles outside the pile group will be more effective on Pr than on Wr. Based on the three cases studied, the larger the number of piles in a group, the greater the shielding effects on Wr. Relatively speaking, Wr is more sensitive to the total number of piles than to the pile spacing within a pile group.  相似文献

Objective: To evaluate the ability of the Cognitive Log (Cog-Log) to predict neuropsychological outcome at 1 year after traumatic brain injury (TBI). Study Design: The Orientation Log (O-Log) and Cog-Log were administered during morning rounds, and a battery of neuropsychological tests was administered at 1 year postinjury. Setting: Acute rehabilitation hospital. Participants: Fifty rehabilitation inpatients. Main Outcome Measures: Composite scores for processing speed, attention, language, memory, executive functioning, and visuospatial abilities. Results: The Cog-Log was found to significantly predict 1-year outcome in attention, executive functioning, and visuospatial abilities. The O-Log contributed significantly to memory outcome. The Disability Rating Scale was not a significant predictor. Conclusions: The Cog-Log has utility as a predictor of neuropsychological outcome, particularly when used with its companion instrument, the O-Log. Important asymmetries between self-perception and social perception arise from the simple fact that other people's actions, judgments, and priorities sometimes differ from one's own. This leads people not only to make more dispositional inferences about others than about themselves (E. E. Jones & R. E. Nisbett, 1972) but also to see others as more susceptible to a host of cognitive and motivational biases. Although this blind spot regarding one's own biases may serve familiar self-enhancement motives, it is also a product of the phenomenological stance of naive realism. It is exacerbated, furthermore, by people's tendency to attach greater credence to their own introspections about potential influences on judgment and behavior than they attach to similar introspections by others. The authors review evidence, new and old, of this asymmetry and its underlying causes and discuss its relation to other psychological phenomena and to interpersonal and intergroup conflict. In this work, a probabilistic neural network (PNN) that has been applied well to the classification problems is used in order to identify the break locations of loss of coolant accidents (LOCA) such as hot-leg, cold-leg and steam generator tubes. Also, a fuzzy neural network (FNN) is designed to estimate the break size. The inputs to PNN and FNN are time-integrated values obtained by integrating measurement signals during a short time interval after reactor scram. An automatic structure constructor for the fuzzy neural network automatically selects the input variables from the time-integrated values of many measured signals, and optimizes the number of rules and its related parameters. It is verified that the proposed algorithm identifies very well the break locations of LOCAs and also, estimate their break size accurately.  相似文献

The spent fuel storage and transport cask must withstand various accident conditions such as fire, free drop and puncture in accordance with the requirement of the IAEA and domestic regulations. The spent fuel storage and transport cask should maintain the structural safety not to release radioactive material in any condition. And also the effects of the irradiation should be considered because the spent fuels stored in the cask for a long time and be possible to change the mechanical properties of the cask.In this study, the changed mechanical properties of the cask after irradiation for the 30 years storage periods are assumed and applied to the impact analysis using ABAQUS/Explicit code and seismic analysis using ANSYS code. The stress intensity on each part of the cask is calculated and the effects of irradiation are studied and structural integrity of the package is evaluated.  相似文献

Structural and functional analyses of ecosystems benefit when high accuracy vegetation coverages can be derived over large areas. In this study, we utilize IKONOS, Landsat 7 ETM+, and airborne scanning light detection and ranging (lidar) to quantify coniferous forest and understory grass coverages in a ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa) dominated ecosystem in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Linear spectral mixture analyses of IKONOS and ETM+ data were used to isolate spectral endmembers (bare soil, understory grass, and tree/shade) and calculate their subpixel fractional coverages. We then compared these endmember cover estimates to similar cover estimates derived from lidar data and field measures. The IKONOS-derived tree/shade fraction was significantly correlated with the field-measured canopy effective leaf area index (LAIe) (r2=0.55, p<0.001) and with the lidar-derived estimate of tree occurrence (r2=0.79, p<0.001). The enhanced vegetation index (EVI) calculated from IKONOS imagery showed a negative correlation with the field measured tree canopy effective LAI and lidar tree cover response (r2=0.30, r=−0.55 and r2=0.41, r=−0.64, respectively; p<0.001) and further analyses indicate a strong linear relationship between EVI and the IKONOS-derived grass fraction (r2=0.99, p<0.001). We also found that using EVI resulted in better agreement with the subpixel vegetation fractions in this ecosystem than using normalized difference of vegetation index (NDVI). Coarsening the IKONOS data to 30 m resolution imagery revealed a stronger relationship with lidar tree measures (r2=0.77, p<0.001) than at 4 m resolution (r2=0.58, p<0.001). Unmixed tree/shade fractions derived from 30 m resolution ETM+ imagery also showed a significant correlation with the lidar data (r2=0.66, p<0.001). These results demonstrate the power of using high resolution lidar data to validate spectral unmixing results of satellite imagery, and indicate that IKONOS data and Landsat 7 ETM+ data both can serve to make the important distinction between tree/shade coverage and exposed understory grass coverage during peak summertime greenness in a ponderosa pine forest ecosystem.  相似文献

A simplified method for the computation of first-, second- and higher-order derivatives of eigenvalues and eigenvectors associated with repeated eigenvalues is presented. Adjacent eigenvectors and orthonormal conditions are used to compose an algebraic equation. The algebraic equation which is developed can be used to compute derivatives of eigenvalues and eigenvectors simultaneously. Since the coefficient matrix in the proposed algebraic equation is non-singular, symmetric and based on N-space, it is numerically stable and very efficient compared to previous methods. To verify the efficiency of the proposed method, the finite element model of the cantilever beam and a mechanical system in the case of a non-proportionally damped system are considered.  相似文献
