Electrospinning technology is attracting increasing interest for the fabrication of several polymeric and inorganic nanofibrous
materials useful for a wide range of applications. Although the intensive research performed to understand the physics of
the electrospinning process, control of polymeric jet path and of fibre deposition still remains a challenge. In this work,
micropatterned electrospun materials with tunable porosity are fabricated by using novel collector devices made up of a steel
sheet coated with a vitreous enamel layer. The novel approach permits to modulate electrical properties of the collector,
acting on charge distribution and charge diffusion properties of the vitreous enamel coating, without introducing substantial
modification of the electrospinning apparatus. The proposed solution allows the achievement of novel electrospun products
for all those advanced applications requiring materials with suited fibre deposition such as, microelectronics, optical and

This article reports the clinical and angiographic aspects of three patients with congenital coronary arteriovenous fistula to the main pulmonary artery, which manifested as dyspnea crisis and angina. This three cases were found in the course of 4,400 consecutive cardiac catheterization procedures to study coronary artery disease. The interest of the cases reported is based on the peculiar anatomy of the fistula. Prompt diagnosis is relevant for better prognosis and treatment. 相似文献

Quil A used with Boophilus microplus gut membrane antigen (GM) had a significant effect on antibody levels induced in sheep (P < 0.05) since GM alone did not induce a significant level of antibodies. Injection of a vaccine containing GM and Quil A, either subcutaneously or intramuscularly, induced similar levels of antibodies in sheep. However, Quil A injected subcutaneously induced acute inflammatory reaction. The amount of Quil A for use with GM was determined to be 1000 micrograms/ml. Immunostimulating complexes (ISCOMs) incorporating detergent-solubilized membrane midgut antigens (TX-GM) failed to induce an immune response in cattle without the addition of Quil A. The addition of Quil A to the ISCOMs containing TX-GM did not stimulate antibody responses greater than those stimulated by TX-GM plus Quil A, and protection in vaccinated cattle was 86% and 74%, respectively. 相似文献

Isolation and sequence analysis of a K. lactis chromosomal DNA element able to autonomously replicate in S. cerevisiae and K. lactis 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We have undertaken a search for autonomously replicating (ARSs) from Kluyveromyces lactis chromosomal DNA able to sustain plasmid replication in K. lactis and in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The discovery of such sequences might be interesting for the comparison of ARSs from different sources and possibly useful for the construction of multivalent vectors. HindIII fragments from K. lactis chromosomal DNA were inserted in the YIp5 plasmid (lacking an origin of replication) and the resulting chimaeric plasmids were selected for the ability to transform S. cerevisiae. Four plasmids were identified and further analysed. Two contained the same 1.8 kb K. lactis fragment and transformed both K. lactis and S. cerevisiae with the same efficiency and stability, whereas the third transformed only S. cerevisiae and the fourth transformed K. lactis with a higher efficiency than S. cerevisiae. A detailed study was performed on the 1.8 kb fragment which exhibited ARS function in both yeasts. The fragment was subcloned using different restriction enzymes and Bal31 exonuclease. Subclones were tested for ARS function. ARS activities in the two yeasts were localized in the same 100 bp region. Sequencing demonstrated the presence in this region of the dodecanucleotide 5'ATTTATTGTTTT3' differing from the ARS core consensus of S. cerevisiae only by a T insertion. A similar nucleotide sequence is present in the putative replication origin of the 2 mu-like plasmid pKD1 which stably replicates in K. lactis. Homologies with ARSs from S. cerevisiae were also found in the regions flanking the above-mentioned dodecanucleotide. 相似文献

Six ORFs of unknown function located on chromosome VII of Saccharomyces cerevisiae were disrupted in two different genetic backgrounds, and the phenotype of the generated mutants was analysed. Disruptions of ORFs YGR256w, YGR272c, YGR273c, YGR275w and YGR276c were carried out using the disruption marker kanMX4 flanked by short homology regions, whereas ORF YGR255c was inactivated with a long flanking homology (LFH) disruption cassette (Wach et al., 1994). Tetrad analysis of the heterozygous disruptants revealed that ORF YGR255c, previously identified as COQ6 and encoding a protein involved in the biosynthesis of coenzime Q (Tzagoloff and Dieckmann, 1990), is an essential gene. The same analysis also revealed that sporulation of the ygr272cDelta heterozygous diploid produced two small colonies per ascus that were also G418-resistant, indicating that the inactivation of ORF YGR272c could result in a slower growth rate. This result was confirmed by growth tests of the haploid disruptants and by complementation of the phenotype after transformation with a plasmid carrying the cognate gene. No phenotypes could be associated to the inactivation of ORFs YGR256w, YGR273c, YGR275w and YGR276c. Two of these genes have recently been further characterized: ORF YGR255w, renamed RTT102, encodes a regulator of the Ty1-element transposition, whereas ORF YGR276c was found to encode the 70 kDa RNase H activity and was renamed RNH70 (Frank et al., 1999). 相似文献

Piezo‐ and ferroelectric nanofibers of the polymer poly(vinylidenefluoride) (PVDF) have been widely employed in strain and pressure sensors as well as nanogenerators for energy harvesting. Despite this interest, the mechanism of electromechanical transduction is under debate and a deeper knowledge about relevant piezoelectric or electrostatic properties of nanofibers is crucial to optimize transduction efficiency. Here poly(vinylidenefluoride‐trifluoroethylene) nanofibers at different electrospinning conditions are prepared. Macroscopic electromechanical response of fiber mats with microscopic analysis of single nanofibers performed by piezoelectric and electrostatic force microscopy are compared. The results show that electrospinning favors the formation of the piezoelectric β‐phase in the polymer and leads directly to piezoelectric properties that are comparable to annealed thin films. However, during electrospinning the electric field is not strong enough to induce direct ferroelectric domain polarization. Instead accumulation of triboelectric surface charges and trapped space charge is observed in the polymer that explain the electret like macroscopic electromechanical response. 相似文献

Adzuki seed β-vignin, a vicilin-like globulin, has proven to exert various health-promoting biological activities, notably in cardiovascular health. A simple scalable enrichment procedure of this protein for further nutritional and functional studies is crucial. In this study, a simplified chromatography-independent protein fractionation procedure has been optimized and described. The electrophoretic analysis showed a high degree of homogeneity of β-vignin isolate. Furthermore, the molecular features of the purified protein were investigated. The adzuki bean β-vignin was found to have a native size of 146 kDa, and the molecular weight determined was consistent with a trimeric structure. These were identified in two main polypeptide chains (masses of 56–54 kDa) that are glycosylated polypeptides with metal binding capacity, and one minor polypeptide chain with a mass 37 kDa, wherein these features are absent. The in vitro analysis showed a high degree of digestibility of the protein (92%) and potential anti-inflammatory capacity. The results lay the basis not only for further investigation of the health-promoting properties of the adzuki bean β-vignin protein, but also for a possible application as nutraceutical molecule. 相似文献
