Capsicum annum cultivars Yellow cayenne, Portafortuna, Idealino, Sole, Duemila, Pellegrino, Fantasia, Loco, and Effix were investigated for their antioxidant properties and foodborne pathogens inhibitory activity. The total phenols, flavonoids, anthocyanins, capsaicinoids, carotenoids, ascorbic acid, and vitamin E content were also determined. Duemila and Portafortuna cultivars showed the highest total phenol content with values of 924.3 and 935.0 mg of chlorogenic acid equivalents/100 g dried weight, respectively. Idealino pepper presented the highest capsaicin content (2932.1 μg/g dried weight). The antioxidant capacity was evaluated by using 2,2’-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid test, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl test, and ferric reducing ability power assay. Both Pellegrino and Idealino samples exhibited a promising radical scavenging ability against 2,2’-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid radical with IC50 values of 45.2 and 45.7 μg/mL, respectively. All the extracts were able to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Listeria monocytogenes investigated strains. The most active are Effix and Fantasia peppers with minimal inhibitory concentration between 12.5 and 25.0 mg/mL, respectively. Overall, these results support the use of these pepper species as dried extract in food preservation.  相似文献

This study used a cross-national framework to examine country, region, and gender differences in emotional availability (EA), a prominent index of mutual socioemotional adaptation in the parent-child dyad. Altogether 220 Argentine, Italian, and U.S. mothers and their daughters and sons from both rural and metropolitan areas took part in home observations when the children were 20 months old. In terms of country, Italian mothers were more sensitive and optimally structuring, and Italian children were more responsive and involving, than Argentine and U.S. dyads. In terms of region, rural mothers were more intrusive than metropolitan mothers, and boys from metropolitan areas were more responsive than boys from rural areas. In terms of gender, mothers of girls were more sensitive and optimally structuring than mothers of boys, and daughters were more responsive and involving than sons. Understanding how country, region, and gender influence EA exposes forces that shape child development, parent-infant interaction, and family systems. Enriched Methane is a gas mixture consisting of methane and a certain amount of hydrogen (10–30%vol) that finds out several applications such as fuel of Internal Combustion Engines (ICEs). To produce EM, a steam reforming reactor whose heat duty is supplied by a molten-salt stream heated up by a concentrating solar power (CSP) plant can be used, in order to generate the hydrogen steam by solar energy. In fact, molten salts at temperatures up to 550 °C can allow to reach the necessary thermal level inside the reactor to promote steam reforming reaction.  相似文献

Under the scenario of an increasing sharing of renewable energy, Power to Gas technology may offer an effective and valuable solution for surplus energy management, accounting for a large and long-term chemical storage. In the present study an innovative Power to Synthetic Natural Gas (SNG) process has been described and investigated from a techno-economic and environmental point of view. The configuration is based on a methanation process, directly applied on flue gas stream thus acting both as a CO2 capture and sequestration technology and as renewable energy storage mechanism. Reacting hydrogen is produced via water electrolysis powered by surplus of renewable energy, normally low-priced otherwise wasted. With a reference capacity factor around 4000 h/y, the resulting SNG cost is 0.34 €/Nm3 based on a carbon tax equal to 30 €/t CO2. The obtained results are attractive and consistent with the fact that future investment cost for water electrolysis is decreasing accordingly.  相似文献

Key features of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) are defects in the immune system and the ability of leukemic cells to evade immune defenses and induce immunosuppression, resulting in increased susceptibility to infections and disease progression. Several immune effectors are impaired in CLL, including T and natural killer (NK) cells. The role of T cells in defense against CLL and in CLL progression and immunotherapy has been extensively studied. Less is known about the role of NK cells in this leukemia, and data on NK cell alterations in CLL are contrasting. Besides studies showing that NK cells have intrinsic defects in CLL, there is a large body of evidence indicating that NK cell dysfunctions in CLL mainly depend on the escape mechanisms employed by leukemic cells. In keeping, it has been shown that NK cell functions, including antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), can be retained and/or restored after adequate stimulation. Therefore, due to their preserved ADCC function and the reversibility of CLL-related dysfunctions, NK cells are an attractive source for novel immunotherapeutic strategies in this disease, including chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) therapy. Recently, satisfying clinical responses have been obtained in CLL patients using cord blood-derived CAR-NK cells, opening new possibilities for further exploring NK cells in the immunotherapy of CLL. However, notwithstanding the promising results of this clinical trial, more evidence is needed to fully understand whether and in which CLL cases NK cell-based immunotherapy may represent a valid, alternative/additional therapeutic option for this leukemia. In this review, we provide an overview of the current knowledge about phenotypic and functional alterations of NK cells in CLL and the mechanisms by which CLL cells circumvent NK cell-mediated immunosurveillance. Additionally, we discuss the potential relevance of using NK cells in CLL immunotherapy.  相似文献

This paper concerns the patterns of food crop choice in a multicropping setting, in which production risk considerations and rainfall uncertainty are likely to be critical factors. The analysis employed plot level panel data from Ethiopia, combined with 30?year meteorological data corresponding to the survey villages used to construct seasonal and yearly rainfall variability. Using the single index approach, the riskiness of crop portfolio was constructed at a household level, taking into account the multicropping nature of the farming system. The combined riskiness of crops grown at a household level responded negatively to annual rainfall variability, with seasonal rainfall variability having a less consistent impact. Farmers are, therefore, more likely to select less risky crop portfolios even when intercrop interactions are taken into account.  相似文献

GeoPDEs (http://geopdes.sourceforge.net) is a suite of free software tools for applications on Isogeometric Analysis (IGA). Its main focus is on providing a common framework for the implementation of the many IGA methods for the discretization of partial differential equations currently studied, mainly based on B-Splines and Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines (NURBS), while being flexible enough to allow users to implement new and more general methods with a relatively small effort. This paper presents the philosophy at the basis of the design of GeoPDEs and its relation to a quite comprehensive, abstract definition of IGA.  相似文献

Wearable plasmonic devices combine the advantages of high flexibility, ultrathinness, light weight, and excellent integration with the optical benefits mediated by plasmon‐enhanced electric fields. However, two obstacles severely hinder further developments and applications of a wearable plasmonic device. One is the lack of efficient approach to obtaining devices with robust antimotion‐interference property, i.e., the devices can work independently on the morphology changes of their working structures caused by arbitrary wearing conditions. The other issue is to seek a facile and high‐throughput fabrication method to satisfy the financial requirement of industrialization. In order to overcome these two challenges, a functional flexible film of nanowire cluster is developed, which can be easily fabricated by taking the advantages of both conventional electrochemical and sputtering methods. Such flexible plasmonic films can be made into wearable devices that work independently on shape changes induced by various wearing conditions (such as bending, twisting and stretching). Furthermore, due to plasmonic advantages of color controlling and high sensitivity to environment changes, the flexible film of nanowire cluster can be used to fabricate wearable items (such as bracelet, clothes, bag, or even commercial markers), with the ability of wireless visualization for humidity sensing.  相似文献
