In this paper we present a collaborative filtering method which opens up the possibilities of traditional collaborative filtering in two aspects: (1) it enables joint recommendations to groups of users and (2) it enables the recommendations to be restricted to items similar to a set of reference items. By way of example, a group of four friends could request joint recommendations of films similar to “Avatar” or “Titanic”. In the paper, using experiments, we show that the traditional approach of collaborative filtering does not satisfactorily resolve the new possibilities contemplated; we also provide a detailed formulation of the method proposed and an extensive set of experiments and comparative results which show the superiority of designed collaborative filtering compared to traditional collaborative filtering in: (a) number of recommendations obtained, (b) quality of the predictions, (c) quality of the recommendations. The South Atlantic Ocean near the Río de la Plata Estuary is a highly dynamic region that encompasses four different water bodies: the Río de la Plata, the continental shelf and the Brazil and Malvinas currents. Bio-optical measurements obtained during 6–11 November 1999 provided the initial field data for validating Sea viewing Wide Field of view Sensor (SeaWiFS)-derived chlorophyll imagery for this region. The turbid waters of the Río de la Plata Estuary showed the highest variability and complexity in water optical properties, while the offshore waters of the Brazil Current had the lowest. In most cases, the estimates of chlorophyll using the SeaWiFS algorithm were higher than in situ measured values. 相似文献
The effect of drying methods on chitosan reactivity towards Maillard reaction during storage of dried chitosan–lactose systems was investigated. Two different structural forms of chitosan, scaffold and microspheres, were prepared. Then they were dried by lyophilization or using supercritical fluid technology (SF-CO2) and stored with lactose under controlled temperature conditions (60 °C) and water activity (aw = 0.65). The drying method produced slight modifications on the chitosan structure especially in samples submitted to SF-CO2 treatment. Differences were more evident in the reactivity of chitosan–lactose systems during storage. Maillard reaction development was assessed by quantification of a new compound which originated from the acid hydrolysis of Amadori compounds (NFMD) resulting from chitosan–lactose interactions, and not detected in the acid hydrolysates of freshly prepared chitosan-lactose systems. Maillard reaction was influenced by different factors such as the manner of lactose addition, structure of chitosan (microspheres and scaffolds) and drying method. Lyophilized chitosan in the form of microspheres with lactose, presented the highest values of NFMD (428.45 mg/100 g of sample). Associations of sodium intake with heart‐related problems are creating awareness towards reducing sodium. Potassium chloride (KCl), a substitute for sodium chloride (NaCl), has the disadvantage of imparting bitterness at high concentrations. We evaluated physical characteristics, taste perception and purchase intent of KCl and NaCl in oil‐in‐water spreads/emulsions composed by olive, rice bran and soya bean oils. Consumers (N = 300) evaluated saltiness/bitterness of emulsions prepared with 65% oil, and NaCl (0.5% and 1.0%) or KCl (0.75% and 1.5%). Olive oil spreads (104.07–107.43 Pa s) had higher viscosity compared to other spreads (59.16–74.96 Pa s). Type of oil had significant effects on bitterness, overall taste liking and viscosity. Taste liking decreased due to bitterness of olive oil spreads (mean drop=1.72–2.43). Purchase intent was positively associated with saltiness and pH and increased with oil claims (increase = 1.3%–22.1%) compared to sodium claims (increase = 0.0%–12.9%). High-order statistics (HOS) are well suited for describing non-Gaussian random processes. These techniques are increasingly being employed in myoelectric research, on both time and frequency domain techniques. This work presents HOS-based techniques using only HOS time domain features to classify myoelectric signals. The auto-, cross- and full- (joint) third-order cumulants are evaluated as EMG-signal feature vectors to be compared between them. Four surface EMG signals were processed for classify motions from the upper limbs. Synergy among channels is characterized by the features in both auto and cross modes, and their incidences for classifying five or six movements are analyzed. In contrast to the third-order auto-cumulants, it had been verified that the third-order cross-cumulants have the same classification rate by working with five or six movements. A myoelectric control scheme and its experimental application were executed with normal and disabled subjects, reaching a classification rates of 90%, in average. Accuracy in online experiments was similar to the off-line classification rate.
A set of seven extraction experiments was performed to investigate the influence of pressure cycles on the kinetics of solute removal from leaves of mate dispersed in water. The mass ratio of liquid to dry solid (40), the temperature (32°C), and time of extraction (3600?s) were not varied. Five extraction runs were under cyclic pressurization (1?cycle?=?300?s at 91.4?kPa?+?300?s at 182.8?kPa) and stirring speeds (S) of 0, 150, 500, 1500, and 2000?rpm, while the two other ones were at constant pressure (182.8?kPa) and S close to 1500 and 2000?rpm. Based on seven pairs of parameters of a reliable second-order kinetic model (R2?≥?0.967), cyclic pressurization had no effect on equilibrium and kinetics of extraction (p?>?0.05) when the role of convection on solute transfer was negligible (S?≥?500?rpm). In the stirring speed range from 500 to 2000?rpm, the operation was controlled by diffusion (Bi >?1.7?×?103), so a transient two-dimensional diffusion model was able to describe correctly the changes of solute concentration with time. Below 500?rpm, solute transfer was governed by a combination of diffusion and convection with the external resistance to mass transfer as a function of S (16?≤?Bi?≤?28). 相似文献
Chryseobacterium meningosepticum is an uncommon human pathogen, which is an inhabitant of soil and water. It should be included in the list of suspected nosocomial infections, especially in patients with immunocompromised status. C. meningosepticum infections are not common but are clinically important because the organism is naturally resistant to multiple antibiotics. We report a case where the bacterium was isolated from the pleural fluid from a chronic kidney disease patient on hemodialysis, who developed pneumonia with complicated parapneumonic effusion. To the best of our knowedge, this is the first case where C. meningosepticum is isolated from the pleural effusion, from India. 相似文献
Poly(styrene-divinylbenzene) monoliths have been hypercrosslinked using a Fe3+ catalyzed Friedel–Crafts reaction involving three external crosslinkers (1) 4,4′-bis(chloromethyl)-1,1′-biphenyl, (2) α,α′-dichloro-p-xylene, and (3) formaldehyde dimethyl acetal. The first crosslinker was found to produce monoliths with the best chromatographic performance. The effects of a number of variables affecting the hypercrosslinking reaction were studied in detail. These variables included: (i) the temperature and time used for polymerization of the precursor monoliths, (ii) the amount and loading procedure of the external crosslinker and catalyst, and, (iii) the temperature and reaction time of the Friedel–Crafts alkylation. Polymers with extremely large surface areas reaching up to 900 m2/g were obtained using a precursor monolith polymerized for only 2.5 h, and hypercrosslinked with 4,4’-bis(chloromethyl)-1,1′-biphenyl. The increased performance of monoliths modified using this new procedure is comparable to the performance obtained with monolithic polymers containing chloromethylstyrene. However, the preparation of the poly(styrene-divinylbenzene) precursor is simpler than that of conterparts containing chloromethylstyrene. The hypercrosslinked monoliths in capillary columns were tested in an isocratic reversed phase liquid chromatography separation using a mixture comprised of acetone and six alkylbenzenes. Column efficiencies for retained analytes exceeded 70,000 plates/m. 相似文献
