Polymeric (PMMA) ultrahydrophobic surfaces with contact angles up to about 170° have been fabricated and used in the context of synchrotron radiation experiments on biological droplets. The different microfabrication processes included either an optical lithography phase followed by a plasma texturing one or a single step deep reactive ion etch attack.The drying of several biological solution droplets has been monitored. Room temperature evaporation experiments (lysozyme, lactalbumin, cytochrome C, doxorubicin and synthesized peptides) finally result in the formation of easily detachable hollow residuals because of the low interaction between the ultrahydrophobic substrate and the aqueous droplet while pilot experiments (bovine insulin) in a sitting-drop environment bring to the formation of well defined crystals. Recent results about in situ X-ray diffraction experiments by SAXS & WAXS (Small and Wide Angle X-ray Scattering) μ-beam techniques confirm that the presence of such surfaces influences the formation of crystal or fibril structures. These substrates represent indeed a suitable support to study biological and inorganic droplets in a near contact-free environment exploiting the homogeneous evaporation rate induced by the ultrahydrophobicity of the system.  相似文献

High performance liquid chromatography (h.p.l.c.) was used to characterise and quantify fructose and glucose in seven members of the Cucurbitaceae family. The h.p.l.c. system consisted of a μ-Bondapak/Carbohydrate packed column, a solvent system of acetonitrile-water (800 ml l?-1) with a flow rate of 2.5 ml min?-1, and a refractive index detector. The analysis, including sample preparation, was completed in less than 45 min. The quantities of fructose and glucose obtained were, except for one sample, <1% on a fresh weight basis, and the glucose: fructose ratios ranged from 0.41:1 to 0.93:1.  相似文献

Self-Assembly Monolayers (SAMs) are considered a promising route for solving technological hindrances (such as bias-stress, contact resistance, charge trapping) affecting the electrical performances of the Organic Field-Effect Transistors (OFETs). Here we use an OFET based on pentacene thin film to investigate the charge transport across conjugated SAMs at the Au/pentacene interface. We synthesized a homolog series of π-conjugated molecules, termed Tn-C8-SH, consisting of a n-unit oligothienyl Tn (n = 1…4) bound to an octane-1-thiol (C8-SH) chain that self-assembles on the Au electrodes. The multi-parametric response of such devices yields an exponential behavior of the field-effect mobility (μ), current density (J), and total resistivity (R), due to the SAM at the charge injection interface (i.e. Au-SAM-pentacene). The surface treatment of the OFETs induces a clear stabilization of different parameters, like sub-threshold slope and threshold voltage, thanks to standardized steps in the fabrication process.  相似文献

The 2D semiconductor MoS2 in its mono‐ and few‐layer form is expected to have a significant exciton binding energy of several 100 meV, suggesting excitons as the primary photoexcited species. Nevertheless, even single layers show a strong photovoltaic effect and work as the active material in high sensitivity photodetectors, thus indicating efficient charge carrier photogeneration. Here, modulation spectroscopy in the sub‐ps and ms time scales is used to study the photoexcitation dynamics in few‐layer MoS2. The results suggest that the primary photoexcitations are excitons that efficiently dissociate into charges with a characteristic time of 700 fs. Based on these findings, simple suggestions for the design of efficient MoS2 photovoltaic and photodetector devices are made.  相似文献

This paper presents the design of a high dynamic range direct down-converter for 3G cell-phone applications. The mechanisms responsible for second-order intermodulation distortion are discussed in details, leading to the following design strategy: the transconductor is degenerated by means of an RC filter, an LC network resonating at RF frequency loads the switching pair and carefully matched resistors are used in the output load. Prototypes realized in 0.18 μm CMOS show: +78 dBm IIP2 minimum among 40 samples, +10 dBm IIP3, 4 nV/√Hz input-referred noise density while burning only 4 mA from 1.8 V.  相似文献

As technology scales toward deep submicron, the integration of a large number of IP blocks on the same silicon die is becoming technically feasible, thus enabling large-scale parallel computations, such as those required for multimedia workloads. The communication architecture is becoming the bottleneck for these multiprocessor Systems-on-Chip (SoC), and efficient contention resolution schemes for managing simultaneous access requests to the shared communication resources are required to prevent system performance degradation. The contribution of this work is to analyze the impact on multiprocessor SoC performance of different bus arbitration policies under different communication patterns, showing the distinctive features of each policy and the strong correlation of their effectiveness with the communication requirements of the applications. Beyond traditional arbitration schemes such as round robin and TDMA, another policy is considered that periodically allocates a temporal slot for contention-free bus utilization to a processor which needs fixed predictable bandwidth for the correct execution of its time-critical task. The results are derived on a complete and scalable multiprocessor SoC simulation platform based on SystemC, whose software support includes a complete embedded multiprocessor OS (RTEMS). The communication architecture is AMBA compliant, and we exploit the flexibility of this multi-master commercial standard, which does not specify the arbitration algorithm, to implement the explored contention resolution schemes.  相似文献

A system is presented to jointly achieve image watermarking and compression. The watermark is a fragile one being intended for authentication purposes. The watermarked and compressed images are fully compliant with the JPEG-LS standard, the only price to pay being a slight reduction of compression efficiency and an additional distortion that can be anyway tuned to grant a maximum preset error. Watermark detection is possible both in the compressed and in the pixel domain, thus increasing the flexibility and usability of the system. The system is expressly designed to be used in remote sensing and telemedicine applications, hence we designed it in such a way that the maximum compression and watermarking error can be strictly controlled (near-lossless compression and watermarking). Experimental results show the ability of the system to detect tampering and to limit the peak error between the original and the processed images.  相似文献

Label-free DNA detection plays a crucial role in developing point-of-care biochips. Capacitance detection is a promising technology for label-free detection. However, data published in literature often show evident time drift, large standard deviation, scattered data points, and poor reproducibility. To address these problems, mercapto-hexanol or similar alkanethiols are usually considered as blocking agents. The aim of the present paper is to investigate new blocking agents to further improve DNA probe surfaces. Data from AFM, SPR, florescence microscopy, and capacitance measurements are used to investigate new lipoate and ethylene-glycol molecules. The new surfaces offer further improvements in terms of diminished detection errors. Film structures are investigated at the nano-scale to justify the detection improvements in terms of probe surface quality. This study demonstrates the superiority of lipoate and ethylene-glycol molecules as blocking candidates when immobilizing molecular probes onto spot surfaces in label-free DNA biochip.  相似文献

Investigation on the behavior of nematic liquid crystals on functionalized polar dielectric crystal substrates is accomplished. Very interesting effects can be observed in maneuvering liquid crystal droplets on the substrate surface, driven by electric fields generated by pyroelectric effect. Reversible drops fragmentation and self‐assembling in different configurations can be achieved. The dynamics of the observed phenomena is studied and the repeatability of the process is full assessed.  相似文献
