A brief survey of the chemical structural analogies and differences between graphite oxide and fullerene ozopolymers or polymeric fullerene oxides (PFO) is presented. Graphite oxide is the product of oxidation of graphite prepared with strong oxidizing agents while PFO is the products formed by prolonged ozonation of C60 or C70 in solution. Notwithstanding the different starting substrates and oxidation conditions, elemental analyses, FT-IR spectroscopy and 13C-NMR spectroscopy suggest a very similar chemical structure for graphite oxide and PFO. A further analogy is the possibility to perform reduction or oxidation reactions on both substrates considered. Graphite oxide and PFO have also in common the ability to act as ion exchangers and as metal ion binders. Even the thermal behavior is comparable. However, X-ray powder diffraction has confirmed that graphite oxide still has a layered structure derived from graphite but with the graphene sheets at much bigger distance from each other due to the intercalation of oxidized groups and solvent molecules, while PFO do not show at all any sign of layered structure either from the X-ray spectra and also by its behavior in solution which is strikingly different from that shown by graphite oxide.  相似文献

The polyynes produced by the electric arc between graphite electrodes submerged in hexane are readily reduced to a mixture of polyenes and ene-ynes by a treatment with Zn dust and hydrochloric acid. Experimental evidences of this reduction reaction are presented by electronic absorption spectroscopy, FT-IR spectroscopy, and HPLC analysis with diode-array detector. Some consequences of this simple passage from polyynes to ene-ynes are briefly discussed in a biochemical context.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the role of tumor persistence in patients submitted to irradiation therapy and radical hysterectomy. DESIGN: A retrospective analysis of prognostic factors. LOCATION: Hospital A.C. Camargo, S?o Paulo, Brazil, a private non-profitmaking foundation and tertiary referral centre. PATIENTS: A total of 629 cases of invasive squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix were studied. Criteria for inclusion in the study were: confirmed histological diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma and no previous treatment (except for preoperative radiotherapy carried out at the Hospital A.C. Camargo itself). At the end of the follow-up period, 410 patients (65%) had no evidence of disease and 219 (34.8%) had died because of the tumor. INTERVENTION: The patients were submitted to radical surgery and radiation therapy, separately or in combination between 1953 and 1982. MAIN OUTCOMES MEASURES: Multivariate analysis of the different variables was performed according to the Cox regression method. RESULTS: The variables of prognostic value were, in decreasing order of importance: the decade of patient admission (p = 0.0001), the modality of therapy employed (p = 0.0005), the presence of residual tumor in the surgical specimens (p = 0.0055) and the clinical stage of the disease (p = 0.0575). CONCLUSION: Radiation therapy controlled a considerable number of local tumors and pelvic lymph nodes but not all of them in every patient. There is a specific group of patients for whom radical surgery is necessary to achieve control of the disease.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The chemical composition of Amazonian fish is extremely variable, being influenced by the season and the type and amount of food. A special interest in the fish oil composition has been developed owing to the presence of essential fatty acids, since this is directly related to human health. This study aimed to investigate the fatty acid composition (FAC) of the total lipid (TL), neutral lipid (NL) and phospholipid (PL) fractions of the dorsal muscle and orbital cavity of farmed and wild matrinxã in the Amazon area captured in different seasons. RESULTS: Fatty acids (FA) were analysed by high‐resolution gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. Sixty‐five FA were detected in the TL, 66 in the NL and 55 in the PL. The main FA found in farmed and wild fish were oleic, palmitic, stearic and linoleic acids. No distinctions in the quality or quantity of these fractions between dorsal muscle and orbital cavity were found. CONCLUSION: The season had a significant influence on the TL and FAC. Fish captured during the dry season showed lower levels of lipid and a higher percentage of long‐chain polyunsaturated fatty acids. Matrinxã farmed in a semi‐intensive system showed a nutritional quality comparable to that of wild matrinxã captured in the wet season. Copyright © 2007 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

A multilayer solid state device which is both an active target and tracking detector is proposed for an electronic experiment investigating the so-called anomalons and studying their production mechanism, interaction cross-section and lifetime. The experimental method is based on triggering the reinteractions in two targets of heavy fragments, originated in a production target by a relativistic ion beam. This method greatly increases the sensitivity to the anomalon's effect when compared to other proposed electronic experiments. Solid state devices seem to provide a resolving technique for the study of these short-lived states among high-multiplicity final systems.  相似文献

In this research acrylamide reduction in potato chips was investigated in relation to blanching and asparaginase immersion treatments before final frying. Potatoes slices (Verdi variety, diameter: 40 mm, thickness: 2.0 mm) were fried at 170 °C for 5 min (final moisture content of ∼2.0 g/100 g). Prior to frying, potato slices were treated in one of the following ways: (i) Rinsing in distilled water (control I); (ii) Rinsing in distilled water plus blanching in hot water at 85 °C for 3.5 min; (iii) Rinsing in distilled water plus immersion in an asparaginase solution (10000 ASNU/L) at 50 °C for 20 min; (iv) Rinsing in distilled water plus blanching in hot water at 85 °C for 3.5 min plus immersion in an asparaginase solution (10000 ASNU/L) at 50 °C for 20 min; (v) Rinsing in distilled water plus blanching in hot water at 85 °C for 3.5 min plus immersion in distilled water at 50 °C for 20 min (control II). Blanching in hot water (ii) was almost as effective as asparaginase potato immersion (iii) in order to diminish acrylamide formation in potato chips (acrylamide reduction was ∼17% of the initial acrylamide concentration). When potato slices were blanched before asparaginase immersion, the acrylamide content of the resultant potato chips was reduced considerably by almost 90%. We have demonstrated that blanching of potato slices plus asparaginase treatment is an effective combination for acrylamide mitigation during frying. It seems to be that blanching provokes changes in the microstructure of potato tissue leading to an easier and more effective diffusion of asparaginase.  相似文献

An electrically switchable graphene terahertz (THz) modulator with a tunable-by-design optical bandwidth is presented and it is exploited to compensate the cavity dispersion of a quantum cascade laser (QCL). Electrostatic gating is achieved by a metal grating used as a gate electrode, with an HfO2/AlOx gate dielectric on top. This is patterned on a polyimide layer, which acts as a quarter wave resonance cavity, coupled with an Au reflector underneath. The authors achieve 90% modulation depth of the intensity, combined with a 20 kHz electrical bandwidth in the 1.9–2.7 THz range. The modulator is then integrated with a multimode THz QCL. By adjusting the modulator operational bandwidth, the authors demonstrate that the graphene modulator can partially compensate the QCL cavity dispersion, resulting in an integrated laser behaving as a stable frequency comb over 35% of the operational range, with 98 equidistant optical modes and a spectral coverage ~1.2 THz. This paves the way for applications in the terahertz, such as tunable transformation-optics devices, active photonic components, adaptive and quantum optics, and metrological tools for spectroscopy at THz frequencies.  相似文献
