The results of a study to develop a high temperature dielectric lens antenna for use in the microwave frequency range are presented. The design and fabrication of spherical and hemispherical constant-index lenses are described. Radiation patterns, gain, polarization, and VSWR characteristics of spherical and hemispherical constant-index dielectric lens antennas over the frequency range from 2 to 11 GHz are presented. The results from high-power testing of both spherical and hemispherical constant-index lenses at a 2 kW average power level indicate that this power level causes no degradation in the performance of the lenses.  相似文献

A simple equivalent circuit of the edge coupled microstrip ring resonator is developed based on both circuit and electromagnetic theory. The new model extends the work done by previous authors by including the effects of radiation loss, the coupling gap and the feed network as well as extending the frequency range by including higher-order modes. The model accurately predicts the resonant frequencies of the ring including the effects of dispersion and thick conductors. The equivalent circuit allows measurement of the resonance frequencies and the Q factors to be made independently of the coupling gap dimensions, which traditionally have been difficult to accurately model. A method of determining radiation loss is also presented, which has often been incorrectly neglected in the past. Experimental results support the accuracy of the equations and measurements on alumina rings that demonstrate a frequency accuracy of better than 1% over 12 resonant modes in the frequency range 3-33 GHz.  相似文献

Imidazolines have been used for many years as corrosion inhibitors in the oil and gas industry. However, the mechanism of corrosion inhibition, the inter-relationship between surfactant adsorption and corrosion inhibition, and the main characteristic factors determining surfactant adsorption in aqueous medium have been rarely reported. This article uses recently developed methodology and equations to describe the interrelationship between the surfactant adsorption and corrosion inhibition. The main factors, such as the surfactant concentration, functional group, hydrophobic chain length, environment, etc., affecting corrosion inhibition, are discussed as well. A reasonable prediction model is developed to predict corrosion inhibition based on this method, which can be applied to relevant industrial uses of corrosion inhibition.  相似文献

Volumetric magnetic resonance imaging has become a routine investigation in the management of patients with chronic partial epilepsy. However, even with the use of reformatted images, an underlying cause for epilepsy cannot be found in many of these patients. We show that further processing of the data, including three-dimensional reconstruction and quantitative analysis of the volume and complexity of the images in three dimensions, reveals additional positive information in up to 75% of patients. This may be useful for surgical planning, prognostication, and understanding of the structure and development of the human brain.  相似文献

The new synthetic oleanane triterpenoid 2-cyano-3,12-dioxoolean-1,9-dien-28-oic acid (CDDO) is a potent, multifunctional molecule. It induces monocytic differentiation of human myeloid leukemia cells and adipogenic differentiation of mouse 3T3-L1 fibroblasts and enhances the neuronal differentiation of rat PC12 pheochromocytoma cells caused by nerve growth factor. CDDO inhibits proliferation of many human tumor cell lines, including those derived from estrogen receptor-positive and -negative breast carcinomas, myeloid leukemias, and several carcinomas bearing a Smad4 mutation. Furthermore, it suppresses the abilities of various inflammatory cytokines, such as IFN-gamma, interleukin-1, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha, to induce de novo formation of the enzymes inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNos) and inducible cyclooxygenase (COX-2) in mouse peritoneal macrophages, rat brain microglia, and human colon fibroblasts. CDDO will also protect rat brain hippocampal neurons from cell death induced by beta-amyloid. The above activities have been found at concentrations ranging from 10(-6) to 10(-9) M in cell culture, and these results suggest that CDDO needs further study in vivo, for either chemoprevention or chemotherapy of malignancy as well as for neuroprotection.  相似文献
