An analytical model of the scattering structure factor for an assembly of noninteracting hard disks has recently appeared in the literature [Phys. Rev. A 42, 5978-5989 (1990)]. We employ this model to calculate correlated light scattering by monodispersions and binary mixtures of condensation droplets on a window pane. We find that an area fraction of ? ≥ 0.6 is required for producing the near-forward direction scattering suppression and that a moderately wide polydispersion of droplet sizes is capable of producing the experimentally observed bright ring of colored light. 相似文献

Modern businesses are facing the challenge of effectively coordinating their supply chains from upstream to downstream services. It is a complex problem to search, schedule, and coordinate a set of services from a large number of service resources under various constraints and uncertainties. Existing approaches to this problem have relied on complete information regarding service requirements and resources, without adequately addressing the dynamics and uncertainties of the environments. The real-world situations are complicated as a result of ambiguity in the requirements of the services, the uncertainty of solutions from service providers, and the interdependencies among the services to be composed. This paper investigates the complexity of supply chain formation and proposes an agent-mediated coordination approach. Each agent works as a broker for each service type, dedicated to selecting solutions for each service as well as interacting with other agents in refining the decision making to achieve compatibility among the solutions. The coordination among agents concerns decision making at strategic, tactical, and operational level. At the strategic level, agents communicate and negotiate for supply chain formation; at the tactical level, argumentation is used by agents to communicate and understand the preferences and constraints of each other; at the operational level, different strategies are used for selecting the preferences. Comparison of image reconstruction by using near‐field and far‐field data for an imperfect conductor
Image reconstruction by using near‐field and far‐field data for an imperfectly conducting cylinder is investigated. A conducting cylinder of unknown shape and conductivity scatters the incident wave in free space and the scattered near and far fields are measured. By using measured fields, the imaging problem is reformulated into an optimization problem and solved by the genetic algorithm. Numerical results show that the convergence speed and final reconstructed results by using near‐field data are better than those obtained by using far‐field data. A low-power fullband 802.11a/b/g WLAN transceiver in 0.15-mum CMOS technology is described. The zero-IF transceiver achieves a receiver noise figure of 4.4/4 dB for the 2.4-GHz/5-GHz bands, respectively. The corresponding sensitivity at 54-Mb/s operation is -72 dBm for 802.11g and -74 dBm for 802.11a using actual PER measurement. An on-chip PA delivers 20 dBm output P1-dB. A new I/Q compensation scheme is implemented in local oscillator (LO) and an image rejection of better than 52 dB is observed. The transmitter delivers 10/1.5 dBm (2.4-/5-GHz) EVM-compliant output power for a 64-QAM OFDM signal at 54-Mb/s. The power consumption is 117/135 mW (1.8-V) in the receive mode and 570/233.1 mW in the transmit mode for 2.4/5 GHz, respectively. A novel energy‐retaining power supply for AC arc welding machines is proposed in this paper. In this kind of power supply, current‐steering diodes connected across the output chokes keep the inductor current continuous and retain the energy during the commutation period, hence reducing the commutation time to ensure a better welding performance. In addition, the stored energy can be released in the next energy transfer cycle to raise the conversion efficiency. The circuit operations and design procedures are likewise examined thoroughly. Experimental results on a prototype inverter for driving a 100‐A AC arc welding machine are recorded to validate the effectiveness of the presented scheme. A Ka-band planar three-way power divider which uses the coupled line instead of the transmission line is proposed to reduce chip size. The proposed planar topology, different from the conventional Wilkinson power divider, is analyzed and can provide not only compact but also dc block characteristics, which are very suitable for monolithic microwave integrated circuit applications. The divider implemented by a pHEMT process shows an insertion loss less than 5.1 dB and an output isolation better than 17 dB. A return loss less than 18 dB and a phase difference of 4.2deg at 30 GHz can be achieved. Finally, good agreements between the simulation and experimental results are shown. 相似文献

The solid‐state packing and polymer orientation relative to the substrate are key properties to control in order to achieve high charge carrier mobilities in organic field effect transistors (OFET). Intuitively, shorter side chains are expected to yield higher charge carrier mobilities because of a denser solid state packing motif and a higher ratio of charge transport moieties. However our findings suggest that the polymer chain orientation plays a crucial role in high‐performing diketopyrrolopyrrole‐based polymers. By synthesizing a series of DPP‐based polymers with different branched alkyl side chain lengths, it is shown that the polymer orientation depends on the branched alkyl chain lengths and that the highest carrier mobilities are obtained only if the polymer adopts a mixed face‐on/edge‐on orientation, which allows the formation of 3D carrier channels in an otherwise edge‐on‐oriented polymer chain network. Time‐of‐flight measurements performed on the various polymer films support this hypothesis by showing higher out‐of‐plane carrier mobilities for the partially face‐on‐oriented polymers. Additionally, a favorable morphology is mimicked by blending a face‐on polymer into an exclusively edge‐on oriented polymer, resulting in higher charge carrier mobilities and opening up a new avenue for the fabrication of high performing OFET devices. 相似文献

Using nonbinary low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes with random-coset mapping, Bennatan and Burshtein constructed bandwidth-efficient modulation codes with remarkable performance under belief propagation (BP) decoding. However, due to the random nature of LDPC codes, most of the good LDPC codes found in the literature do not have a simple encoding structure. Thus, the encoding complexity of those LDPC codes can be as high as O(N 2), where N is the codeword length. To reduce the encoding complexity, in this paper, nonbinary irregular repeat-accumulate (IRA) codes with time-varying characteristic and random-coset mapping are proposed for bandwidth-efficient modulation schemes. The time-varying characteristic and random-coset mapping result in both permutation-invariance and symmetry properties, respectively, in the densities of decoder messages. The permutation-invariance and symmetry properties of the proposed codes enable the approximations of densities of decoder messages using Gaussian distributions. Under the Gaussian approximation, extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) charts for nonbinary IRA codes are developed and several codes of different spectral efficiencies are designed based on EXIT charts. In addition, by proper selection of nonuniform signal constellations, the constructed codes are inherently capable of obtaining shaping gains, even without separate shaping codes. Simulation results indicate that the proposed codes not only have simple encoding schemes, but also have remarkable performance that is even better than that constructed using nonbinary LDPC codes. 相似文献

This paper derives the asymptotic symbol error rate (SER) and outage probability of decode‐and‐forward (DF) cooperative communications over Rician fading channels. How to optimally allocate the total power is also addressed when the performance metric in terms of SER or outage probability is taken into consideration. Analysis reveals the insights that Rician factor has a great impact on the system performance as compared with the channel variance, and the relay–destination channel quality is of importance. In addition, the source–relay channel condition is irrelevant to the optimal power allocation design. Simulation and numerical evaluation substantiate the tightness of the asymptotic expressions in the high‐SNR regions and demonstrate the accuracy of our theoretical analysis.
