The effect of aspect ratio on the degree of bed expansion in particulate fluidization has been studied. For unicomponent solid systems of crushed particles with water as the fluidizing medium, the degree of bed expansion is independent of aspect ratio. Coal and limestone have been taken as the solid while aspect ratio has been varied from 1.10 to 4.67. The result is in full conformity with previous work with steel balls.  相似文献

A study has been carried out on a-Si:H solar cell materials fabricated under a wide range of deposition conditions in different laboratories. The results on both thin films and corresponding Schottky barrier cell structures demonstrate that analysis and characterization based solely on the neutral dangling bonds are clearly inadequate. Contributions of charged defects to the properties of a-Si:H, their effect on light-induced changes are identified together with the limitations of methods commonly used to characterize the solar cell properties and stability of a-Si:H materials. Self-consistent fitting of a wide range of results on films and Schottky barrier cell structures is obtained with a gap state distribution in which charged defects are included.  相似文献

The generation of multi-decade long Earth System Data Records (ESDRs) of Leaf Area Index (LAI) and Fraction of Photosynthetically Active Radiation absorbed by vegetation (FPAR) from remote sensing measurements of multiple sensors is key to monitoring long-term changes in vegetation due to natural and anthropogenic influences. Challenges in developing such ESDRs include problems in remote sensing science (modeling of variability in global vegetation, scaling, atmospheric correction) and sensor hardware (differences in spatial resolution, spectral bands, calibration, and information content). In this paper, we develop a physically based approach for deriving LAI and FPAR products from the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) data that are of comparable quality to the Moderate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) LAI and FPAR products, thus realizing the objective of producing a long (multi-decadal) time series of these products. The approach is based on the radiative transfer theory of canopy spectral invariants which facilitates parameterization of the canopy spectral bidirectional reflectance factor (BRF). The methodology permits decoupling of the structural and radiometric components and obeys the energy conservation law. The approach is applicable to any optical sensor, however, it requires selection of sensor-specific values of configurable parameters, namely, the single scattering albedo and data uncertainty. According to the theory of spectral invariants, the single scattering albedo is a function of the spatial scale, and thus, accounts for the variation in BRF with sensor spatial resolution. Likewise, the single scattering albedo accounts for the variation in spectral BRF with sensor bandwidths. The second adjustable parameter is data uncertainty, which accounts for varying information content of the remote sensing measurements, i.e., Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI, low information content), vs. spectral BRF (higher information content). Implementation of this approach indicates good consistency in LAI values retrieved from NDVI (AVHRR-mode) and spectral BRF (MODIS-mode). We report the structure and emission properties of ternary (In,Ga)N nanowires (NWs) embedded with self‐assembled quantum dots (SAQDs). InGaN NWs are fabricated by the reaction of In, Ga and NH3 via a vapor–liquid–solid (VLS) mechanism, using Au as the catalyst. By simply varying the growth temperature, In‐rich or Ga‐rich ternary NWs have been produced. X‐ray diffraction, Raman studies and transmission electron microscopy reveal a phase‐separated microstructure wherein the isovalent heteroatoms are self‐aggregated, forming SAQDs embedded in NWs. The SAQDs are observed to dominate the emission behavior of both In‐rich and Ga‐rich NWs. Temperature‐dependent photoluminescence (PL) measurements indicate relaxation of excited electrons from the matrix of the Ga‐rich NWs to their embedded SAQDs. A multi‐level band schema is proposed for the case of In‐rich NWs, which showed an anomalous enhancement in the PL peak intensity with increasing temperature accompanies with red shift in its peak position.  相似文献

This paper presents the effect of open dumping of municipal solid waste (MSW) on soil characteristics in the mountainous region of Himachal Pradesh, India. The solid waste of dumpsite contains various complex characteristics with organic fractions of the highest proportions. As leachate percolates into the soil, it migrates contaminants into the soil and affects soil stability and strength. The study includes the geotechnical investigation of dump soil characteristics and its comparison with the natural soil samples taken from outside the proximity of dumpsites. The geochemical analysis of dumpsite soil samples was also carried out by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Visual inspection revealed that the MSW consists of high fraction of organics, followed by paper. The soil samples were collected from five trial pits in the dumpsites at depths of 0.5 m, 1 m and 1.5 m. Then the collected soil samples were subjected to specific gravity test, grain size analysis, Atterberg's limit test, compaction test, direct shear test, California bearing ratio (CBR) test and permeability analysis. The study indicated that the dumpsite soils from four study regions show decreasing trends in the values of maximum dry density (MDD), specific gravity, cohesion and CBR, and increasing permeability as compared to the natural soil. The results show that the geotechnical properties of the soils at all four study locations have been severely hampered due to contamination induced by open dumping of waste.  相似文献

In modal testing, an impulse is often used to excite the structure and a linear transducer is used to measure the response. For these impact tests, two signals are measured: the impulsive force and the vibration response. Any lack of synchronization in the time domain acquisition of the two signals results in a frequency-dependent phase error in the frequency response function, or FRF. However, knowledge of the time delay may be used to correct the corresponding phase error. In this research, tests were conducted to measure the frequency-dependent phase error for a capacitive sensor and a frequency domain technique is proposed to correct the FRF. The method was validated using an FRF measurement of a cylindrical artifact mounted in a milling machine spindle.  相似文献

Dissimilar joining of thin (~1 mm) 6111-T4 aluminium alloy and DC04 uncoated low carbon steel used in automobile structures was carried out using laser spot joining in conduction mode. Two sets of experiments were carried out, using copper and aluminium backing bars, respectively. The welds were produced in overlap configuration with steel on the top. The steel surface was irradiated by the laser, and the heat was conducted through the steel into the aluminium. Temperature at the interface was controlled using the fundamental laser energy parameters so that aluminium melts and wets the steel surface. Reaction between the two metallic alloys resulted in the formation of intermetallic compounds (IMC). The formation pattern of IMC was dependent on the temperature profile and the distribution across the interface and was thicker in the centre of the weld and thinner near the edges. The stoichiometry of the IMC formed was varied across the layer and was principally composed of two different layers of Fe2Al5 and FeAl3. Micro hardness tests were carried out to characterise the IMC layer. Mechanical shear tensile tests showed a maximum joint shear strength of up to 68 % of the shear strength of the aluminium alloy.  相似文献

Recent efforts by several researchers around the world to combine fractal geometry with electromagnetic theory have led to a plethora of new and innovative antenna designs. In this report, we provide a comprehensive overview of recent developments in the rapidly growing field of fractal antenna engineering. Fractal antenna engineering research has been primarily focused in two areas: the first deals with the analysis and design of fractal antenna elements, and the second concerns the application of fractal concepts to the design of antenna arrays. Fractals have no characteristic size, and are generally composed of many copies of themselves at different scales. These unique properties of fractals have been exploited in order to develop a new class of antenna-element designs that are multi-band and/or compact in size. On the other hand, fractal arrays are a subset of thinned arrays, and have been shown to possess several highly desirable properties, including multi-band performance, low sidelobe levels, and the ability to develop rapid beamforming algorithms based on the recursive nature of fractals. Fractal elements and arrays are also ideal candidates for use in reconfigurable systems. Finally, we provide a brief summary of recent work in the related area of fractal frequency-selective surfaces.  相似文献
