Over the last two decades, experimental data of the nature of species evolution profiles and ignition delays from rapid compression machines (RCMs) has been used to develop and validate chemical kinetic mechanisms at low-to-intermediate temperatures and elevated pressures. A significant portion of this overall dataset is from RCMs that had not employed a creviced piston to contain the roll-up vortex. The detrimental influence of the roll-up vortex and the thermokinetic interactions due to the resulting temperature non-homogeneity during the negative temperature coefficient (ntc) regime have been documented in the literature. However, the adequacy of the homogeneous modeling of RCMs without creviced pistons during reactive conditions has not been investigated. In this work, computational fluid dynamics simulations of an RCM without a creviced piston are conducted for autoignition of n-heptane over the entire ntc regime over a range compressed pressures from 5 to 18 bar. The results from the CFD simulations highlight the non-homogeneity of autoignition and reveal significant quantitative discrepancy in comparison to homogeneous modeling, particularly for the hot ignition delay in the ntc regime. Specifically, the roll-up vortex induced temperature non-homogeneity leads to diminution of the ntc behavior. The experimental data from RCMs without creviced piston needs to be taken with caution for quantitative validation and refinement of kinetic mechanism, particularly at conditions when ntc behavior is highly pronounced.  相似文献

To enhance the production of biohydrogen from biomass, various pretreatment methods play important role. In this study, effect of microwave irradiation on the culture was studied on biohydrogen production from Benincasa hispida (Petha) solid waste at different powers for a fixed interval of time. The highest power studied was 800 W with a frequency of 2450 MHz. The amount of soluble sugars found in the waste was 13.9 mg/L having the chemical oxygen demand (COD) of 3000 mg/L. Studies have been performed in batch reactors using mixed consortia and results were also compared with the reactor operated at the normal conditions i.e. without any inoculum pretreatment. Maximum hydrogen produced was 14 mmol H2 per mol of soluble sugar consumed in the reactor in which the inoculum was exposed to 320 W of microwave for 5 min. SEM analysis of this microwave pretreated culture was done.  相似文献

Zn0.9Cd0.1S nanoparticles doped with 0.005–0.24 M cobalt have been prepared by co-precipitation technique in ice bath at 280 K. For the cobalt concentration >0.18 M, XRD pattern shows unidentified phases along with Zn0.9Cd0.1S sphalerite phase. For low cobalt concentration (≤0.05 M) particle size, d XRD is ~3.5 nm, while for high cobalt concentration (>0.05 M) particle size decreases abruptly (~2 nm) as detected by XRD. However, TEM analysis shows the similar particle size (~3.5 nm) irrespective of the cobalt concentration. Local strain in the alloyed nanoparticles with cobalt concentration of 0.18 M increases ~46% in comparison to that of 0.05 M. Direct to indirect energy band-gap transition is obtained when cobalt concentration goes beyond 0.05 M. A red shift in energy band gap is also observed for both the cases. Nanoparticles with low cobalt concentrations were found to have paramagnetic nature with no antiferromagnetic coupling. A negative Curie–Weiss temperature of −75 K with antiferromagnetic coupling was obtained for the high cobalt concentration.  相似文献

As incorporation of RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) tags in a wide variety of applications increase, there is a need to ensure the security and privacy of the entity to which these tags are attached. Not surprisingly, this is a very active area as attested by the large number of related published research literature. Recently, the journal engineering applications of artificial intelligence published a paper by Chen and Deng (2009) where the authors propose a mutual authentication protocol for RFID. This protocol has fundamental flaws that can be readily taken advantage by a resourceful adversary. We identify and discuss these vulnerabilities and point out the characteristics of this protocol that exposes it to these vulnerabilities.  相似文献

In this paper, we computationally investigate the fundamental aspects of autoignition and subsequent combustion phenomena in low temperature combustion (LTC) engine environments using direct numerical simulations (DNS). In particular, the effects of thermal and equivalence ratio stratification on the autoignition and subsequent front propagation in high pressure and stratified hydrogen-air turbulent mixtures are studied using detailed chemistry. Depending on fuel injection timing, exhaust gas recirculation, and wall heat loss, different correlations between temperature (T) – equivalence ratio (?) fields can exist prior to the major heat release event. Here, we investigate three cases with different initial T? correlations: (A) a baseline case of a uniform composition with temperature inhomogeneities only, (B) uncorrelated T? fields, and (C) negatively-correlated T? fields. Numerical diagnostics are developed based on an appropriately defined Damköhler number to distinguish different modes of heat release. It is found that the majority of heat release in the baseline case and the uncorrelated case occurs during the front propagation in the form of both spontaneous ignition fronts as well as deflagration waves, whereas the negatively correlated case ignites predominantly homogeneously.  相似文献

A khoa variety popularly known as Danedar khoa, which has a very short life under ambient conditions, was studied for its shelf life at room and refrigerated temperatures under controlled conditions after packaging in a flexible material (poster paper/aluminium foil/low-density polyethylene [LDPE]). The samples were observed periodically for characteristics such as moisture content, peroxide value, titratable acidity and overall acceptability. Samples packed under nitrogen and stored under refrigeration were found to be distinctly superior in all respects.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose and investigate the characteristics of a fair queueing with service envelopes (FQSE) algorithm-a hierarchical fair-share scheduling algorithm for access networks based on a remote scheduling system such as Ethernet passive optical networks (EPON) or cable TV network. FQSE is designed to overcome the limiting factors of a typical remote scheduling system such as large control-plane delay, limited control-plane bandwidth, and significant queue switch-over overhead. The algorithm is based on a concept of service envelope-a function representing the fair allocation of resources based on a global network condition called satisfiability parameter (SP). We define properties of cousin-fairness and sibling-fairness and show the FQSE to be cousin-fair. FQSE is unique in that it is the only hierarchical algorithm that is simultaneously cousin-fair. Furthermore, we show the necessary techniques to adapt FQSE to variable-sized packet-based networks. We analyze FQSE performance in EPON serving 1024 independent queues and demonstrate FQSE's ability to provide guaranteed bandwidth to each queue and to share the excess bandwidth fairly.  相似文献

Recent advances in wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) technology are expected to facilitate bandwidth-intensive multicast applications. However, a single fiber (bundle) cut on such a network can disrupt the transmission of information to several destination nodes on a "light tree"-based multicast session. Thus, it is imperative to protect multicast sessions e.g., by reserving resources along backup trees. We show that, if a backup tree is directed-link-disjoint to its primary counterpart, then data loss can be prevented in the event of any single link failure. We provide mathematical formulations for efficient routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) of several multicast sessions (including their backup trees for dedicated protection) at a globally optimum cost. We present these formulations for networks equipped with two kinds of multicast-capable switch architectures: one using the opaque (O-E-O) approach and the other using transparent (all-optical) approach. We expand our formulations to accommodate sparse splitting constraints in a network, in which an optical splitter has limited splitting fanout and each node has a limited number of such splitters. We develop a profit-maximizing model that would enable a network operator to be judicious in selecting sessions and simultaneously routing the chosen ones optimally. We illustrate the solutions obtained from solving these optimization problem formulations for a representative-size network.  相似文献

GaN devices exhibit excellent potential for use in many RF applications. However, commercial acceptance of the technology has been hindered by the scarcity and non-statistical nature of reliability results. In this work we present a full device level reliability study of GaN-on-Si HFETs. Reliability results on this technology include three-temperature DC data that show an activation energy of 1.7 eV and an average failure time >107 h at 150 °C. Additionally, long duration DC lifetest (30 000 device hours) and RF lifetest (4000 device hours) results demonstrate a repeatable low drift process. Environmental tests such as autoclave and ESD demonstrate the ruggedness of the material system and technology. Finally, initial failure analysis is discussed.  相似文献
