Discovering precious metal‐free electrocatalysts exhibiting high activity and stability toward both the oxygen reduction (ORR) and the oxygen evolution (OER) reactions remains one of the main challenges for the development of reversible oxygen electrodes in rechargeable metal–air batteries and reversible electrolyzer/fuel cell systems. Herein, a highly active OER catalyst, Fe0.3Ni0.7OX supported on oxygen‐functionalized multi‐walled carbon nanotubes, is substantially activated into a bifunctional ORR/OER catalyst by means of additional incorporation of MnOX. The carbon nanotube‐supported trimetallic (Mn‐Ni‐Fe) oxide catalyst achieves remarkably low ORR and OER overpotentials with a low reversible ORR/OER overvoltage of only 0.73 V, as well as selective reduction of O2 predominantly to OH?. It is shown by means of rotating disk electrode and rotating ring disk electrode voltammetry that the combination of earth‐abundant transition metal oxides leads to strong synergistic interactions modulating catalytic activity. The applicability of the prepared catalyst for reversible ORR/OER electrocatalysis is evaluated by means of a four‐electrode configuration cell assembly comprising an integrated two‐layer bifunctional ORR/OER electrode system with the individual layers dedicated for the ORR and the OER to prevent deactivation of the ORR activity as commonly observed in single‐layer bifunctional ORR/OER electrodes after OER polarization.  相似文献

Spectral and photophysical properties of several phenalenone dyes were investigated in the dependence on a type of the polyurethane polymer matrix. The increase in polarity of the solid-state medium was shown to shift absorption and luminescence spectra to the low energy side. Effects of the substituents in the phenalenone chromophore on a Stokes shift value were studied. Photophysical properties of phenalenones were found out to be significantly dependent on the polymerization method of polymer matrices. Considerable growth in photostability of organic dyes was observed when the dyes were bonded covalently with a polymer chain.  相似文献

Ni-B and Ni-Nb-B alloys are produced by mechanical alloying of mixtures of Ni, Nb, and B powders. X-ray diffraction analysis of the alloys indicates the formation of Ni(B) and Ni(Nb, B) solid solutions with nanocrystalline structure. The phase composition of the alloys is studied at different stages of mechanical alloying, along with the thermal stability and the phase transformations on heating.  相似文献

Lake Tegel (Berlin, Germany) is controlled by two main inflows: inflow #1 (River Havel) is heavily phosphorus-laden, whereas inflow #2 is an artificial confluence that includes discharge from a municipal wastewater treatment plant distinguished by high levels of phosphorus and pharmaceuticals. To reduce the phosphorus load on the lake, a phosphorus elimination plant (PEP) is situated at inflow #2. Moreover, the two inflows are short-circuited by a pipeline that transfers part of the inflow #1 water to the PEP and finally releases it into inflow #2. The pipeline and the PEP have contributed to a continuous reduction in the total phosphorus concentration of Lake Tegel in the past 25 years. We investigate the question of whether the existing lake pipeline can also be used to reduce the amount of pharmaceuticals in Lake Tegel originating from inflow #2 by dilution with water from River Havel, by diverting part of inflow #2 around the lake, or by a combination of both strategies. The circulation pattern of Lake Tegel is complicated by complex bathymetry and numerous islands and is therefore highly sensitive to winds. We tested seven different management scenarios by hydrodynamic modeling for a period of 16 years with the two-dimensional version of the Princeton Ocean Model (POM). None of the scenarios provided a strategy optimal for both pharmaceuticals and phosphorus. Nonetheless, compound regimes, such as alternating the pipe flow direction or adding another pipeline, allowed the most abundant pharmaceutical (carbamazepine) to be reduced while maintaining the current phosphorus level. This study demonstrates the ability of immediate lake regulation measures to maintain water quality. In the case of Lake Tegel, the pipeline can be fully effective with regard to pharmaceuticals only in combination with additional efforts such as advanced pharmaceutical treatment of wastewater and/or phosphorus reduction in the River Havel catchment.  相似文献

We studied the pathway of cholesterol efflux from fibroblasts by testing plasma samples from obese and lean subjects. Plasma samples were incubated with [3H]cholesterol-labeled human skin fibroblasts for 1 h to ensure uniform labeling of all of the high density lipoprotein (HDL) subfractions. Supernatants were then transferred to unlabeled cells and the displacement of labeled cholesterol within HDL subfractions by unlabeled cellular cholesterol was analyzed in short-term experiments. Plasma samples of obese subjects were characterized by a lower content of total apolipoprotein A-I (apoA-I) and alpha1-HDL and a lower overall capacity to take up labeled cholesterol. In plasma of lean subjects, pre beta2-HDL and alpha1-HDL appeared to be the most active particles in the initial uptake of unlabeled cellular cholesterol. By contrast, in plasmas of obese subjects, the pre beta1-HDL appeared to be most active in taking up unlabeled cellular cholesterol and transferring [3H]cholesterol. There were negative correlations between body mass index (BMI) and apoA-I and alpha1-HDL concentrations, and with the apparent increments of cellular cholesterol uptake within pre beta2-HDL and alpha1-HDL, as well as with the overall capacity to promote cholesterol efflux. By contrast, BMI was positively correlated with the apparent increment in cellular cholesterol within pre beta1-HDL. While cholesterol efflux was correlated with total plasma apoA-1, there were no such correlations with the concentration of any individual HDL subfraction. We conclude that the pattern of cholesterol transfer between fibroblasts and high density lipoprotein particles is influenced by body fatness and may be a factor in the abnormal metabolism of HDL in obesity.  相似文献
