During the geological disposal of high-level waste, the nuclear glass is expected to be first hydrated in water vapor prior to liquid alteration. In the present work, we investigated the vapor hydration of the International simple glass (ISG) at 175°C and different relative humidities (60%, 80% and 98%). The glass hydration was investigated by nuclear reaction analysis (NRA) and Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy. The chemical and mineralogical compositions of the alteration products were studied using scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) and μ-Raman spectroscopy, respectively. The NRA results gave water diffusion coefficients of 2.31–7.34 × 10−21 m2/s, in good agreement with the literature data on borosilicate glasses altered in aqueous media. The glass hydration increased with relative humidity percentage and the SEM-EDS analysis showed a slight enrichment in Si and loss of Na in the hydrated glass layer compared with the pristine glass. The hydration rate of the ISG glass was little higher than that of the French SON68 glass hydrated using water vapor. The corrosion products were analcime, tobermorite, and calcite, which were typical of the SON68 glass hydrated in similar conditions.  相似文献

Over the last two decades, many studies have contributed to improving our understanding of the brittle failure mechanisms of boron carbide and provided a road map for inhibiting the underlying mechanisms and improving the mechanical response of boron carbide. This paper provides a review of the design and processing approaches utilized to address the amorphization and transgranular fracture of boron carbide, which are mainly based on what we have found through 9 years of work in the field of boron carbides as armor ceramics.  相似文献

Different samples of xTeO2.(25-y)B2O3.zV2O5.yYb2O3 (or TBVY) new glass material were synthesized by the classical melt-quenching method. Structural, optical, physical, and thermal analyses of the synthesized glasses were performed in addition to Monte Carlo simulation to test radiation shielding properties. The results showed that increasing ratios of Yb2O3 (y = 0.0, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 mol%) produced monotonic density values of the synthesized glasses ranging from 4.70058 g cm?3 to 5.01038 g cm?3. XRD and FTIR analyses were used to confirm the glass structure of all samples. Optical transmittance and absorption parameters varied almost monotonically with increasing ratios of Yb2O3 indicating the ability to predict and control these properties using Yb2O3 additive. Furthermore, simulated radiation interaction parameters, such as attenuation coefficients and half-value layer, exhibited well-behaved dependence on the concentration ratio of the Yb2O3 additive. This approach to glass material synthesis demonstrate the useful synergetic effect of combining structural, optical, and radiation characteristics.  相似文献

The electric generating capacity of Turkey must be tripled by 2010 to meet Turkey’s electric power consumption, if the annual 8% growth in electric power consumption continues. Turkey has to make use of its renewable energy resources, such as wind and solar, not only to meet the increasing energy demand, but also for environmental reasons. Studies show that Iskenderun (36°35′N; 36°10′E) located on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey is amongst the possible wind energy generation regions. In the present study, the wind energy potential of the region is statistically analyzed based on 1-year measured hourly time-series wind speed data. The probability density distributions are derived from time-series data and distributional parameters are identified. Two probability density functions are fitted to the measured probability distributions on a monthly basis. The wind energy potential of the location is studied based on the Weibull and the Rayleigh models.  相似文献

Abstract

Volume averaged thermal transport properties of two metal foams with 10 and 20 PPI are obtained by using microtomography technique. The digital 3D structures of samples are generated in computer environment. The governing equations are solved for the entire domain and the volume averaged technique is used to determine interfacial heat transfer coefficient, longitudinal and transverse thermal dispersion conductivity. The study is performed for the pore scale Reynolds number from 100 to 600. The obtained results are within the ranges of the suggested correlations in literature. The present study supports the correlations suggested by Calmidi and Mahajan (2000) and Zhang et al. (2016).  相似文献

A new route for the preparation of nanocrystalline TiO2 particles based on the pH swing method assisted by ultrasonic irradiation in the presence of a surfactant (Pluronic P-123) has been successfully achieved. The prepared TiO2 catalysts were calcined from 400 to 800 °C and characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transformed infra-red spectroscopy (FTIR), gas adsorption measurements (BET) and thermogravimetirc measurements (TAG/DTA) analyses. Characterization results revealed that the enhancement in the particle size of TiO2 by the pH swing method could be controlled by combining the pH swing with ultrasonic irradiation. Increasing the calcination temperatures led to an increase in both the particle and pore size, whereas the surface area and pore volume gradually decreased. A synergistic effect was observed in the combined process of pH swing with ultrasonication, yielding small TiO2 particles as well as high surface area, pore volume, pore diameter, and crystalline anatase phase. The activity of the catalysts was investigated for the oxidation of 4-chlorophenol (4-CP). TiO2 prepared with 15 times pH swing and calcined at 700 °C was found to show the highest rate for the oxidative degradation of 4-CP when compared to the TiO2 sample prepared with just 1 time pH swing and to the commercial P-25 TiO2 Degussa photocatalyst. Thus, a novel approach in controlling the various physico-chemical parameters of TiO2 nanoparticles was developed.  相似文献

Photopolymerization kinetics and conductivity changes of epoxyacrylate composites for various loading modified PSt-MWCNT weight fractions changing from 0.0025 to 0.2 wt.% were evaluated by performing photo differential scanning calorimetry (photo-DSC) and four point conductivity measurements. 0.2% PSt-MWCNT additive polymeric films had their electrical conductivity boosted by 6% more than non-additive polymeric films.  相似文献

The object of this work, a study of the junction recombination velocity limiting the short circuit (Sfsc) of a silicon solar cell under magnetic field in the dynamic frequency regime is presented. From the continuity equation, the density of minority Charge carrier’s in the base and the photocurrent are determined. The study of this photocurrent, according to the junction recombination velocity, allows us to determine the junction recombination velocity limiting the short circuit. The photocurrent density is studied as a function of the junction recombination velocity for different modulation frequencies. From the variation profile of the photocurrent density as a function of the junction recombination velocity, a technique for determining junction recombination velocity initiating the short-circuit situation is presented.

Material selection, one of the mostly encountered decision problems in material science literature, is still an onerous task for manufacturing organisations. Achieving accurate solution to this issue, the paper developed a model selection interface to enable analytical solutions to different problem concepts in material selection under multiple attribute decision-making (MADM) environments. Specifically, the generic framework of the fuzzy axiomatic design-model selection interface (FAD-MSI) is modified and successfully applied to the different material selection problem concepts.
