Nested multigrid vector and scalar potential finite element method for fast computation of two-dimensional electromagnetic scattering

Nested multigrid techniques are combined with the ungauged vector and scalar potential formulation of the finite-element method to accelerate the convergence of the numerical solution of two-dimensional electromagnetic scattering problems. The finite-element modeling is performed on nested meshes of the same computational domain. The conjugate gradient method is used to solve the resultant finite-element matrix for the finest mesh, while the nested multigrid vector and scalar potential algorithm acts as the preconditioner of the iterative solver. Numerical experiments are used to demonstrate the superior numerical convergence and efficient memory usage of the proposed algorithm.     

High performance liquid chromatographic separation of stereoisomeric bile acids as their UV-sensitive esters

High performance liquid chromatographic separation of a series of mono-, di- and trihydroxylated 5β-cholanic acids which differ only in position and configuration of hydroxyl groups at positions C-3, C-7 and/or C-12, is reported. The C-24 free acids were derivatized to four different classes of UV-sensitive esters, i.e.,p-bromophenacyl (BP),m-methoxyphenacyl (MP), 4-nitrophthalimidemethyl (NPM) and 9-anthrylmethyl (AM) esters, and chromatographed on two, variants of C₁₈ reversed-phase columns (Nova-Pak C₁₈ and Zorbax ODS) with methanol-water systems as mobile phase. Separation efficiency and elution order of some isomeric pairs were influenced by both the structure of the C-24 ester groups and the nature of the columns used. Excellent chromatographic properties were found for those derivatives, particularly for the NPM esters.     

由呼出气中的氡浓度估计铀矿工体内~(225)Ra的负荷量

本文测量了某铀矿不同工种的56名矿工下矿井作业前的呼出气中的~(222)Rn浓度,并由此估算了他们体内的~(226)Ra 负荷量。按不同工种的人数加权,呼出气中的~(222)Rn 浓度平均值为34.1Bqm~(-3),体内~(226)Ra 负荷量的均值为1.95kBq。同时还对9名休息了2天的和2名离开井下作业3—4年的矿工以及12名来下过矿井的本矿工人呼出气中氡浓度进行了测量,由此估算出其体内~(226)Ra 负荷量的均值分别为1.11、0.94和0.17kBq。
